METHOD Fifty male SD rats were divided randomly into five groups: the control group (SH group), the ischemia reperfusion group (I/R group), the resveratol pretreatment group (Res group), the resveratol pretreatment + wortmannin group (Res +Wom group) and the ischemia reperfusion + wortmannin group (I/R + Wom group). The myocardial ischemia model was established by ligating left coronary artery for 45 min followed by 120 min reperfution, in order to observe the contents of NOS and NO. Cardiac myocyte apoptosis was determined by terminal deoxynueleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL). Bcl-2 and Bax proteins were detected by immunohistochemistry. The t-Akt and p-Akt signaling protein expressions were determined by Western blotting analysis. RESULT Compared with the I/R groups and the Res + Wom group, the Res group showed significant increase in the expressions of NOS, NO, Bcl-2 protein and p-Akt and notable decrease in cardiocyte apoptosis and Bax/Bcl-2. The difference of above indicators showed a statistical significance (P<0.05). Furthermore, above changes can be blocked by wortmannin, a specific blocker of PI3K-Akt signaling pathway, indicating a statistical significance in their changes (P<0.05). CONCLUSION Resveratol can inhibit the ischemia reperfusion-induced cardiocyte apoptosis, in which PI3K-Akt signaling pathway gets involved.","PeriodicalId":9835,"journal":{"name":"China Journal of Chinese Matera Medica","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79171096","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

METHOD Sixty children patients with non-alcoholic liver disease were randomly assigned to 2 groups of 30 patients each , being treated with Jianpi Huatan Fang and the Vitamin E Recipe with a span of 3 months, respectively. The changes of the FINS, FPG, AST, ALT, TG, CHO, HDL, LDL, HOMA-IR, IAI after and before the treatments in both groups as well as the ultrasound imaging changes of liver were observed. RESULT The Chinese medicine group saw higher total effective rate (83.3%) than the Vitamin E group (46.7%) with statistic difference. In addition, after the treatments, both groups saw the significant decrease of the levels of serum lipid metabolic indexes and insulin resistance indexes. Both treatments could effectively enhance the function of liver, but Chinese medicine showed better efficacy. The Chinese medicine group also saw the decrease of ATC, TG, LDL and increase of HDL-C (P < 0.05 (see character in text) P <0.01) after the treatment, showing that the Chinese medicine could effectively enhance blood fat; while the Vit E group did not showed improvement in TC, LDL-C, HDL-C. CONCLUSION Jianpi Huatan Fang showed good efficacy in treating non-alcoholic fatty liver in children with no observable toxic side effects, thus clinic use shall be recommended.","PeriodicalId":9835,"journal":{"name":"China Journal of Chinese Matera Medica","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81991955","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

METHOD The 8-month-old senescence-accelerated mice were randomly divided into the model SAMP10 group and the positive Donepezil group (1 mg x kg(-1)) and ICA groups (50, 100, 200 mg x kg(-1)), with 12 mice in each group. Another 12 8-month-old mice SAMR1 were selected as the normal control group. After 30 days of oral administration, Morris water maze, SMG-2 water maze and experimental platform were used to test the effects of ICA on learning and memory abilities of SAMP10 groups. By colorimetric determination of AChE activity in the cortex, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay detection of ACh, ChAT, MCBC of the cerebral cortex, the effect of ICA on the cholinergic system of SAMP10 was observed. RESULT ICA could improve the abilities of space exploration and positioning navigation of SAMP10, shorten the latency in SMG-2 water maze, enhance their jumping ability in response to the passive test, and increase levels of ACh, ChAT, MCBC in the cerebral cortex of SAMP10. But its active effect on AChE in SAMP10 cortex was not obvious. CONCLUSION Different doses of icariin can improve learning and memory abilities of SAMP10 to varying degrees, which may be related to its effect on the cholinergic system.","PeriodicalId":9835,"journal":{"name":"China Journal of Chinese Matera Medica","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80140985","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

METHOD Rats were divided into the Zige freeze-dried powder injection group and the puerarin freeze-dried powder injection control group randomly. The liver and kidney samples were collected at 5, 10, 20, 30, 45, 60 and 120 min after intravenous administration of puerarin (26.7 microg x g(-1)) through caudal vein and detected by HPLC. RESULT The concentration of puerarin in kidney reached the max value of 58.12 microg x g(-1) for the Zige freeze-dried powder injection group and 71.28 microg x g(-1) for the Puerarin freeze-dried powder injection group. The value of AUC(0-2h) was 26.24 microg x h x g(-1) for the Zige freeze-dried powder injection group and 35.24 microg x h x g(-1) for the puerarin freeze-dried powder injection group, MRT(0-2h) was 0. 39 h for the Zige freeze-dried powder injection group and 0. 42 h for the puerarin freeze-dried powder injection control group. Compared with the control group, the Zige freeze-dried powder injection group showed a significant decrease in Cmax and AUC(0-2h) (P < 0.05), with no notable difference in peak time tmax and MRT(0-2h). The two groups showed no obvious difference in tmax Cmax, AUC(0-2h) and MRT(0-2h) of puerarin in rat kidney. CONCLUSION Compared with Zige freeze-dried powder injection, Zige freeze-dried powder injection can reduce the distribution of puerarin in rat kidney, with no obvious change in the elimination of puerarin in rat kidney. It also showed no significant change in distribution and elimination in liver. This indicates that Zige freeze-dried powder injection is safer to kidney than puerarin freeze-dried powder injection.","PeriodicalId":9835,"journal":{"name":"China Journal of Chinese Matera Medica","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88383044","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
