However, some children, especially those in elementary school, are still afraid to use a ball. This is a problem that needs to be addressed, because the ball is the most popular game for children today. Physical education teachers need to find ways to help children not be afraid to play ball.","PeriodicalId":91193,"journal":{"name":"African journal for physical health education, recreation, and dance","volume":"399 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84845252","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This disease is chronic, degenerative, non-inflammatory, and slowly progressive, one of which is characterized by decreased function. Osteoarthritis is a form of osteoarthritis that affects people in old age or adulthood. The cause of osteoarthritis is not known with certainty, but age, gender, race, genetics, obesity, and physical activity are risk factors that lead to pathological changes and affect the decreased functional ability. This decrease in functional ability in osteoarthritis can be overcome by isometric exercise.Methods: The research design used was a pre-experimental design with an approach of pretest-posttest one group design. The sampling technique used was total sampling, with a total of 20 respondents aged 40–70 years. Exercise with a frequency of 2 times a week for 8 weeks at an intensity of 3 repetitions for 15 minutes. The measuring instrument in this study used WOMAC (Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index). Normality test using the Shapiro-Wilk test, hypothesis testing using the Wilcoxon Test.The results showed the level of functional ability before being given the intervention had an average value of 2.30 and after being given the intervention had an average value of 1.40. Statistical test results showed p-value = 0.000 (p 0.005). This shows that there is an effect of isometric exercise on changes in functional abilities of patients with Samarinda knee osteoarthritis at AW Sjahranie Hospital.Conclusion: Giving isometric exercise to the quadriceps and hamstrings has an effect on improving the functional ability of the knee in patients with osteoarthritis.","PeriodicalId":91193,"journal":{"name":"African journal for physical health education, recreation, and dance","volume":"34 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87970971","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on Law No. 14 of 2002, teachers in Indonesia are required to master four competencies, namely: pedagogy, professional, personality and social. Currently, there are only few numbers of standardized instruments to test these four competencies. Thus, this study aims at developing and standardizing a pedagogical and professional competency instrument in a form of a test. This study applied a procedural research and development (RnD) model using the following steps: research and collection preliminary, research planning, early product development, expert validation, product revision, early test, product revision, field test, final product revision and mass product manufacture. The test subjects in this study were physical education teachers at the elementary school level. Based on data from Education Authorites in Padang, the total population in this study was 480 people and the sample was taken purposively. During the early test, it was carried out to 20 samples and during the field test, it was carried out on 20% of the total population, namely 84 people. Standardization of the instrument was carried out by conducting several analysis, namely: validity, reliability, item difficulty level, item discriminating power, practicality test, and effectiveness. Data were processed using IBM SPSS statistical program with p < 0.05. Based on the results of processing and processing, a standardized instrument that can measure pedagogical and professional competence for Physical Education teachers was successfully made.","PeriodicalId":91193,"journal":{"name":"African journal for physical health education, recreation, and dance","volume":"13 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87718387","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Abdominal muscle endurance plays a crucial role to support daily physical activity. Abdominal muscle endurance can be enhanced through physical exercises such as surya namaskar yoga and core stability exercise. This study aims to examine the difference in the effect of surya namaskar yoga and core stability exercise in improving abdominal muscle endurance among students of the yoga and health department at UHN I Gusti Bagus Sugriwa Denpasar. This study is an experimental study using a randomized pre- and post-test control group design. The subjects of this study were 12 students, which were divided into 2 groups. Group 1 received surya namaskar yoga and Group 2 received core stability exercise. Abdominal muscle endurance was measured using the flexor endurance muscle test. Based on the results of the independent t-test, there was a difference in the average abdominal muscle endurance after treatment between groups, with p-value = 0.008 (p <0.05), where the Mean of increase in abdominal muscle endurance in Group 1 was 20.16 ± 0.75, while in Group 2, it was 32.00 ± 2.09.
