Only through early identification of risky women, diagnosis and treatment the morbidity can be reduced. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of nursing intervention on nurses' performance regarding the prevention of deep vein thrombosis among postpartum women. Subjects and Method: A quasi-experimental research design was used to conduct this study on 100 nurses who were working in the postpartum units at 8 central and general hospitals in El Gharbia governorate, Egypt. Two tools were used for data collection, Tool I: Assessment of Nurses' knowledge regarding the Prevention of Postpartum Deep Vein Thrombosis Structured Questionnaire and Tool II: Assessment of Nurses' Practices regarding the Prevention of Postpartum Deep Vein Thrombosis Observational Checklist . Results: there was a highly statistically significant improvement in the total knowledge and practices scores of the participant nurses regarding the prevention of postpartum DVT after provision of the nursing intervention (P=0.0001). Conclusion: nurses' knowledge and practices regarding the prevention of deep vein thrombosis among postpartum women was enhanced after the implementation of the nursing intervention. Recommendation: Further constant learning plans and in-service training programs about DVT preventive measures are necessary for nursing staff to participate actively in early detection and prevention of DVT among postpartum women.","PeriodicalId":114881,"journal":{"name":"Tanta Scientific Nursing Journal","volume":"65 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139302696","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Fatigue is a common and disabling symptom among hemodialysis patients, and it has a negative impact on quality of life and clinical results . Aim: To evaluate the effect of educational program on energy conservation during daily activities living on renal failure patients undergoing hemodialysis. Design: A quasi-experimental. Setting: Tanta University Hospitals hemodialysis centers. Subject: It consisted of 100 patients; they were randomly allocated to 50 patients in each group. Tools: The following two tools were used to gather data: First tool: patient evaluation. Tool (1): was composed of two sections: Part B contained the patients' demographic information; Part A was Modified Barthel Index . Tool (II) Fatigue Symptom Inventory. Results: It was revealed that more than half (54%) of the study group have moderate fatigue before implementation energy conservation educational program while majority (100%) of the study group have mild fatigue after implementation energy conservation educational program. Furthermore, a significant difference was observed between the study group and the control group in relation to fatigue levels, with a p-value of 0.0001. Conclusion: Application of energy conservation educational program had a positive impact on their clinical findings. Recommendations: The implementation of an energy conservation teaching program should be conducted as a regular component of treatment for patients undergoing hemodialysis.","PeriodicalId":114881,"journal":{"name":"Tanta Scientific Nursing Journal","volume":"64 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139304672","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Intradialytic exercises are the best measures to reduce muscle cramps which occurring during hemodialysis to increase the cardiac output, enhancing perfusion and facilitating oxygen demand of the skeletal muscles. Aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of intradialytic exercises program for nurses on peripheral muscle cramps and peripheral perfusion among children undergoing hemodialysis. Setting: The study was conducted at Children Renal Dialysis Unit at Benha University Hospital. Design: A quasi-experimental design was used to conduct the study. Subjects: Sample (I) A convenient sample of (30) nurses was selected from the previously mentioned setting, Sample (2) A purposive sample of 36 children undergoing hemodialysis. Tools of data collection: Five tools were used; Tool I : Nurses characteristics and children bio-sociodemographic data included three parts: (1) The studied nurses’ characteristics, (2 ) Studied children characteristics (3) Clinical data of children undergoing hemodialysis, Tool II: Knowledge assessment questionnaire, Tool III : Intradialytic exercises checklist, Tool IV: Muscle cramp questionnaire chart Tool V : Assessment checklist for clinical features of impaired peripheral perfusion. Results: There is a highly statistical significant difference between frequency and duration of muscle cramps, level of pain, leg temperature and discomfort pre and post-intradialytic exercises program implementation. There was high statistical significant difference between clinical features of impaired peripheral perfusion pre and post-intradialytic exercises program. Conclusion: The majority of the studied nurses had good level of knowledge and satisfactory level of practices post-intradialytic exercises program implementation compared to pre-intradialytic exercises program implementation Recommendations: Organizing continuous training programs for nurses to reinforce intradialytic exercises for hemodialysis children. Polyethylene covering is transparent dressing which creates moist chamber providing a barrier against tear-film evaporation and physical barrier for micro-organisms Aim: This study was carried out to evaluate the effect of risk reduction nursing measures on the occurrence of corneal injury for patients in Intensive Care Unit. Design: Quasi-experimental design. Setting: Anesthetic Intensive Care Unit, at Tanta Emergency Hospital and Anesthetic Intensive Care Unit, at Tanta University Educational Hospital affiliated to Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Subjects : A convenience sampling of 60 mechanically ventilated patients divided into study and control groups (30 patients for each). Tools : Tool I: Critically Ill Patients Assessment Tool. Tool II: Richmond Agitation Sedation Scale. Tool III: Clinical Indicators of Corneal Injury Assessment Tool. Results: Findings of the present study revealed that there was statistical significant difference were observed among study group regarding physical assessment indicator of corneal injury regarding left eyelids, right and left conjunctiva which (P= 0.001, 0.021, 0.003) respectively. The current results revealed that more than two-third (73.33%) and the majority (93.33%) of study group patients have normal cornea in right and left eyes respectively from 1st to 7th days, and there was a statistical significant difference between control and study groups on the 7 th day in relation to corneal ulcer in right and left eyes (P = 0.001 and 0.00) respectively. Conclusion: Using eye care protocol reduced the incidence of keratitis, conjunctivitis, dry eye, and corneal ulcers in patients admitted to ICU. Recommendations: Eye care should be standardized as a basic part of nursing care provided to all critically ill patients in ICU.
