This case features a patient presenting with pelvic discomfort, vaginal odor, and a foreign object identified on imaging. In the advent of artificial intelligence guiding clinical practice, this case emphasizes the absolute necessity of a complete hands-on physical examination. The importance of prompt diagnosis, comprehensive management, and patient-centered education revolves around a fairly common primary care or urgent care complaint that nurse practitioners are bound to experience.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":101233,"journal":{"name":"The Journal for Nurse Practitioners","volume":"21 8","pages":"Article 105459"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"144524293","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This quality improvement project aimed to improve HPV vaccination rates among 11- to 19-year-olds at a pediatric primary care clinic (n = 89). Providers used motivational interviewing, presumptive approach, and a customized educational handout to guide HPV vaccine recommendations. HPV vaccination increased from 55% pre-intervention to 76.4% post-intervention. Refusal rates were twice as high for patients over 12 years old compared with 11-year-olds (27% vs 13%). First-time vaccine recommendations via shared decision-making and purposive communication approaches resulted in half as many same-day vaccination refusals. Improving HPV vaccination rates can be accomplished with low-cost, easy-to-implement approaches.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":101233,"journal":{"name":"The Journal for Nurse Practitioners","volume":"21 8","pages":"Article 105455"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"144513816","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Key challenges such as identifying suitable patients and securing consultant consensus were addressed through collaboration, trust-building, and the clinical expertise of clinical nurse specialists. Educational initiatives, including shadowing and mentorship, supported junior staff development. The NLSLC has enhanced patient engagement, streamlined care, and improved service efficiency. As the clinic evolves, the model demonstrates adaptability and relevance for replication in other ACHD centers and long-term care settings, particularly where nurse practitioners are integral to service delivery. Future directions include expanding clinic capacity and fostering broader collaboration with regional and national ACHD services to advance and standardize nurse-led care.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":101233,"journal":{"name":"The Journal for Nurse Practitioners","volume":"21 8","pages":"Article 105452"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-06-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"144490183","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many individuals face high levels of stress, further impacting mental health. Antidepressants and antipsychotics are commonly prescribed, yet misconceptions persist, and some health care providers may lack training in treating major depressive disorder, its subtypes, and difficult-to-treat depression, including anxious depression. Recent clinical guidelines recommend using adjunctive therapies, such as aripiprazole and brexpiprazole, earlier after a poor response to initial antidepressant treatment.
