A novel tunnel construction method, known as the suspension method, is introduced in this paper to mitigate surface settlement. The suspension method employs vertical tie rods to establish a structural connection between the initial tunnel support system and the surface steel beam, thereby exerting effective control settlements. To analyze the performance of the proposed method, systematic numerical simulations were conducted based on the practical engineering of Harbin Subway Line 3. The surface settlement and vault settlement characteristics during construction are investigated. The results show a gradual increment in both surface and vault settlement throughout the construction process, culminating in a stabilized state upon the completion of construction. In addition, compared to the double-side drift method and the Cross Diaphragm Method (CRD) method, the suspension method can obviously reduce the surface settlement and vault settlement. Moreover, the surface settlements and the axial force of tie rods were continuously monitored during the construction process at the trial tunnel block. These specific monitoring measurements are illustrated in comparison to numerical analysis results. The monitored results show great agreement with the numerical predictions, confirming the success of the project. This research can serve as a valuable practical reference for similar projects, offering insights and guidance for addressing ground surface settlements and enhancing construction safety in the domain of large cross-section tunneling.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":100607,"journal":{"name":"High-speed Railway","volume":"1 4","pages":"Pages 224-232"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"143200326","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper first describes the basic principles of stochastic subspace identification, peak-picking, and frequency domain decomposition method in modal analysis based on ambient excitation, and the effectiveness of these three methods is verified through finite element calculation and numerical simulation. Then the damage element is added to the finite element model to simulate the crack, and the curvature mode difference and the curvature mode area difference square ratio are calculated by using the stochastic subspace identification results to verify their ability of damage identification and location. Finally, the above modal and damage identification techniques are integrated to develop a bridge modal and damage identification software platform. In this paper, a composite control scheme for the EMS is proposed to suppress track irregularities by integrating a Refined Disturbance Observer (RDO) and a Prescribed Performance Fixed-Time Controller (PPFTC). The RDO is designed to estimate precisely the track irregularities and lumped disturbances with uncertainties and exogenous disturbances in the suspension system, and reduce input chattering by applying to the disturbance compensation channel. PPFTC is designed to converge the suspension air gap error to equilibrium point with prescribed performance by completing error conversion, and solve the fast dynamic issue of EMS. Specifically, the entire life cycle carbon emissions of High-Speed Rail (HSR), battery electric vehicles, conventional internal combustion engine vehicles, battery electric buses, and conventional internal combustion engine buses are analyzed. The life cycle is segmented into vehicle manufacturing, fuel or electricity production, operational, and dismantling-recycling stages. This analysis is applied to the Beijing-Tianjin intercity transportation system to explore emission reduction strategies. Results indicate that HSR demonstrates significant carbon emission reduction, with an intensity of only 24 %–32 % compared to private vehicles and 47 %–89 % compared to buses. Notably, HSR travel for Beijing-Tianjin intercity emits only 24 % of private vehicle emissions, demonstrating the emission reduction benefits of transportation structure optimization. The edge-cloud collaboration scheme is proved efficient to reduce the latency. However, the data characteristics and communication demand of the tasks in the railway environment monitoring system are all different and changeable, and the latency contribution of each task to the system is discrepant. Hence, two valid latency minimization strategies based on the edge-cloud collaboration scheme is developed in this paper. First, the processing resources are allocated to the tasks based on the priorities, and the tasks are processed parallelly with the allocated resources to minimize the system valid latency. Furthermore, considering the differences in the data volume of the tasks, which will induce the waste of the resources for the tasks finished in advance. Thus, the tasks with similar priorities are graded into the same group, and the serial and parallel processing strategies are performed intra-group and inter-group simultaneously. Compared with the other four strategies in four railway monitoring scenarios, the proposed strategies proved latency efficiency to the high-priority tasks, and the system valid latency is reduced synchronously. The performance of the railway environment monitoring system in security and efficiency will be promoted greatly with the proposed scheme and strategies.</p></div>","PeriodicalId":100607,"journal":{"name":"High-speed Railway","volume":"1 3","pages":"Pages 185-194"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2949867823000363/pdfft?md5=0ec6a48b35b6c531cb645df9e6226a6b&pid=1-s2.0-S2949867823000363-main.pdf","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91668671","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
