Inst., ARC, Giza, Egypt during 2018 and 2019 seasons to evaluate the positive effects of both Kristalon (20 N: 20 P: 20 K + microelements) and Active Grow a commercial liquid nutritive product that contains macro and micro-elements, GA3, amino acids, vit. B. and molas) when applied at 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4 g /ml, or ml for Kristalon /l for Active Grow as foliar spray, biweekly on growth and quality of Mescal-bean (Sophora secundiflora (Ort.) Lag ex.DC.) during the growth period in the nursery. The obtained results showed that spraying plants with all fertilization treatments traits exhibited significant increasing in the average of vegetative and root growth compared to the control treatment where the treatments was of the integrated mineral fertilizer Kristalon (20: 20: 20) at the rate of 3 g/l, the best treatment ,which gave the highest values in all traits, in both seasons. On the other hand the lowest values were found in the untreated plants (control), followed by the plants treated with the high rate of Active Grow (4 ml/l) treatment . The same trend was observed with regard to the chemical components of the leaves, with the Kristalon treatment at the rate of 3 g/l, which gave the highest values for the leaf contents of photosynthetic pigments (chlorophylla, b and carotenoids), total soluble sugars, nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, as well as iron, manganese, magnesium and zinc compared to other treatments for the mean of the two seasons. Accordingly, foliar spraying of Mescalbean (Sophora secundiflora) seedlings with Kristalon compound (20 N: 20 P: 20 K + microelements) at the rate of 3 g/liter, once every two weeks during the growing season, can be recommended to obtain the fastest growth and high quality during the period of nursery care.","PeriodicalId":11430,"journal":{"name":"Egyptian Journal of Agricultural Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76117824","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Salinity stress is an abiotic stress, which has harmful effects on germination, growth and yield of alfalfa. Seventeen alfalfa landraces were assessed for salt tolerance with seven salt levels 0, 5 and 10 dSm -1 of NaCl, 5 and 10 dSm -1 of CaCl2 and 5 and 10 dSm -1 mixture of NaCl + CaCl2, in a laboratory experiment to select the most salt tolerant alfalfa landrace and the most sensitive one, which were evaluated under greenhouse conditions. Regarding laboratory experiment, two alfalfa landraces, namely L12 and L3, were selected as the most salt tolerant and sensitive landraces, respectively. A significant decrease was observed in all traits with increasing salt levels. The results showed that 5 dSm -1 CaCl2 levels had the least effect on all traits, than NaCl followed by their mixture concentrations of NaCl + CaCl2. The most tolerant and the most sensitive alfalfa landraces were assessed by peroxidase (POX), polyphenyl oxidase (PPO) and alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) systems under different salt concentrations. The POX, PPO and ADH isozyme activities showed up to 10, 11 and 10 distinct polymorphic bands, respectively. Some new bands were appeared and/or disappeared under different salt types and concentrations for the most salt tolerant and/or the most sensitive alfalfa landraces. The activity of isozymes (band intensity) increased under all salinity treatments compared with the control. The increase of band intensity and appearance or disappearance of new bands may be an indication of an increase in isozymes activities under salinity conditions.","PeriodicalId":11430,"journal":{"name":"Egyptian Journal of Agricultural Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86930661","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This Paper aimed to propose and test a theoretical model for some determinants of the discontinuity decision for adopting the compost recommended practices. To achieve this goal; A sample of 342 farmers were selected in Kafe El-Sheikh. And, Personal interviews were used for collecting the data. Different statistical techniques were used to analyze these data. The most important results indicated that there was no significant relationship between exposure to an extension campaign and the discontinuity decision among the farmers. In addition the results indicated that the antecedent variables have the largest contribution in predicting the tendency of a decision of discontinuity in adopting compost practices more than the process variables. The results also showed that the variable of participating in environmental activities is the greatest important determinant in predicting the discontinuity decision in compost practices in the first and second stage of the logistic","PeriodicalId":11430,"journal":{"name":"Egyptian Journal of Agricultural Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88659098","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aims of this work were (1) investigate the performance of two cultivars of faba bean (Giza 843 and Sakha 3) under some weed control treatments [mulching with the rice straw, mulching with the sorghum straw, mulching with the black plastic, mulching with the white plastic, mulching with the blue plastic, stomp extra at rate 1.5 L/fed + Round up at rate 75 cm 3 /fed, (hand hoeing + hand pulling) twice and untreated check) (2) Effect of some weed control treatments on annual weeds and broomrape, faba bean yield and its components. The results indicated that the cultivar Giza 843 decreased exhibited the lowest dry weight of broadleaved, grassy and total annual weeds by 27.2, 20.8 and 20.9 %, respectively as compared to Sakha 3. It also, decreased broomrape spike length, number of spikes/ plant and dry weight of spikes/m 2 by 30.9, 38.5 and 38.3 %, respectively. In addition, it scored the highest values of yield and its components, compared to the cultivar Sakha 3. Moreover, all weed control treatments significantly decreased dry weight of total annual weeds and broomrape, and increased yield components in both seasons. The highest values obtained for faba bean yield (ardab./fed.) yield were detected for mulching with sorghum straw and mulching with black plastic for nine weeks, followed by stomp extra + Round up, mulching with rice straw, mulching with blue plastic and mulching with white by 71.8, 68.9, 67.9, 66.1, 64.2 and 60.9 %, respectively compared to the control treatment. The interaction between faba bean cultivars and weed control treatments exerted a significantly integrated impact on annual weeds and broomrape characters which was reflected on increases in yield faba bean and its components. From the results of correlation analysis, the dry weight of total annual weeds and broomrape biomass negatively correlated with faba bean yield and its components. These results indicated that in soil infested with annual weeds and broomrape, it is better to grow the cultivar Giza 843 with the application of weed control treatments such as mulching with the sorghum straw, or mulching with black plastic for nine weeks or stomp extra at rate 1.5 L/fed + Round up at rate 75cm 3 /fed. These practices gave the highest reduction in annual weeds and broomrape density and increased faba bean yield and its components and improved faba bean productivity.","PeriodicalId":11430,"journal":{"name":"Egyptian Journal of Agricultural Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84568486","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The obtained results indicated that the ISSR primers were able to amplify DNA fragments showing, polymorphic DNA amplification patterns among the genotypes. The data indicated that out of the total 120 bands, 64 were polymorphic (64%). The number of the observed bands ranged from two for the primer UBC849 to one in the primer UBC811with an average of 2.4 across for the tested genotypes. The data also showed the presence of reasonable number of alleles for every locus in the present study, which may be due of the nature to amplified ISSR loci that most to them are located to the expressed sequence tags (EST) in the transcribed regions of the genomic DNA sequences. UBC849 with average value to 7. Consequently, most of the five ISSR loci in this study were useful for the evaluation of genetic diversity between the three Egyptian Artemisia monosperma genotypes. However, it is worth mentioning, this value expresses the existence to different alleles of one or more loci of homologous chromosomes. Polymorphism data content (PIC) value of the Artemisia monosperma genomic ISSR indicated temperate to high level of in formativeness with average PIC value to 0.42 over all the tested ISSR loci primers, where it ranged from 0.07 by using to UBC849 to 0.42 in UBC811 for all genotypes under research by a mean to 0.18. Also, this study signalized a low heterozygosis level of the genotypes under research, so that for the variation between the number of alleles in each locus and number of effective alleles, so that to the existences to exclusive/specific alleles to the genotypes. The genetic analysis of the three Artemisia momosperma based on 5 ISSR markers detected 64 separate specific alleles, and also, that the three genotypes (G.1, G.2 and G.3) had alleles were unrivaled. So these five genotypes did not give conformable DNAfingerprints. It is noted that, largest number patented to the specific/unique alleles were of the genotype number 3, where 30 specific alleles were patented to this genotype only.","PeriodicalId":11430,"journal":{"name":"Egyptian Journal of Agricultural Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90930988","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It also prevents the occurrence of arthritis and bone pain and strengthens muscles. The progress in age causes low natural collagen production by the body. Therefore it is useful to compensate this decrease from another sources, preferably a natural source. In this study, instant noodles were produced from hard wheat or corn flour containing collagen hydrolysate extracted from chicken feet as a functional food by three levels of pH (4.0, 6.5 and 9.0). The best protein content of collagen hydrolysate was obtained from treatment by pH 4.0, thus this treatment was used in supplementation of instant noodles at levels of 10, 20 and 30%. Chemical composition , amino acids content, sensory evaluation, shear force and cooking quality of instant noodle blends were improved. The blends of instant noodles supplemented with collagen hydrolysate had a high protein content which ranged from 20.13 to 34.95 % for hard wheat blends and from 25.54 to 33.30 % for yellow corn blends. Regarding amino acids content, chicken feet collagen had the highest value of threonine, alanine, glycine, proline, hydroxylysine and hydroxyproline compared to hard wheat and yellow corn flour. Regarding the percentages of the recommended dietary allowances (RDA %) provided from 100g of different instant noodles for age of 31 -50 years old, the results showed that all values of RDA % for protein was high in instant noodles produced from hard wheat flour which ranged from 35.95 to 62.41 % for males and ranged from 43.76 to 75.98% for females compared to the control sample which showed RDA % value of 22.61 and 27.52% for males and females, respectively. Also, the results showed that all values of RDA % for protein was high in instant noodles produced from yellow corn flour which ranged from 32.02 to 59.46% for males and ranged from 38.98 to 72.39% for females compared to the control sample which showed RDA % value of 18.43 and 22.43 % for males and females, respectively. The results showed that the product of yellow corn flour instant noodles can be used as a functional food for patients suffering from celiac disease.","PeriodicalId":11430,"journal":{"name":"Egyptian Journal of Agricultural Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83044127","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It belongs to popular confectionery products. Marshmallow is one of the earliest confections known to humanity. Currently, the world is moving towards maximizing their natural sources, which are used in food processing, with avoiding addition of artificial colors or flavors. Sugar, glucose syrup and gelatin are the main components of marshmallow sweets. Gelatin is useful for joints and articular ligaments of bones. It is clear that, sugar and glucose syrup are one of the main factors for obesity, diabetes and most of other diseases. This research, tended to solve this problem by producing marshmallow (candy) without glucose syrup and reducing the amount of sugar. Resorted juices of some fruits and vegetables, such as strawberry, persimmon, wholly prickly pear, carrots and pumpkin were used as alternative colors and flavor compared to the commercial marshmallow (control) and the blank sample (with glucose syrup), as a novel marshmallow candy product. The obtained results indicated that, wholly prickly pear marshmallow sample had superior value of antioxidative activity (60.41%). Wholly prickly pear sample was the lowest (39.27%) total sugar. Wholly prickly pear, carrot and pumpkin were characterized by most of the mineral contents, except Selenium mineral content which was (0.0 ppm). The water activity (aw) in general, indicated that, there are no significant differences at p 0.05., before or after storage period. Reconstitution ratio values after 6 hrs., for some samples were the best compared to (control and blank). The consumers preferred the classical marshmallow with golden syrup (blank), strawberries, and pumpkin as well. Wholly prickly pear enriched marshmallow compared to control sample Therefore, we recommend to make marshmallows from natural sources and free of glucose syrup with a little sugar, to reduce the processing cost and keep the children health as well as the adults. It can provide a final product with natural and healthy ingredients.","PeriodicalId":11430,"journal":{"name":"Egyptian Journal of Agricultural Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78155042","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
