In such systems, train positions are determined by combining all available sources of localisation information. However, each source of data suffers from specific errors, which are inherent to the nature of the sensors and, which are difficult to manage with common dependability methods. The proposed evaluation method based on a sensitivity analysis aims at showing the influence of the variability of sensor parameters on the RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety) attributes. This implies (i) to identify characteristics of the different sensors that compose the system like features, behaviour and error model, and (ii) to make assumptions about the nature of position error on the output system (continuity, differentiability, etc...). This paper proposes a sensitivity computation method and interpretations related to a train positioning system. This can constitute a new approach in dependability analysis in GNSS-based systems with a low or nonexistent feedback.","PeriodicalId":117087,"journal":{"name":"2013 13th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications (ITST)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117269751","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this context, Electric Vehicles (EVs) play a key role in the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The major issues of the large-scale adoption of EVs are related to their limited range and the lack of accessible charging infrastructures. An approach based on an intelligent dimensioning and management of the charging infrastructure might be a solution. In this work, practical strategies for providing efficient recharging services and improving user satisfaction (e.g., by maximizing battery charges) are compared.","PeriodicalId":117087,"journal":{"name":"2013 13th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications (ITST)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117007750","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

WiFi, to enable high-speed wireless communication and thus facilitate ubiquitous Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) connectivity. In particular, we detail our integrated simulation-analytical framework to characterize full-buffer WLAN deployments revealing the impact of many important performance factors, such as user density, radio channel properties, access protocol settings, and others. By contrast to existing saturated models typically applying Markov chains, our approach is based on regenerative analysis and thus remains scalable even when the number of parameters of interest is large. We specifically emphasize that a user might wish to limit the number of attempts to transmit a single packet and discard packets if the maximum number of retransmissions is reached. Accounting for packet losses, we arrive at a new analytical model, extending the previous models, and verify it with extensive simulations of the current IEEE 802.11-2012 protocol.","PeriodicalId":117087,"journal":{"name":"2013 13th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications (ITST)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133724804","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

DSUWB (Direct Sequence - UWB) signal is used for this IVC system because it has CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) Capability. However, there is the near-far problem due to difference of signal power from each vehicles, it becomes the cause of degradation of communication characteristics and detection accuracy of the signal. In this paper, we propose the iterative detection system using the SIC (Successive Interference Cancellation) to improve detection rate of the signal and the bit error rate (BER) performance. The signals except the desired signal detected by the SIC is subtracted from the original received signal. As the result, the performance was improved.","PeriodicalId":117087,"journal":{"name":"2013 13th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications (ITST)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129063313","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Firstly we derived an analytical delay formula based on the observation of the queue forming/discharging process. According to uniform arrivals assumption, the formula was then simplified to a linear relation between the travel time and the observed vehicle location. However, the factors in the formula are associated with the specific intersections' queue characteristics. So we collected massive historical trajectory data using GPS instrumented transit vehicles, and analyzed it with DBSCAN and Least Square Fit algorithms to determine the time-dependent factors at each intersection. In this way the formula can calculate precise intersection delay only base on vehicle positioning data, without the need to know signal or traffic information. Field experiments are conducted and the results verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":117087,"journal":{"name":"2013 13th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications (ITST)","volume":"95 12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124482092","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One solution to these problems seems to reduce traffic volume in urban area. In order to reduce it, people should consider the modal shift to the public transportation and personal mobility. As new personal mobility is developed and spread into the real world traffic, we need to estimate the effect of personal mobility on vehicle drivers and systems. Also, some traffic accidents at intersections lead to fatal accidents. One of the large percentages of fatal accidents is that the vehicle which is turning right in an intersection (turning left in Japan), hits a pedestrian crossing at the crosswalk. The objective of this research is to investigate the behavior of vehicle drivers to personal mobility at the intersection. Four personal vehicles, which can be used on crosswalk, were employed as personal mobility. We measured the distances between the vehicle, which is turning left, and a personal vehicle at the intersection when a personal vehicle crosses at the crosswalk. The multiple experiments were performed in the public area. Experimental result shows that the distance drivers would like to keep to pedestrian is the minimum in comparing to the distances to other personal vehicles. From this result, it is assumed that drivers might be confused about small personal vehicles, and stop own vehicles shorter, and would like to keep longer distance than usual. This experimental data is valuable for pedestrian and personal vehicle detection system and human machine interface.","PeriodicalId":117087,"journal":{"name":"2013 13th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications (ITST)","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114375026","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) services as an entertainment application over VANETs are considered to play an important role in the future of intelligent transportation systems and vehicular infotainment systems. Quality of Experience (QoE) has a strong impact when choosing adequate IPTV services for end users. Among QoE measures, TV Channel Availability (CA) is utmost important. In this work, we investigate the channel availability in IPTV services for vehicular users in different access network technologies. We focus on different traffic intensities and various number of TV channels and predict the CA of TV channels and the Channel Blocking Probability (CBP) to be expected. The comprehensive simulation experiments are achieved by means of an own simulation tool which is based on a detailed IPTV user behavior model.","PeriodicalId":117087,"journal":{"name":"2013 13th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications (ITST)","volume":"79 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116001360","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While safety messages are designed for advanced road safety and traffic efficiency, a significant concern is that eavesdroppers can track the vehicle's trajectory. In particular, this tracking is easily performed in low vehicle density environments. To address this location privacy issue, we propose a location privacy protection method in such environments using dummy node messages. In our approach, from an eavesdropper's view, the vehicle density is increased by the generation of dummy node messages. Simulation results show that our proposed method reduces tracking probability in high/low vehicle density environments.","PeriodicalId":117087,"journal":{"name":"2013 13th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications (ITST)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127622795","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The reference NLOS model is claimed to be flexible and of low complexity, and incorporates specific geometric aspects in a closed-form expression. We validated the accuracy of the model with the help of realistic channel measurements performed in selected street intersections in the city of Lund and Malmö, Sweden. The model fits well, with a few exceptions, to the measurements. Those are in turn made in different intersections having variable geometries and scattering environments. It is found that the model can be made more general if an intersection dependent parameter, that depends on the property and number of available scatterers in that particular intersection, is included in the model.","PeriodicalId":117087,"journal":{"name":"2013 13th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications (ITST)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128657372","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At present, the standards of eCall are being validated as part of the European HeERO project (Harmonised eCall European Pilot), and member states of the EU have also been advised to prepare for mandatory deployment of eCall. We outline the national implementation roadmap for eCall in Finland. In addition to information specific to Finland, the roadmap takes into account research results, regulation and other documents published at the European level. The roadmapping methods used in the study have certain limitations such as a tendency to assume linear development, technical and rational focus and implicit certainty assumed for events. These limitations have to be taken into account when utilizing the roadmap for the planning of activities or other purposes. The roadmap will have to be updated once the final results of the HeERO project become available, European-level regulations related to the deployment of eCall have been completed, and the update to the information system of Finnish public safety answering points is closer to completion.","PeriodicalId":117087,"journal":{"name":"2013 13th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications (ITST)","volume":"90 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116568527","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
