In this article, I will retrace that journey from personal memories and notes, conversations with the leaders in the room, and documents and minutes generously provided by ABOG and the American Urogynecologic Society (AUGS). I tend to fall in the latter group, and I firmly believe that it stems from my experience as an immigrant. Patients allocated to receive VP had a 45% lower rate of preterm birth (8.9% vs 16.1%; relative risk = 0.55; 95% CI: 0.33-0.92). Neonates born to mothers allocated to VP had a 60% reduction in the rate of respiratory distress syndrome. Integrated behavioral health care offers a collaborative and cost-effective solution to enhance patient care and clinician satisfaction. Despite this, these conditions remain undertreated. Behavioral health integration in outpatient obstetric settings is necessary but insufficient to meet the needs of all patients. Inpatient behavioral health integration represents a promising avenue for addressing gaps in care. {"title":"GSM and Quality of Life Measures.","authors":"Susan J Diem, Elisheva R Danan","doi":"10.1097/GRF.0000000000000836","DOIUrl":"10.1097/GRF.0000000000000836","url":null,"abstract":"<p><p>The impact of bothersome vulvovaginal symptoms related to hypoestrogenism on quality of life (QOL) has been evaluated in large international surveys and qualitative studies of vulvovaginal atrophy, most of which were completed before the introduction of the term genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM) and focus primarily on vulvovaginal atrophy. The QOL domain most affected in these studies is sexual function, although women also report impacts on self-confidence, self-esteem, sleep, and general enjoyment of life.
