Obosi","doi":"10.4236/ojps.2023.134026","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.4236/ojps.2023.134026","url":null,"abstract":"The paper has interrogated various policies that different countries have put in place to mitigate sustainable water services thereby ensuring the achievement of universal and equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water for all by 2030 in line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 6.1) targets. By using a comparative analysis of institutional arrangements under the theoretical framework of New Public Management, we assessed the main approaches that have directly or indirectly been implemented by government in transition democracies and the results realized. The advent of the Boko Haram crises in the early part of 2000, saw not just a change in the dynamics, but also an exponential growth in the spate and occurrences of these conflicts. The most notable of these is extremism; violent extremism, which is fast taking over as the most formidable threat. The frequency of these occurrences is indicative of the overwhelming nature of the problem for states to address. Of particular concern is the risk of these activities of extremism to the Federal Capital Territory by virtue of its location and population dynamics. Policymakers, business leaders, and asset managers have shown a growing interest in megatrends analysis and future research, which is leading to increased visibility for some think tanks across countries and world regions. We argue that a growing number of think tanks are involved in driving megatrends discourses. Think tanks also make contributions to future research and strategic foresight. Given the lack of research and statistics on the involvement of think tanks in megatrends and future research, this paper draws on exchanges and interviews with diverse think tanks and the consultation of reports of think tanks and a few online publications of scholars and analysts. Eight short case studies demonstrate different levels of engagement of think tanks with megatrends and future research. Ungaya","doi":"10.4236/ojps.2023.133016","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.4236/ojps.2023.133016","url":null,"abstract":"The objective of this study was to examine the influence of political-adminis-trative interface on leadership performance in the Ministry of Petroleum of the Republic of South Sudan. The study was guided by Leader Member Exchange Theory. The study adopted quantitative descriptive research design targeting 1973 employees working in the Ministry of Petroleum. The re-searcher adopted Yamane sampling formula to arrive at 333 employees as the sample size. The main data source was primary data collected using questionnaires and interviews. Descriptive statistics techniques were used to analyse quantitative data which include frequencies, percentages and mean. Regression analysis technique was used to analyse the inferential statistics and to test the set hypotheses. The findings were presented in the form of tables and figures. The study established significant influence of inter-organizational relations on leadership performance in the Ministry of Petroleum and assessed intervention strategies that could be adopted to improve public leadership effectiveness in the Ministry of Petroleum. The study further concluded that the poor leadership performance in the Ministry of Petroleum of the Republic of South Sudan was due to inter-organizational relations caused by ineffective organizational structures. The study recommends that the Ministry of Petroleum should enhance the institutional structures for improved leadership performance there should be checks and balances in the operation of the ministry to achieve the desired accountability.
