This paper proposes a novel controlled resonance power architecture for use in weakly coupled systems with less power processing stages, and investigates the basic design principles and implementation in power management ICs. Experiments show efficiency improvements in the range of 20-30% in practical applications.","PeriodicalId":113182,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE Wireless Power Transfer Conference (WPTC)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124301085","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The standard switch control sequences choice is enriched by the presence of a reconfigurable feeding network: in this way, the novel additional capability of fundamental frequency beam steering is achieved, as well as a full control of the sideband radiation phenomenon, typical of these arrays. As a result, precise, real-time wireless powering to randomly distributed tags becomes straightforward. The effectiveness of the proposed agile reader/transmitter architecture, applied to a 5.8 GHz eight-element patch array, is demonstrated by resorting to an accurate nonlinear/ electromagnetic co-simulation approach.","PeriodicalId":113182,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE Wireless Power Transfer Conference (WPTC)","volume":"87 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125533029","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By making use of good insight into the used SBD models and careful analysis of circuit behavior, more efficient rectifier circuits have been identified. An increase in circuit efficiency of 18-25% is shown compared to state of the art, resulting in 20-180% more available energy from the rectifying circuit. Also the accuracy of the simulation results has increased significantly. All the simulations in this paper are performed in a conjugately matched environment, which allows for an objective comparison of different Schottky diodes.","PeriodicalId":113182,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE Wireless Power Transfer Conference (WPTC)","volume":"108 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115221994","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The targeted application is the electromagnetic harvesting of the spill-over losses of microwave antennas for powering autonomous wireless sensors used for satellite health monitoring. The experimental results demonstrate that this compact rectenna can harvest efficiently the incident electromagnetic energy at three different frequencies that roughly correspond to the resonant frequencies of the used cross dipoles antenna array.","PeriodicalId":113182,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE Wireless Power Transfer Conference (WPTC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129843682","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
