Materials and Methods: Thirty-six extracted molars were divided into three groups and their buccal surfaces were reduced to expose flat dentin surfaces. In group 1 Single Bond Universal Adhesive SBU was used, in group 2 Peak universal Bond PUB was applied while in group 3 Chlorhexidine Gluconate Disinfecting Solution followed by Single Bond Universal Adhesive (CHX+SBU) was used. Application of resin composite restorations was performed in all three groups. For each bonding procedure, specimens were subdivided into three subgroups according to storage period (24 hours, three & six months). After storage, resin-dentin slabs were obtained, immersed in silver nitrate and then photo developed. NL was evaluated with scanning electron microscopy. Data were explored for normality using Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk tests and showed parametric distribution. One-way ANOVA followed by Tukey post hoc test was used to compare between more than two groups in non-related samples. Repeated measure ANOVA test was used to compare between more than two groups in related samples. Paired sample t-test was used to compare between two groups in related samples. Two-way ANOVA was used to test the interaction between different variables. The significance level was set at P ≤ 0.05. Statistical analysis was performed with IBMSPSSStatistics Version 20 for Windows. Results: No statistically significant difference was detected between SBU, PUB and CHX SBU at 24 hours. For stored specimens, there was no statistically significant difference between (SBU) and PUB, but a statistically significant difference occurred between both of them and CHX SBU. Conclusions: Chlorhexidine containing universal adhesive suppressed the occurrence of nanoleakage at the interface, while chlorhexidine as a therapeutic primer had an adverse effect. Water storage negatively affected bond durability of chlorhexidine containing and free universal adhesives by showing more nanoleakage at the interface.","PeriodicalId":100562,"journal":{"name":"Future Dental Journal","volume":"183 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74626620","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the colour of CAD/CAM lithium disilicate veneers fabricated in different thicknesses and different translucencies of the lithium disilicate blocks. Materials and Methods: Forty discs of lithium disilicate glass-ceramic (IPS e.max CAD) of shade A1 of both high and low translucency (HT, LT) were tested for their colour reproduction. HT and low LT blocks were cut in the form of plates of dimensions (12 x 14 mm) and of different thicknesses (0.3 mm, 0.5 mm, 0.7 mm, and 0.9 mm). Twenty specimens of each translucency were classified into three sub-groups according to thickness (n=5). Colour reproduction (∆E) was determined using VITA Easyshade Advance against a foundation block and compared with A1 shade tab. Data was collected for statistical analysis. Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), and pair-wise comparison tests were used. Significance level was set to PResults: Two-way ANOVA test showed that the change in both thickness and translucency a well as the interaction between them had a significant effect over (∆E) values. One-way ANOVA and Bonferroni’s tests showed that the low translucency samples showed a statistically significant difference in (∆E) values between all thickness groups except between the 0.3 mm and 0.7 mm as well as between the 0.5 mm and 0.9 mm thickness specimens. High translucency specimens showed a significant difference between all thicknesses. Conclusions: The final colour of laminate veneers could be highly affected by both the thickness and translucency of the ceramic material used. LT specimens produced much better color reproduction with better masking ability than the HT specimens.","PeriodicalId":100562,"journal":{"name":"Future Dental Journal","volume":"194 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79784506","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Canine retraction over stiffer arch wires limits the degree of canine tipping. However, the greater the wire dimensions, the greater the resistance to sliding. Frictional resistance is known to delay tooth movement. Aim: The aim of this controlled clinical trial was to compare canine retraction rate and angulation with 0.017”X0.025” versus 0.016”X0.022” stainless steel arch wire with a power arm. Materials and Methods: Twenty-four Class II malocclusion patients (age 13.8± 2.6 years) participated in this study. The teeth were leveled and aligned. Bilateral maxillary first premolars were extracted. In group A, the canines were retracted over 0.017”X0.025” wires. In group B, they were retracted using 0.016”X0.022” wires with a vertical power arm. The retraction force was 150g generated by elastomeric chains. The canine retraction rate and angulation were measured at the end of six months. The rates in the two groups were compared with the t-test and the angulation with the Mann Whitney test. Results: canine retraction rate was 4.64±1.5 in group A and 5.24±1.45 in group B. The canine angulation was 6.41±5.14 and 6.73±6.0 for group A and B, respectively. Material and methods: Thirty females with bimaxillary protrusion were randomly allocated into two groups, friction and frictionless. In friction group, a hook was crimped on 0.017- by 0.025-inch stainless steel wire distal to the lateral incisor and elastomeric chain rendering 160 g/side extending between the hook and mini-screw implant to complete the ASR. In the frictionless group, canines were ligated to the mini-screws for indirect anchorage then ASR was done using closing T-loops fabricated from 0.017- by 0.025-inch titanium molybdenum alloy (TMA) wire rendering comparable retraction force. Analysis of first molar anchorage loss in terms of bodily and angular movement were assessed using cone beam computed tomographic (CBCT) images. Results: The use of mini-screws prevented significant anchorage loss in both groups and ASR was accomplished successfully. Anchorage loss in the form of angular tipping was of no statistical significance between friction and frictionless group. Conclusion: No advantage of either mechanics over the other regarding anchorage loading on the first permanent molars. Mini-screws are efficient devices to control the anchorage. Both direct and indirect mini-screw anchorage prevented first permanent molar mesial tipping and can be use alternatively.","PeriodicalId":100562,"journal":{"name":"Future Dental Journal","volume":"15 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91251542","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, there is insufficient evidence of whether this exporting procedure has an impact on the accuracy of digital designs. Aim: This study aimed to investigate the accuracy of 3 Intra oral scanners and the accuracy of 3 computer-aided design (CAD) softwares for a three-unit fixed dental prosthesis. Materials and Methods:Three CAD softwares (inLab 17™, CeraMill Mind™, Dental System 2017™) were used to generate designs of a three-unit fixed partial denture. The designs generated by each CAD software were exported as stl files to the other two CAD softwares. The exported designs were superimposed on the proprietary designs to evaluate the trueness of the exported designs. Results: The 3D analysis of the exported designs, revealed best trueness with Cerec inLab, followed by Dental System and then Ceramill Mind. The 2D analysis of the exported designs, revealed best trueness values with Dental System, Cerec inLab, then Ceramill Mind. There was however no statistically significant differences between the trueness of exported designs of the three CAD softwares.
