One of the hypothesis for this passive network implementation is to use backscatter radio nodes. Nevertheless, the traditional approach is to use ASK or PSK backscatter solutions that limits the data rate of the sensors, since it transfers only one bit per symbol period. In order to overcome these limitation, in this paper we propose a novel passive wireless sensor network based in 4-QAM backscatter modulation. The design strategy for high level order backscatter modulations will be explained and a design approach will be presented in this manuscript.","PeriodicalId":113182,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE Wireless Power Transfer Conference (WPTC)","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132594626","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The reader-antenna is fixed on a moving cart and collects RFID data in the area of interest. Locations of the reader-antenna and of the target-objects are obtained by the RSSI of “reference” tags placed at known positions. The proposed method can be applied using commercial RFID equipment. Measurements were conducted in an office environment; mean error of 25cm with standard deviation equal to 12,4cm is recorded. Localization accuracy can be further improved by increasing the density of the “reference” tags and the number of reader antennas.","PeriodicalId":113182,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE Wireless Power Transfer Conference (WPTC)","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133731019","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this work we concentrate on the two possible regimes at which wireless power transfer can be attained. One regime allows to maximize either the power on the load or the efficiency, at a given fixed frequency, by changing the load value. Another regime keeps a fixed value for the load and, for a relatively wide variations of the coupling coefficient, attains fixed efficiency and power transfer by selecting an appropriate working frequency. These two operating regimes are rigorously introduced, relative solutions are analytically expressed and illustrated via numerical simulations.","PeriodicalId":113182,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE Wireless Power Transfer Conference (WPTC)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114556713","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main technique for reducing EMI is input impedance design based on theoretical analysis of tightly coupled wireless power transfer (WPT) circuit. In order to design input impedance of the tightly coupled WPT circuit, the characteristics of the magnitude of the input impedance curve with the frequency splitting phenomena should be analyzed. From these theoretical analyses, the circuit parameters for increasing the magnitude of the input impedance at harmonic frequencies are designed. To verify the method, we compare total harmonic distortion (THD) between the proposed WPT system and the typical tightly coupled WPT system with series-series resonant topology using the ANSYS Simplorer. The simulation results of the proposed WPT system show that THD of Transmitter(Tx) and Rx currents flowing through Transmitter and receiver coil are reduced by 53.85% and 39.52% respectively.","PeriodicalId":113182,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE Wireless Power Transfer Conference (WPTC)","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131058482","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Available frequency for wireless power transfer (WPT) is limited by the industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) radio bands in MHz band and some laws. Depending on the application of wireless power transfer, different frequency bands are used. A single transmitter coil which can adapt to multiple frequency bands is needed for reducing number of transmitter coils. In this paper, transmitter coil design for multiple frequencies using high order resonant frequency is proposed. Main purpose of coil design is that first resonant frequency is allocated at 85 kHz for Electric Vehicles and second resonant frequencies of multi-frequency coil is allocated at ISM bands. Characteristics of proposed coil is confirmed by electromagnetic simulation and experiment.","PeriodicalId":113182,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE Wireless Power Transfer Conference (WPTC)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114139732","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This inverter is able to maintain zero-voltage switching (ZVS) operation and produce a constant output current for any load value without the need for tuning or replacement of components. The load-independent feature of this inverter is beneficial when used as the primary coil driver in multi-megahertz high power inductive wireless power transfer (WPT) applications where the distance between the coils and the load are variable. The work here begins with the traditional load-dependent Class EF topology for inversion and then specifies the criteria that are required to be met in order achieve load-independence.
