It takes into account the recent research that has been done with regard to environmental aspects, economic constraints and actual operational disassembly factories. The method is based on a linear programming formalism and aims to integrate in a single model: product, system and context data. These data represent structural and end-of-life description of product, organization and resources of disassembly system, and the political and economical conjunctures. This model serves to find the optimal disassembly plan by optimizing the disassembly process profit as an objective function within an optimization problem. A set of constraints represents many product, system and context features.","PeriodicalId":101913,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the IEEE International Symposium onAssembly and Task Planning, 2003.","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2003-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116921436","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They are called dynamic manipulation. We introduced tossing manipulation as one of dynamic manipulation. In this paper, tossing manipulation is expanded to catch the tossed object without impact. It is called passing manipulation. A pair of 1-DOF manipulators is used as a tossing manipulator and a catching manipulator. First, the tossing manipulator swings its arm to roll/slide an object on it, and tosses the object. Next, the object is thrown to the catching manipulator. Then, the catching manipulator swings its arm to contact the object without impact, and manipulates it on the arm. Finally, the object stands still on the catching arm. This paper shows a kinematic model of passing manipulation, and the kinematic model is analyzed. Furthermore, a method to search optimal passing manipulation is described. Finally, optimal solutions are simulated and discussed.","PeriodicalId":101913,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the IEEE International Symposium onAssembly and Task Planning, 2003.","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2003-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115421330","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This representation should consist of geometric information and assembly-specific features, e.g. information on handling, connections and precedence relations. In developing such a feature-based representation, many issues have to be taken into consideration concerning the main purpose of the model. This paper intends to introduce the problem background and give an overview of the conceptual requirements that are set for the representation in the project at hand. It also introduces the product model representation fulfilling the stated requirements; the process-based assembly representation. A collaborative design environment will be used for the modelling process. The underlying idea is to have a product model presented as assembly processes in the same manner as the production equipment will be presented. This will enable the mapping of the processes and, thus, the planning and optimisation of reconfigurable assembly lines.","PeriodicalId":101913,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the IEEE International Symposium onAssembly and Task Planning, 2003.","volume":"26 4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2003-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116164155","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To allow close monitoring of magnitude and direction of forces (surface, friction, and assembly force) acting on micro devices during manipulation, the polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) is used to fabricate highly sensitive 1-D and 2-D force sensors for assembly of micro devices. By using the designed force sensors with the effective signal processing techniques, the contact force/impact signal can be obtained desirably so that it greatly improves the reliability of force regulation in microassembly. Moreover, based on a new sensor-referenced control method, the force control had been implemented by employing a micromanipulator system equipped with the force sensor and its results verify the effectiveness of sensor model as well as the performance of force feedback and control system. Ultimately the technology will provide a critical and major step towards the development of automated manufacturing processes for batch assembly of micro devices.","PeriodicalId":101913,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the IEEE International Symposium onAssembly and Task Planning, 2003.","volume":"299302 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2003-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123449377","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To do so, effects of manufacturing variations have to be reduced. Therefore, the tolerance synthesis has become an important issue in product design process. A mathematical formulation of tolerance synthesis is described in this paper. This mathematical formulation is based on variational geometry, and takes into account not only manufacturing variations and gaps, but also the assembly sequences and nature of contacts between parts. This formulation integrates the quantifier notion (existential quantifier \"there exists\", universal quantifier \"for all\"). This notion modelizes the concept that an assembly requirement must be respected in at least one acceptable configuration of gaps (/spl exist/), or that an assembly requirement must be respected for all acceptable configurations of gaps (/spl forall/).","PeriodicalId":101913,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the IEEE International Symposium onAssembly and Task Planning, 2003.","volume":"2016 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2003-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127413709","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The sizes of the devices continue to decrease to the nanometer scale. At the same time, the complexity of those devices has increased. To achieve the desired functionality, different materials are required for making different components. Consequently, micro- and nano-assembly has to be performed. A micro- and nano-assembly system using optical tweezers has been developed. This paper describes an information framework for a nano-assembly system. The framework contains the following components: a use case model, component model, activity model, class diagram, and interaction model. These components are all described using the Unified Modeling Language. In fact, in real world, where problems are essentially of dynamic and stochastic nature, these methods or algorithms are of very little use. This is the case with most algorithms for solving the so-called static scheduling problem for different setting of both single and multi-machine systems arrangements. This paper is concerned with a scheduling system, based on Genetic Algorithms, for the resolution of the dynamic version of the same problem. An additional constraint will be considered in our approach for the JSSP, the existence of different job release and due dates and different assembly levels for the jobs.","PeriodicalId":101913,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the IEEE International Symposium onAssembly and Task Planning, 2003.","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2003-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132673532","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
