Among the key features of the developed e-axle, the high torque density 6-phase synchronous motor is fed by an high efficiency inverter adopting the last generation of SiC power MOSFETs. A DC/DC converter between the battery and the inverter permits a regulated high voltage dc-link during traction, and provides embedded compatibility with fast charging stations having different voltage ratings up to 800V. The e-axle is completed by a single speed transmission gearbox, an innovative cooling system and an on-board charger. Dedicated algorithms are developed for the control of the motor and the DC/DC converter, to maximize the efficiency during traction exploiting a variable dc-link voltage. After an overview and description of each e-axle component, the paper also details the planned exploitation strategy of the developed technologies.","PeriodicalId":104806,"journal":{"name":"2020 AEIT International Conference of Electrical and Electronic Technologies for Automotive (AEIT AUTOMOTIVE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130888752","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The basic operation of the converter is described and the stresses on the major passive components (i.e. DC-link capacitors, differential-mode inductors, common-mode chokes) are calculated, highlighting the general performance trade-off of each modulation strategy. This analysis is applied to a rectifier for electric vehicle (EV) ultra-fast charging connected to the European low-voltage grid (i.e. 50 Hz, 400 V line-to-line), adopting a 650 V DC-link. The best candidates concerning different performance metrics are identified and the most suitable strategy for EV battery charging is selected.","PeriodicalId":104806,"journal":{"name":"2020 AEIT International Conference of Electrical and Electronic Technologies for Automotive (AEIT AUTOMOTIVE)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132095248","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A suitable design and power flow management of these components can remarkably mitigate the battery stress due to heavy charge/discharge power peak requirements, particularly in an urban traffic context. The proposed refined models of batteries and SCs enable a more accurate reproduction of the system performances in a highly uneven route, taking into account various electrical and mechanical issues. The optimal rating of the energy storage components for a typical urban drive cycle can then be identified by further parametric analyses.","PeriodicalId":104806,"journal":{"name":"2020 AEIT International Conference of Electrical and Electronic Technologies for Automotive (AEIT AUTOMOTIVE)","volume":"98 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132121365","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Identified patters are useful for developing more realistic models to simulate activities of citizens related to mobility and households energy consumption. These models are required to test and develop simulation scenarios of future smart grids and cities. In this work we apply the k-modes algorithm to clusterize the Italian TUS data-set. For the best of our knowledge this is the only study that applied unsupervised clusterization and classification of Italian TUS data and the only one that extended the analysis to mobility activities of the TUS data-sets. From experimental results we obtained different clusters for weekdays, saturdays and holidays, respectively.","PeriodicalId":104806,"journal":{"name":"2020 AEIT International Conference of Electrical and Electronic Technologies for Automotive (AEIT AUTOMOTIVE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133701199","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Prescribed by the fast-paced world of consumer electronics, end-user expectations have been shaped in regard to time-to-market, update frequency and availability. High flexibility and, specifically in the automotive context, strict fault tolerance are demanded by the underlying both on- and offboard data infrastructure in order to be able to quickly react to rapidly changing demands and requirements during the lifetime of automobiles. Recent trends indicate a shift towards flexible and isolated, thus fault tolerant, software components that can be transparently deployed over the air. Latest developments have further led to portable, efficient and sandboxed representations of executables like WebAssembly. Contrary to cloud-first strategies, streaming all relevant data to the cloud and analyzing it offboard is, due to oft-needed high sample frequency and thus vastly increased data traffic, not always feasible. We therefore explore and discuss the potential of an efficient, scalable and unified distributed onboard computing- and data-acquisition-platform based on WebAssembly across a wide variety of vehicular electronic control units.","PeriodicalId":104806,"journal":{"name":"2020 AEIT International Conference of Electrical and Electronic Technologies for Automotive (AEIT AUTOMOTIVE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129347109","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Similarly, commercial solutions already benefit from SiC traction inverter in terms of performance as well as in terms of economical investment. Notwithstanding, the good features there are some issues due to the fast switching ability of SiC MOSFET. In such a contest, is the fine-tuning of a proper simulation tool is the first for an optimal design of the conversion systems, especially, the snubbers necessary to mitigate turn-off overvoltage and ringing of SiC MOSFET devices. In this perspective, this paper combines Ansys Q3D analysis and Spice simulations to foresee the SiC MOSFET Power Module waveforms. The experimental results have highlighted a good accuracy of the tool at predicting the performance of the module and the boundary operating conditions.","PeriodicalId":104806,"journal":{"name":"2020 AEIT International Conference of Electrical and Electronic Technologies for Automotive (AEIT AUTOMOTIVE)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121109254","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nevertheless, the packaging in WBG devices represents a challenge for designers due to the notable impact that inductive and capacitive parasitic components can bring in high switching frequency regime in terms of noise and power losses. In this paper, a comparison between conventional Silicon (Si) and emerging Silicon-Carbide (SiC) power switching devices is presented. The effects of inductive parasitic effects and switching frequency are investigated in simulation on a typical switching circuit and power losses are compared as well. Experimental results concerning a SiC-based circuit are shown and investigated in a preliminary printed circuit board (PCB).","PeriodicalId":104806,"journal":{"name":"2020 AEIT International Conference of Electrical and Electronic Technologies for Automotive (AEIT AUTOMOTIVE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128300086","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the absence of exterior sound in Hybrid and Electrical Vehicles, especially at low speeds, may negatively affect pedestrian safety. While regulations mandate the adoption of Acoustic Vehicle Alert Systems, they also leave freedom to manufacturers and sound designers to find proper warning sounds, able not only to fulfill safety requirements but also to preserve the brand identity. This paper presents the most relevant initiatives around warning sound design, from the scientific state-of-art to the industrial implementations and R&D projects, taking into account the warning sound assessment methodologies imposed by regulations.","PeriodicalId":104806,"journal":{"name":"2020 AEIT International Conference of Electrical and Electronic Technologies for Automotive (AEIT AUTOMOTIVE)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114767280","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
