Although the extensive research has been undertaken in this area, there are still many questions to be clarified. Our attention is focused on the syntax of the Khakass language. Previous studies have been devoted to complex sentences without conjunctions, conditional and causal constructions in the Khakass language, in comparison with the Russian language. Nevertheless, taking into account the fact that only a small section of the scientific grammar of the Khakass language covers the topic under discussion, such studies are highly relevant. This study examines complex sentences in the Khakass language and, in particular, polypredicative concessive constructions that have not yet received proper coverage. There is only a small paragraph in the block of circumstantial subordinate clauses devoted to such constructions in the Khakass language grammar. Our aim was to identify and describe the means of expressing concessionary relations. The study has revealed a unique specialization of all concessive constructions in the Khakass language primarily associated with the amplifying particle taa / tee, daa / dee preceding or following the conditional form (=sa / =se, =za / =ze) in the simple verb predicate, preceding the conditional form in the nominal and complex verb predicate in the in the dependent predicative unit. Depending on the form of the predicate of the main predicative unit and on the presence of interrogative pronouns, these constructions express real-concessive and conditionally-concessive, conditionally-contrastive, generically-concessive meanings.","PeriodicalId":112261,"journal":{"name":"Languages and Folklore of Indigenous Peoples of Siberia","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133850039","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The language of German Mennonites, referred to as Plautdietsch (self-designation Plotdich), or Mennonitenplatt, has a complex mixed character due to the history of its speakers. Through the centuries changing their place of residence, Mennonites, representatives of a special ethno-confessional community, now live in various countries of North and South America, European countries, and Russia. Of particular interest is the phonetic appearance of this language. For the first time, the description of its phonemic composition is carried out using the methods of experimental phonetics. The research material was collected from two native speakers (Neudachino, Novosibirsk region). Twenty tomograms were described and analyzed using the methodology of the Laboratory of Experimental Phonetic Research named after V. M. Nadelyaev, Institute of Philology, SB RAS. The tomography program comprised eleven word forms, with the target sound in the initial and final positions. The paper provides language material, with series of words in different phonetic contexts, a summary distribution table, and three tables describing the tomograms. Following N. S. Trubetskoy’s rules of phoneme selection, sound analysis identified five labial phonemes: noisy labial-labial mouth-bowed / p/ and / b/, noisy labial-dental mouth-slotted /v/ and /f/ and sonorous nasal-bowed /m/. Also, the analysis of MRI images determined the constitutive-differential features characteristic of the phonetic subsystem of labial consonantism of Plautdietsch.","PeriodicalId":112261,"journal":{"name":"Languages and Folklore of Indigenous Peoples of Siberia","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115938167","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Authors consider that the form -i(r) is connected with obligatory existence of a pertseptor concerning which there is an observed action: in close proximity or in a distance, eyes speaking or the char-acter, in the real or past tense. Verb form – and (p) and a participle form -iɣan / -igen coincide with the plan of the pre-sent, and observed action takes place just before the observer's eyes. The form -idyr / -idir also refers to the present, but the observed action takes place in some distance from the perceptor (observer). The form of the verb -yenan transfers the action to the past-time plan. The verbal adverb form -iryp / -irip, -idyryp / -idirip designates minor action of a komitativny situation. The form of conditional inclination -yz / -ise denotes that the observer is the subject of action.","PeriodicalId":112261,"journal":{"name":"Languages and Folklore of Indigenous Peoples of Siberia","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114324337","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The nominal predicate paradigm in sentences with semantics of characterization includes not only synthetic personal and tense forms, but also analytical constructions in which the adjective is combined with an auxiliary existential verb to express negation, modal and aspectual meanings. The nominal predicate paradigm is represented by two subsystems: the meanings of personality and temporality are expressed synthetically, while modal and aspectual meanings are expressed analytically, the corresponding affixes are attached to the auxiliary verb ŋes’ 'to be'. Personal and temporal forms do not belong to the word as a part of speech, but to the syntactic position of the predicate. Nenets adjectives show signs of transitivity, as they can take verbal affixes.","PeriodicalId":112261,"journal":{"name":"Languages and Folklore of Indigenous Peoples of Siberia","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115997111","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study was conducted using both somatic and acoustic research methods. The analysis involved the material collected by the author and taken from other works involving the same methods, so that all the obtained material could be comparable. Vowels were determined to be laryngeal sounds of complex formation, referred to as “laryngeal-ligamentous”, with the work of the vocal folds being a prerequisite in their production. 8 independent laryngeal-ligamentous sound types were distinguished, including laryngeal-rounded (“o”, “ö”, “y”, “ÿ”) and non-laryngeal-rounded (“a”, “e”, “ъ”, “i”). All these should be considered basic for all languages, although not all languages have implementations of all sound types. For each of these sound types, a complex articulation process in the larynx, to be identified and described, results in a sound wave characteristic of a specific sound type. In the pharynx, mouth, or nose cavity, this sound wave changes due to various articulatory movements: narrowing, compression, vibration of the scooped-out folds, movement of the body of the tongue, soft palate, lower jaw, and lips. Thus, several variants of the same sound type are produced: basic or allotypes (without additional articulation) and complicated (with additional articulation). The “Table of basic sound types” presents the basic variants with some necessary extensions and a new classification of vowels by series, with these series related to formant indicators and palatal arch. The table “Transcription designation of the main vowel settings” shows the transcription system with reference to the table “Main vowel types” in the V. M. Nadelyaev’s classification.","PeriodicalId":112261,"journal":{"name":"Languages and Folklore of Indigenous Peoples of Siberia","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123932767","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

V. Anokhin in 1910 from the Tuba shaman Balandi. The analysis showed the text to consistently reflect all the ritual actions characteristic of the shaman rite. The main actions are invoking deities and host spirits, sacrifices to deities and master spirits of the Middle World, and sprinkling of the Ot-Ene, home spirit of fire. The ceremony had a family and household character, with the main purpose being to ask for grace for one family. The cult of mountains, worship of the deities and spirits of the Middle World reflected in the rite (Altai-Kudai ‘Altai-God’, Jayik ‘Dyayik (Idol Creator)’, Ot-Ene ‘Fire-Mother’) indicate the involvement of the performer of this ritual text in the South Altai tradition of shamanism. The appeal to the deity Altai-Kudai testifies to the fact that already at the beginning of the twen- tieth century, the Altaians formed a monotheistic image of a single deity. The key mythologeme in the text is the shaman’s journey to the top of the ridge inhabited by the deity Altai-Kudai who gives grace, happiness, and prosperity to the souls of cattle and children. The analyzed shamanic text is distinguished by a high solemn style. The poetic form of the shamanic text provides maximum expressiveness and ultimate emotional and semantic richness. Its syllabic structure varies from seven to twelve syllables. The ritual structure consists of three-day actions with sacrifice to the spirits-masters of the sacred mountains.","PeriodicalId":112261,"journal":{"name":"Languages and Folklore of Indigenous Peoples of Siberia","volume":"115 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130450660","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

During this period, Yakut folklorists presented two versions of the volume for consideration by the Main Editorial Board of the academic bilingual series “Monuments of Folklore of the Peoples of Siberia and the Far East”, which were not approved. The third version is being prepared. The volume compilers first encountered the problem of the antithesis “Handwritten archival text of a folk song / Audio recording of a folk song”. The authors of the previous two versions of the volume had only audio materials from the integrated expedition of 1986, 1987. Therefore, their versions of volumes were a revised version of the first scientific publication of folk songs of 1976–1983 with new handwritten texts and inediths. The third version audio samples were selected from different audio collections of the 50–60s of the 20th century, 1986, 1987, and 21st century. These audio materials were recorded not only by folklorists, philologists, ethnomusicologists but also by radio workers. In this regard, two questions arose. The first was the issue of including handwritten texts of folk songs. Many samples have been “numbing” for centuries (samples of the song system of an early period). The second issue was filing the expeditionary materials. The authors have analyzed one sample. A conclusion was drawn that the pauses and errors of the performer should be considered in the context of the execution environment.","PeriodicalId":112261,"journal":{"name":"Languages and Folklore of Indigenous Peoples of Siberia","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134590809","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The circumstantial modifiers of locative and temporal semantics expressed by the noun case forms demonstrate certain “convergences-divergences” and “overlapping” with indirect objects concerning their formal characteristics. However, the semantic features and some positional restrictions in the sentence structure still allow these to be differentiated. The object most often demonstrates a locally restricted action, with the circumstantial modifiers mainly indicating a location or movement in space, the boundaries of which are very conditional and cannot be clearly marked at all.","PeriodicalId":112261,"journal":{"name":"Languages and Folklore of Indigenous Peoples of Siberia","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133855148","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study focused on the songs included in the manuscript of the volume “Yakut folk songs” 2012 of the series “Monuments of folklore of the peoples of Siberia and the Far East”. The author draws several conclusions. All the songs under consideration contain some categories of medial formulas. Besides having the categories of medial formulas, the songs with their own plot contain some groups of initial formulas (“Song of the broom”, “Sippie”, “Ann with candy”). Three songs lack categories of initial formulas (“The song about cuckoo”, “The bull’s Song”, “The pedestrian’s Song”), all of them having only the categories of medial formulas. All these songs have the following medial formulas: formulas defining the characters’ image, formulas describing the characters’ actions, formulas included in the dialogue (typical characters’ phrases). There are no categories of final formulas in these songs. Whi le the categories of initial formulas in Yakut folk tales are used once, in folk songs, as in Olonkho, they can be repeated several times. Whereas the medial formulas in folk tales are found in the middle of the story, in folk songs, they can be found in all parts of the text.","PeriodicalId":112261,"journal":{"name":"Languages and Folklore of Indigenous Peoples of Siberia","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114771884","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
