Online learning has been carried out in universities in the last two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aims to determine the correlation between students' perceptions and academic performance towards the online learning system during the COVID-19 pandemic of English education study program students at Indo Global Mandiri University Palembang. quantitative method used in this study with a correlational design to analyze the data. The sample was students majoring in English Education intake 2018, 2019, and 2020. Seventy-eight students from three intakes of English Education students participated in this study. The data sources used by the researchers are graphs of student academic performance and a questionnaire. A technique called Dictogloss was used in this research to find out the significant improvement on listening comprehension and perception of students’ toward dictogloss technique in SMP Tri Dharma Palembang of eighth graders in academic year 2021/2022. Quantitative method was used by the researcher namely pre-experimental design which only used one class. As data source, test and questionnaire were used in this research. The pre-test and post-test was taken from experimental group to find out whether Dictogloss Technique effective to improve the eighth grade student’s at SMP Tri Dharma Palembang. And questionnaire to determine the students’ perceptions on Dictogloss technique in teaching listening. The results showed the experimental class students’ listening improved as indicated by the pre-test and post-test scores. It means t-obtain is bigger than t-table (25.789 > 2.024) and the value of Sig.(2-tailed) was 0.000 < 0.05, means that null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted so there was any significant improvement of students’ listening who taught by Dictogloss. Meanwhile the mean score of questionnaire is 73,44 which showed a positive perception because the result showed the mean score is higher than 60. In short, the use of Dictogloss as the technique to improve students’ listening skill is suggested for teachers in teaching listening.","PeriodicalId":112452,"journal":{"name":"Global Expert: Jurnal Bahasa dan Sastra","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134351672","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study's population consisted of all tenth grade students at SMAN 4 Kota Jambi during the academic year 2021/2022. The samples were collected by two classes, each with 32 students. This study used a quasi-experimental design with two groups of students. Cluster Sampling was used as a sampling technique. For In order to collect data, the test was given twice, once before and once after. The findings revealed that both the PSRA strategy and the QAR strategy had a significant impact on students' reading achievement in each class. Based on the data, it was discovered that the students' mean post-test score in the experimental group who were taught using the PSRA Strategy was 84.63 and the students' mean post-test score in the control group who were taught using the QAR Strategy was 79.70. However, based on the independent sample t-test analysis, the t-obtained (3.216) was found to be greater than the t-table (1.671), indicating that the null Hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the alternative Hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. It indicates that there was a significant difference in students' reading comprehension achievement between those taught using the PSRA Strategy and those taught using the QAR Strategy. The participants of this study were the second-semester students of the Indo Global Mandiri English Education Study Program. The researcher chose second-semester students because students had understood the phenomenon of pronunciation and they have taken IEC: Pronunciation courses. There were 23 students involved in this research. The data were collected by conducting direct meetings through a performance test that used three forms of tests such as pronounced 44 sentences, pronounced 31 minimal pairs, pronounced one passage with mixed sounds, and their voices made by the students were recorded by mobile phone. The data showed that in fact, most of the students have problems with pronunciations. It is found that the students had problems in pronouncing the English sounds of consonant [v], [θ], [ð], vowel [æ], [ʌ], [ɔ:] and diphthong [eɪ], [oʊ], [аʊ], [aɪ].
