Additionally, integrating several lifestyle-based methods (such food and exercise therapies) may improve the effectiveness of treatment and the healing process . Aim: evaluate the effectiveness of lifestyle intervention on recovery of patients with bipolar disorders. Design: Quasi experimental design. Setting: The inpatient psychiatric department of Tanta University, and The Neurology, Psychiatry, and Neuro-Surgery Center. Subjects: A convenient sample of 60 patients with bipolar disorders were allocated randomly to experimental and control group (30 patients in each group). Tools: Tool I: Socio-demographic and clinical characteristics, Tool II: Simple lifestyle indicator questionnaire (SLIQ). Tool III: bipolar recovery questionnaire (BRQ). Results : there was statistical significant difference between experimental and control group after implementing lifestyle intervention in all dimensions of lifestyle scale except smoking subscale. Conclusion: lifestyle intervention promotes recovery and enhances daily life activities in patients with bipolar disorders except smoking habit needs more effort and variety of interventions to eliminate it. Recommendation: Different interventions directed to modifying lifestyle activities need to be planned and implemented for patients with bipolar disorders to improve their mental well-being and enhance their recovery.","PeriodicalId":114881,"journal":{"name":"Tanta Scientific Nursing Journal","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134997599","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Management of postoperative pain is vital role of nurses. Reflexology is a standalone nursing intervention that can be used to relieve pain. Hand massage, is a method of reflexology. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of hand massage on reducing pain after abdominal surgery. Design: A quasi-experimental, two groups study design was utilized. Setting: General Surgery departments at Qena University Hospitals. Sampling : Convenience sample of sixty patients according to the inclusion criteria. Tools: two tools were used including; Patients , assessment sheet and. Numeric Pain Rating Scale. Results: Main results for this study showed that 26.7% of study group and only 6.7% of control group had mild pain. In addition, 50% of study group and 66.7% of control group had moderate pain. Statistically significant differences were found among the two groups in term of level of pain immediately and 60 minutes following intervention P value = 0.001. Conclusion: Hand massage along with routine care can decrease pain among patients undergoing abdominal surgery. Recommendations: Hand massage should be included in the nursing mangement. Thus, it can be used with pharmacological approaches to manage pain following abdominal surgery.","PeriodicalId":114881,"journal":{"name":"Tanta Scientific Nursing Journal","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134997631","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An efficient public health response can be hampered by infodemics, which also cause misunderstanding and mistrust among people. Hence, the current study aimed to compare nursing and non-nursing students regarding health-related infodemic perception. Subjects & Methods: Design: Comparative cross-sectional descriptive research design was used where 820 students were randomly enrolled from the faculty of nursing and faculty of arts. Tools: (1) Socio-demographic characteristics; (2) Questionnaire to assess students’ knowledge, attitude, and the role of social media in spreading health-related infodemic; and (3) Arabic version of Electronic Health Literacy Scale. Results: Only 26% of students were familiar with the concept of health-related infodemic. Social media platforms like Facebook (79.5%) and YouTube (46.3%) played a significant role in the dissemination of false and misleading health information. Both nursing (59%) and non-nursing (57.6%) students were aware of the topic of health-related infodemic. Nursing students scored lower on e-health literacy (77.3%). Ultimately, a plethora of nursing (82.7%) and non-nursing (81.2%) students had negative attitudes regarding health-related infodemic. Conclusion: Both nursing and non-nursing students showed unfavorable attitudes toward the health information epidemic. Nursing students knew more about health-related infodemics, despite having lower e-health literacy scores than non-nursing students. As students become more knowledgeable and literate about health-related infodemic, they consequently develop a negative attitude toward it. Recommendations: Governments must build resilience to misinformation and engage and empower communities to take positive actions particularly during outbreaks to control infodemics and safeguard the public's health.","PeriodicalId":114881,"journal":{"name":"Tanta Scientific Nursing Journal","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125813416","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Caring is one of the most attributes of nurses providing care for the patients with AIDS. So they are expected to have the knowledge, accurate practices, and positive attitudes toward such patients who have no chance to cure. Aim: Evaluate effect of self-learning intervention on knowledge, attitudes and care provided among nurses caring for HIV AIDs patients in fever hospitals. Design: Quasi-experimental study research. Setting: Tanta and Alexandria fever hospitals. Subjects : 79 nurses who provide direct care to HIV/ AIDS patients in previous settings Tools: Tool I: HIV knowledge Questionnaire (HIVKQ 20 ) which was developed by Carey and Schroder (2002); Tool II: AIDS Attitude Scale which was developed by Forman et al, (1992); Tool III: Observation checklist to assess practice of nurses dealing with HIV/ AIDS patients. Results: 54.4% of the studied nurses had low Knowledge scores and this percentage decreased to 5.1% post-self-learning program. The percentage of the nurses who had positive attitudes increased from 3% to 27.8 % in post-self- learning. The majority (92.4%) of them had unsatisfactory practice in pre-self-learning and this decreased to only 17.7% post-self-learning. Statistically significant correlation was found between total knowledge and attitude scores.
