The lesion is torpedo-shaped with its torpedo-like tip pointing towards the fovea. As an incidental finding, it often affects only one eye with no damage to central visual acuity. According to its characteristics on OCT, it is divided into 2 types: type Ⅰ , attenuation of outer retinal structures without outer retinal cavitation; type Ⅱ, those with both attenuation of outer retinal structures and outer retinal cavitation. Diseases with pigment changes in the RPE layer similar to torpedo maculopathy include congenital hypertrophy of the RPE, RPE lesions in Gardner syndrome, etc. The main point to distinguish the disease from other diseases is its unique location and shape. Most of the torpedo maculopathy lesions are stable and do not require special treatment, but the disease can be complicated by neurosensory retinal detachment, choroidal neovascularization and so on, and symptomatic treatment is needed if necessary. \u0000 \u0000 \u0000Key words: \u0000Retinal pigment epithelium/injuries; Macular degeneration; Review; Torpedo maculopathy

The patients were divided into two groups: one with the first-visit in ophthalmology (FVO) and the other with the first-visit in non-ophthalmology (FVNO). All patients underwent visual acuity, intraocular pressure, slit lamp microscope and indirect ophthalmoscope examinations. Thirty-nine eyes of 21 patients with clear refractive media were examined by color fundus photography, of which 5 patients were examined by FFA. Five patients examined by OCT and B-mode ultrasound. The CMVR were characterized as fulminant type or indolent type. All the 22 patients (41 eyes) except 2 patients (4 eyes) accepted highly active antiroviral therapy, and all patients were treated with ganciclovir intravenously. Nine patients (12 eyes) received intravitreal injection of ganciclovir, 7 patients (10 eyes) underwent vitrectomy because of retinal detachment, 6 patients (7 eyes) gave up surgery because of extensive retinal detachment, and the other 12 eyes did not undergo any eye surgery. All patients were followed for 6-58 months (average 23±39 months). The incidences and fundus characteristics of the patients with fulminant or indolent CMVR were compared and analyzed. Between the two groups, the difference of visual acuity and CD4+T cell count at the first vist and the last follow-up were analyzed by a t-test, and the macular involvement and spread of the two groups were compared by a chi-square test. \u0000 \u0000 \u0000Results \u0000Fulminant CMVR showed dense yellow-white necrotic lesions along the great vessels with or without satellite lesions, while indolent CMVR showed sparse yellow-white granular lesions with a little bleeding. VEGF is mainly involved in increasing retinal vascular permeability and inducing neovascularization. Pigment epithelium derived factor is vital reducing vascular permeability and neuroprotection; IL plays a key role in mediating inflammatory response. TNF-α is related to inflammation, which is significantly up-regulated by hypoxia. TGF-β is an important cytokine regulating cell proliferation and differentiation. Connective tissue growth factor can promote the growth, migration and adhesion of endothelial cell. In addition, many other molecular mechanisms have not been fully elucidated, and further study on the molecular mechanism of DR is urgent. With the further study of molecular mechanism, the early intervention and targeted treatment of DR will be more effective. \u0000 \u0000 \u0000Key words: \u0000Diabetic retinopathy; Vitreous body; Cytokines; Review

After LV-PSF infected hRMECs in vitro, the infection efficiency was measured by flow cytometry. Real-time quantitative PCR (RT-PCR) was used to detect the expression of PSF mRNA in hRMECs infected with LV-PSF. The experiment was divided into two parts, in vivo and in vitro. In vivo experiments: 20 healthy C57B/L6 mice at the age of postnatal 7 were randomly divided into normal group, oxygen-induced retinopathy (OIR) group, OIR+LV-Vec group, and OIR+LV-PSF group, each group has five mice. Mice in 3 groups were constructed with OIR models except the normal group and the mice in OIR group were not treated. The mice in the OIR + LV-Vec group and the OIR+LV-PSF group were injected with an empty vector (LV-Vec) or LV-PSF in the vitreous cavity, respectively. The effect of LV-PSF on the formation of retinal neovascularization (RNV) was observed then. In vitro experiments: hRMECs were divided into normal group, hypoxia group, vector group, and PSF high expression group. HRMECs in the normal group were cultured in vitro; hRMECs in the hypoxic group were restored to normal culture conditions for 3 h after 3 h of hypoxia stimulation; hRMECs in the vector group and PSF high expression group were infected with LV-Vec and LV-PSF for 48 h, and hRMECs were returned to normal culture conditions for 24 h with hypoxia stimulation for 3 h. The effect of PSF on cell proliferation was observed by MTT colorimetry. Cell scratch test and Transwell migration experiment were used to observe the effect of PSF on cell migration ability under hypoxia stimulation. RT-PCR was used to observe the mRNA expression of HIF-1α, VEGF and PSF in each group of cells. \u0000 \u0000 \u0000Results \u0000The LV-PSF of stably expressing PSF was successfully constructed. The infection efficiency was 97% determined by flow cytometry. The level of PSF mRNA in hRMECs infected with LV-PSF was significantly increased and detected by RT-PCR. In vivo experiments: The RNV area of the mice in the OIR group and the OIR + LV-Vec group was significantly increased compared to the normal group (t=18.31, 43.71), and the RNV area of the mice in the OIR + LV-PSF group was smaller than that in the OIR group (t=11.30) and OIR + The LV-Vec group (t=15.47), and the differences were statistically significant (P 0.05); compared with the hypoxia group and the vector group, the HIF-1α and VEGF mRNA expression in hRMECs in the PSF high expression group were significantly decreased (t=10.18, 13.10; P<0.05), but the PSF mRNA expression increased (t=65.00, 85.79; P<0.05). \u0000 \u0000 \u0000Conclusion \u0000PSF can reduce the RNV area in OIR model mice. Fifty-eight patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and 16 normal subjects who were admitted to Wuhan General Hospital of the PLA from November 2017 to May 2018 were enrolled in this study. All patients had not received any ophthalmologic treatment. All patients were examined by the default "DR assessment protocol" model of the RETeval device, and the "DR score" were measured by the system. The FFA results were used as the gold standard, and the DR was graded according to the international DR grading standard established in 2002. Patients were divided into vision threatening DR (VTDR) positive group and VTDR (−) group, DR (+) group and DR (−) group. Two independent sample t tests was used to compare the implicit time, amplitude, and pupil area ratio between eyes of different groups. Spearman correlation analysis was used to analyze the relationship between "DR score" and DR severity. The receiver operating characteristic area under the curve (AUC) assesses the sensitivity and specificity of RETeval in detecting DR and VTDR. The threshold of sensitivity and specificity was determined by using the maximum Youden index as a standard. \u0000 \u0000 \u0000Results \u0000The AUC of DR was 0.936, the sensitivity was 81%, the specificity was 92%; the AUC of VTDR was 0.976, the sensitivity was 96% and the specificity was 70%. Compared with DR (−) group, the implicit time of DR (+) group was delayed and the amplitude and pupil area were decreased (t=-13.43, 5.49, 6.09; P=0.000, 0.000, 0.000). From June 2001 to Aprilh 2013, pathological sections from 102 eyes of 102 patients with uveal melanoma diagnosed in Beijing Tongren Eye Center were included in the study. The sections were divided into group A (mushroom shaped uveal melanoma, 30 eyes) and group B (flat, hemisperical and spherical uveal melanoma, 72 eyes). The height-to-base ratio was calculated. The tumors size was divided into small, medium and large according to the standards of American Multicentre Study of Ocular Melanoma. The tumor cell type was divided into spindle, epithelioid, mixed and others by Improved Callender taxonomy. Motic Med 6.0 software was used to collect and measure the images. The retinal thinning rate of group A and B was compared by χ2 test. \u0000 \u0000 \u0000Results \u0000In group A, large size in 19 eyes (63.3%), medium size in 11 eyes (36.7%). In group B, large size in 49 eyes (68.1%), medium size in 16 eyes (22.%), small size in 7 eyes(9.7%). In group A and B, the average tumor base diameter were 14.2±5.1 mm and 18.7±6.4 mm, respectively; the average tumor height were 10.0±2.1 mm and 7.6±3.9, respectively; the height-to-base ratio were 0.77±0.29 and 0.44±0.28, respectively. In group A, spindle type in 24 eyes (80.0%), epithelioid type in 1 eye (3.3%), mixed type in 5 eyes (16.7%). In group B, spindle type in 52 eyes (72.2%), epithelioid type in 5 eyes (6.9%), mixed type in 11 eyes (15.3%), and others in 4 eyes (5.6%). The proportion of retinal thinning were 73.3% (22 eyes) and 29.2% (21 eyes) in group A and B, respectively. The difference in the proportion of retinal thinning between group A and B was significant (χ2=16.94, P=0.000). \u0000 \u0000 \u0000Conclusion \u0000The height of the tumor increased rapidly and the retinal thinning rate is high in mushroom shaped uveal melanoma. \u0000 \u0000 \u0000Key words: \u0000Uveal neoplasma/pathology; Melanoma/pathology

In view of the important role of VEGF in the development of CNV, targeted therapy with various intraocular anti-VEGF drugs is the first-line treatment for wAMD. However, the efficacy of anti-VEGF drugs in the treatment of wAMD is affected by a variety of factors, and some patients still have problems such as unresponsiveness, drug resistence, tachyphylaxis, long-term repeated injections, and severe adverse effects. It is the direction of future researches to deeply explore the physiological and pathological process of wAMD, find the cause of CNV formation, and seek better therapies. \u0000 \u0000 \u0000Key words: \u0000Wet macular degeneration/drug therapy; Choroidal neovascularization/drug therapy; Angiogenesis inhibitors/therapeutic use; Review

From January 2010 to December 2017, 66 RB patients diagnosed in Ophthalmology Department of West China Hospital of Sichuan University were included in the study. All the patients underwent ocular B-ultrasound, orbital CT or MRI examination. Ten patients underwent RetCam examination at the same time. Twenty-nine patients were diagnosed by histopathological examination, and 37 patients were diagnosed by clinical symptoms and imaging examination. According to whether the tumor invaded the orbit and optic nerve, it could be divided into extraocular stage and intraocular stage. Intraocular tumors were divided into A-E stages according to the international intraocular RB classification. Treatments were performed according to different stages. The general information, age at diagnosis, course of diseases (the time between onset symptoms and diagnosis), causes of visiting a doctor, classification, treatment methods and eyeball preservation rate were retrospectively analyzed. \u0000 \u0000 \u0000Results \u0000Patients all came from Southwest China (56 patients from Sichuan Province, 2 patients from Yunnan Province, 2 patients from Guizhou Province, and 6 patients from Tibet). The permanent residence were identified in 43 patients, including 27 patients (62.8%) from rural areas. There were 38 males (57.6%); 50 unilateral tumors (75.8%) and 16 bilateral tumors (24.2%); 51 first-visiting patients (77.3%) and 15 re-visiting patients (22.7%). The average diagnostic age of first-visiting patients was 20.9±14.4 months, with 23.2±14.7 and 11.2±7.6 months for unilateral and bilateral tumors, respectively. There were 41 patients had definite course and causes, of whom the average course was 90.6±115.2 days. The most common cause was leucocoria in 32 patients (62.7%), followed by redness and swelling in 4 patients (9.8%), and other causes in 5 patients (12.2%). Among the 15 re-visiting patients, the average diagnostic age was 63.6±46.8 months, the average course was 32.8±45.5 months. Recurrence was occurred in 5 patients (33.3%), leucocoria in 4 patients (26.7%), postoperative complication in 3 patients (20.0%), protrusion in 2 patients (13.3%) and redness in 1 (6.7%) patient, respectively. Fifty out of 82 eyes were admitted to hospital, including 37 eyes of first-visiting patients and 13 eyes of re-visiting patients. Among 37 first-visiting eyes, there were 5 eyes (13.5%) in stage A-C, 26 eyes (70.3%) in stage D-E, 6 eyes (16.2%) in extraocular stage. Five eyes in stage A-C were treated with laser photocoagulation and (or) cryotherapy combined with systemic chemotherapy. Four eyes in stage D were treated with intraocular arterial chemotherapy. Nineteen eyes (51.3%) were performed with enucleation, 2 eyes (5.4%) with evisceration and 7 eyes (18.9%) abandoned treatment.
