We describe a strategy of resource brokering based on the prediction of execution time and parallelization efficiency of algorithms using a BSP computation model and Pareto optimality with a weight coefficients approach for choosing optimal solution. Our results show a reasonable adaptation of the resource brokering strategy to the environment of a real computational cluster providing the minimal total time to delivery of the parallel application.","PeriodicalId":106306,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 6th IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Data Acquisition and Advanced Computing Systems","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129916023","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

That is, taking into account the temporal evolution of the process in the discrimination that must be made. To this end we have considered a particular type of artificial neural networks with trainable delays in their synapses. The classification scheme is studied and applied to the case of resin curing processes. Several test cases involving different proportions of resin components as well as certain environmental conditions such as humidity were created and the system was tested over them producing very promising results.","PeriodicalId":106306,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 6th IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Data Acquisition and Advanced Computing Systems","volume":"227 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134178945","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This scientific area requires powerful computing resources for exploring large sets of biological data. Multiple sequence alignment is an important method in the DNA and protein analysis. ClustalW has become the most popular tool and implements a progressive method for multiple sequence alignment. The goal of this paper is to propose the performance evaluation of the efficiency of parallel multiple alignment on the supercomputer BlueGene/P for the case study of investigating viral nucleotide sequences and finding out consensus motifs and variable domains in the different segments of influenza virus A genome. Parallel performance evaluation and profiling of multiple sequence alignment have been performed on the basis of parallel program implementation based on ClustalW method and a local mirror database of all available isolates of the 8 segments of the influenza virus A. The molecular biology outcome of the experiments is that the consensus and the variable domains in Influenza virus A under investigation have been determined and output by utilizing the biological sequence alignment editor UGENE UniPro.","PeriodicalId":106306,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 6th IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Data Acquisition and Advanced Computing Systems","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132919655","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Gaming simulation is used for identifying the impact of ambiguity and urgency on project participants' attitudes in the early phase. By ambiguity we mean lack of clarity of goals and objectives of the project. Urgency refers to time pressure, in the sense that the project has to be completed within specified time frame. The results of the experiments shows that ambiguity and urgency leads to three significant response patterns by the project participants 1) the tendency to overly focus on the technical solution, 2) the tendency to make unverified assumptions 3) significance rise to personal emotions, such as fear, diffidence, competitiveness and eagerness. The results obtained using gaming simulation as a research method are consistent with previously published studies. The paper concludes that gaming simulation can be used in project management research. Threats to validity and reliability can be controlled to a satisfactory level if the game design and configuration guarantee an adequate level of realism and insight.","PeriodicalId":106306,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 6th IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Data Acquisition and Advanced Computing Systems","volume":"22 11","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133719599","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Application of the mathematical modeling to decision making problems in Polish coal mines however today's becomes very important. Hence we have numerous of the tests to application of the different mathematical methods supporting decision making in the coal mines. We should have to mention about the tests application of game-theory methods to decision making in coal mine industry. The game-theoretical approach to the planning and management of materials needs in the mining enterprise is presented. The hierarchical two-person non-zero-sum game was developed and justified. For the pure strategies of two persons-players (a government and its laws from one side, and a mining enterprise from another side) a game — decision selected in a form of the Stackelberg optimal strategies. A scenario of the proposed game has been verified on the example of real data from the coal mine.","PeriodicalId":106306,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 6th IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Data Acquisition and Advanced Computing Systems","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129413272","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The estimation method would be useful for human-machine interfaces as myoelectric prostheses. In this paper, the model-based estimation method from the MP is considered. Hence two wrist models are introduced and investigated. Those models come from simple observation based on the physical aspect, i.e., musculoskeletal systems. One of them is a one-link model considering the moment arm. The other is illustrated by a multi-body model with a half-moon-shaped rigid body rolling inside a bowl body, and we call it a half-moon-shape model in this paper. The wrist angle estimation is performed by simulating the behavior of the wrist using each derived model with measured MP signals. The effectiveness of those models for the wrist angle estimation is verified through experiments by comparing the results.","PeriodicalId":106306,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 6th IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Data Acquisition and Advanced Computing Systems","volume":"128 18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128262863","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
