Various studies have shown that graphene-based photocatalysts are one of the impressive options owing to their intriguing features, including high surface area, good conductivity, low recombination rate of electron-hole pair, and fast charge separation and transfer. However, the environmental impacts of the photocatalysts synthesis and their photodegradation activity remain unclear. Thus, this report aims to identify the environmental impacts associated with the photodegradation of methylene blue (MB) over reduced graphene oxide/titanium oxide photocatalyst (TiO2/rGO) using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). The life cycle impacts were assessed using ReCiPe 2016 v1.1 midpoint method, Hierachist version in Gabi software. A cradle-to-gate approach and a functional unit of 1 kg TiO2/rGOwere adopted in the study. Several important parameters, such as the solvent type (ultrapure water, ethanol, and isopropanol), with/without silver ion doping, and visible light power consumption (150, 300, and 500 W) were evaluated in this study. In terms of the selection of solvent, ultrapure water is certainly a better choice since it contributed the least negative impact on the environment. Furthermore, it is not advisable to dope the photocatalyst with silver ions since the increment in performance is insufficient to offset the environmental impact that it caused. The results of different power of visible light for MB degradation showed that the minimum power level, 150 W, could give a comparable photodegradation efficiency and better environmental impacts compared to higher power light sources. This study enriched the insights of different method of catalyst addition into biomass in the catalytic pyrolysis. The addition of rice husk ash as a catalyst into rice husk pellets allows for better solid-solid contact between the biomass and the catalyst, since the common methods were only solid mixing. This research aimed to investigate the thermal characteristics and kinetics of the biomass components (hemicellulose, cellulose, lignin) in the in-situ catalytic pyrolysis of rice husk pellets with the addition of husk ash. The three-independent parallel reaction kinetics model was used to calculate the kinetics parameters based on thermogravimetric analysis conducted at 303-873 K with various heating rates (5, 10, 20 K/min) and ash addition ratios (10:0, 10:1, 10:2). The thermogram shows that the pyrolysis of rice husk pellets was divided into two stages. Stage 1, ranging from 510-650 K, represented the decomposition of hemicellulose and cellulose, occurring faster with high mass loss, while Stage 2, starting at around 650 K, represented lignin decomposition, occurring more slowly with low mass loss. The catalytic activity of the ash was only apparent at high temperatures, where cellulose and lignin decomposition were more dominant. Activation energy, as a representation of catalytic activity for each component, was not always lower in catalytic pyrolysis. However, the average activation energy decreased with increasing heating rates and ash addition ratios. The addition of the catalyst slowed the decomposition of hemicellulose but accelerated the decomposition of cellulose and lignin. Copyright © 2023 by Authors, Published by BCREC Group. Besides the catalytic recovery is a challenging issue because of its dispersion in solution. Previous work has shown that the interaction of gold nanoparticles with ZnO can reduce the band gap energy (Eg) and plasmon resonance (SPR) as well as the formation of the Schottky barrier in Au/ZnO composite can reduce the recombination of electrons and holes. In this study, Au/ZnO/Fe3O4 (AZF) composites were prepared by a simple mixing method using polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) as a binder. As-prepared composites were characterized by Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), UV-Vis Diffuse Reflectance (UV-Vis-DR), and Fourier Transform Infra Red (FT-IR). The catalytic efficiency of as-prepared samples was evaluated through the decomposition of tartrazine (TA), a colorant that is difficult to decompose in wastewater and has harmful effects on human health. The effects of reaction parameters such as the content of PVA, solution pH, and oxidizing agents (O2 and H2O2) on the catalytic efficiency were studied. The AZF at PVA of 0.0125 g showed the highest performance among as-prepared samples. With the presence of 12 mM H2O2 in the catalyst system, the degradation efficiency and reaction rate of TA in composite increased to 81.5% and 0.020 min−1, respectively. At this condition, photocatalysis and Fenton system catalysis occurred together. The catalytic mechanism of Tartrazine (TA) on composite was proposed and the reaction of TA was studied by the first-order kinetic model. Copyright © 2023 by Authors, Published by BCREC Group. In this research, modifying ZSM5 zeolite (80 Si/Al ratio) by impregnation with 2% Zn (Zn/ZSM5) was carried out to increase the selectivity for isomerization and aromatization thereby enhance the octane number. The process was conducted by using stable gas condensate 85 vol% with 15 vol% ethanol in a fixed bed reactor. Zn/ZSM5 and ZSM5 were examined in a pilot scale under different conditions temperature 360-420 °C LHSV1.2-2 h−1, pressure 5 bar. Catalysts were characterized before and after Zn loading using Fourier Transform Infra Red (FT-IR), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM), Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM), and N2-adsorption. The SEM, FESEM, and TEM have shown that no change in morphology and metal distribution. The XRD and FTIR characterizations revealed the modified catalysts retained their crystallinity after metal impregnation while N2-adsorption isotherm demonstrates no significant change in porosity. The results of Zn/ZSM5 display an optimum result at 420 °C, 1.2 h−1, 5 bar with enhancement of RON from 60.5 to 89 whereas ZSM5 shows RON enhancement from 60.5 to 82. Post Zn loading, PONA test has shown an increase for iso-paraffin from 45.4 to 47.4%, and aromatics from 10.8 to 14. The findings translate the effectiveness of using Zn on ZSM5 for gas condensate – gasoline transformation. Copyright © 2023 by Authors, Published by BCREC Group. Structure characterization used Fourier Transform Infra Red (FT-IR), Scanning Electron Microscope - Energy Dispersive X-ray (SEM-EDX), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), and Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) analysis. A strong peak at 22° and 35.66° in XRD analysis was detected as Sodium-pillar that increased crystallinity, then the functional changes of dehydration in lattice structure were detected in 1013 cm−1 by FTIR analysis. The morphology and compositional transformation were analyzed by SEM-EDX and BET analysis, denoted by increasing particle shape and sodium intercalant composition homogeneity. Moreover, the surface area increased from 61.791 to 66.086 m2/g. The sodium lauryl sulphate adsorption by bentonite-Na reached maximum capacity at 8.403 mg/g, which is higher than the pristine bentonite (5.747 mg/g) under the optimum condition. The adsorption mechanism is feasible, endothermic, and conformed to the pseudo-second-order and Freundlich adsorption model. The new route proposed for sodium intercalation effectively improves the Sumatera bentonite adsorption ability to remove sodium lauryl sulphate waste. The catalyst of nickel-dispersed biochar (Ni/BC) was prepared by direct pyrolysis of nickel precursor with palm leaves waste under N2 stream at 500 °C. The obtained catalyst was examined by using x-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope-energy dispersive x-ray, transmission electron microscopy, gas sorption analysis, FTIR and surface acidity examination. The catalytic activity testing was performed on rice bran oil hydrodeoxygenation at varied temperature and time of reaction. Based on analyses, the results showed the successful preparation of Ni/BC with the characteristic of single nickel nanoparticles decorated on surface. The increasing specific surface area of material was conclusively remarked the surface area enhancement by nickel dispersion along with the increased surface acidity, suggesting that the material can be applied for acid catalysis applications. The Ni/BC exhibited excellent catalytic conversion of rice bran oil with the high selectivity toward diesel fraction with 85.3% yield and 92.6% selectivity. So, extracted Citrus aurantium juice was used to synthesize green CuO/TiO2 and(G- CuO/TiO2) nanocatalyst which was characterized by XRD, SEM, EDX, FTIR, BET, and ZP and utilized in the degradation of methylene blue (MB) under UV lamps and dark environments. The ANOVA program was used to maximize the photodegradation efficiency (%) of (G-CuO/TiO2) on the MB dye. The four independent variables: Initial dye concentration (10-50 mg/L), pH (3-9), adsorbent dose (200-1000 mg/L), and contact time (30-90 min) served to the model of the photodegradation efficiency (%). The ANOVA results confirmed the high significance of the regression model while the predicted values of the photodegradation efficiency (%) of MB were in good agreement with the corresponding experimental ones. Optimized conditions for the maximum photodegradation efficiency (98.6%) by (G- CuO/TiO2) NPs were the initial dye concentration (10.93 mg/L), pH (8.87), adsorbent mass (986.43 mg/L), and contact time (89.08 min). The validity of the quadratic model was examined, and found in good agreement with the experimental values. Results demonstrated that (G-CuO/TiO2) could be a promising photocatalyst in the degradation of MB dye. Copyright © 2023 by Authors, Published by BCREC Group. The nancomposite was synthesized using the successive ionic layer adsorption reaction (SILAR) method, with Cd(CH3COO)2 and Na2S as precursors. The CdS/TNTAs nanocomposite is expected to reduce the energy band gap to enable the visible and UV spectrum to activate the photocatalyst. Additionally, the formed heterojunction mechanism provides opportunities for the trajectories of electrons and holes to be farther apart and reduce the recombination rate. The degradation ability of CdS/TNTAs nanocomposite in the photocatalytic process was evaluated using samples of ciprofloxacin liquid waste as an antibiotic, which is quite challenging to decompose completely. The ability of the photocatalytic process to produce hydrogen gas was also observed and its performance synergized with the electrocoagulation process. The result showed that the use of CdS as a TNTAs partner in CdS/TNTAs nanocomposites affects increasing photocatalyst performance, both in degrading ciprofloxacin and producing hydrogen gas. Furthermore, the CdS/TNTAs nanocomposite increased the photocatalytic process’s ability to degrade ciprofloxacin and produce hydrogen from 8.5 to 20.5% and 6 to 23.5 mmol/m2 compared to using TNTAs alone. The processing capability is further enhanced when run in synergy with the electrocoagulation process where the removal of ciprofloxacin reaches 86.55%  and the hydrogen produced is 2.62×106 mmol/m2.
