The conditions for oscillation and the resulting limits of the parameters of this astable collector-coupled multivibrator are defined. The stability of oscillation in relation to the change of the power supply voltage and the change of the transistor parameters with temperature is examined. With the help of these diagrams, modes of operation of such converters are identified. Once the operating mode is identified for any given set of load circuit parameters and trigger angle, then the corresponding equations can be chosen with which the performance analysis can be carried out. Minimum inductance necessary in the load circuit for continuous current operation of three-phase converters is evaluated through a method wherein the load circuit resistance is neglected. A graphical solution is given for the evaluation of minimum inductance in those cases where the load circuit resistance may not be negligible.","PeriodicalId":109541,"journal":{"name":"IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics and Control Instrumentation","volume":"223 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1981-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116016770","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of the present paper is to demonstrate and analyze an oscillatory process in three dimensions. The mathematical model considered possesses, as solutions in steady state, three stable sinusoidal waveforms arranged symmetrically as is usual in a three-phase supply system. The dynamic behavior of the model is thoroughly investigated and it is shown that it is related to the dynamic behavior of a well-known symmetrical quadrature oscillator in two phases. This relationship suggests that a practical system realized according to the model equations should possess the properties of a high-quality quickly responding voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO). This useful feature has been demonstrated experimentally by investigating the performance of a corresponding instrument.","PeriodicalId":109541,"journal":{"name":"IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics and Control Instrumentation","volume":"117 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1981-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126715599","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

First, assuming that the state variables are available for feedback, the pole-assignment technique is used to determine the feedback gains required to achieve a desired set of closed-loop poles. This assumption is relaxed and an observer is designed to estimate the control law using output feedback. The unstable plant is simulated on a TR48 analog computer with the controller in the feedback loop. Active network implementation of the controller is discussed.","PeriodicalId":109541,"journal":{"name":"IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics and Control Instrumentation","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1981-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129954391","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The suitability of the proposed scheme is demonstrated in the case of a reversible dc drive based on the familiar Ward-Leonard scheme. A general method of suppressing a sideband frequency of the modulated public system and the results of the initial work carried out with a view to realizing a frequency changer are described. Herein is shown that for a given modulation ratio, depending on the modulating wave sequence, either of the sideband frequencies in relation to the public supply could be realized with the other completely eliminated. It is concluded that the amplitude-modulated power supply may well prove to be complimentary to the conventional cycloconverter in addition to the frequencies obtainable which are outside the frequencies available from a normal cycloconverter.","PeriodicalId":109541,"journal":{"name":"IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics and Control Instrumentation","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1981-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127666824","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
