The mapping of the units of measurement was done as: palm, tarefa, yard, fathom, celamim, present in the social practices of production of the peasant population and its linkage with the school curriculum. The practices were studied, with the support of the ethnomathematical and curriculum theorizing. To understand them, we used the methodological procedures: interview, direct observation and field diary. The research showed: the existence of a set of measurement units different from those used in the standard metric system; that the reference in the definition of units of measurement is the human body; that such knowledge only entered the curriculum indirectly and eventually.","PeriodicalId":91049,"journal":{"name":"American international journal of contemporary research","volume":"69 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86688674","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this context, mobile technologies, specially, notebooks and smart phones are used not just as a communication artifact, but as a space to mediate the face-to-face and virtual realities. The paper addresses the polemical question how Pakistani women in particular and Neo-colonial Muslim women in general, exercise agency when placed in the harem (literal and metaphorical). The analysis of the text brings out that in contrast to the Orientalist representation of harem by the colonizer, Neo-colonial women writers in general and Durrani in particular provide an authentic representation of harem, its purpose and how it is misused and misrepresented. While doing so, Durrani contributes to the project of postcolonial women writers who write back to the empire, rewrite the Orientalized spaces and challenge the essentialist depiction of Muslim women as oppressed, eroticized and exotic.","PeriodicalId":91049,"journal":{"name":"American international journal of contemporary research","volume":"4 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76144548","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The overall annual cost of foster care placement in the U.S. exceeds 9 billion dollars, a value shared by both the state and federal entities. The lack of effective placement and services often lead to low academic attainment and higher probability for the child to become adjudicated delinquent. The costs for negative foster care child outcomes include, emotional, physical, and psychological impairment, coupled with the separation of biological families, in many cases surpasses the monetary costs of foster care placement. Placement in foster care affects children's emotional development, which can lead to adverse outcomes on behavior and mental health due to inconsistent nurturing and lack of parental contact. Although placement in kinship care is the first option when parents are unavailable or cannot raise the child, non-kinship care is the most popular form of placement. Little is known to date as to whether the type of placement affects outcome measures of foster children such as delinquent behaviors and academic attainment. The current research study will compare the kinship and nonkinship foster care regarding placement stability and second, test the impact of removal reasons from their home as it pertains to delinquent behavior and educational attainment of children placed in foster care. So, methodologically, it is based on both a review of the literature about that subject and an investigation of the primary sources of the Portuguese and Uruguayan drug policy. Among the results found out, it can be highlighting the following sample: 1) the prohibitionist policy on drugs is one of the cases that most reveals ambivalence when it is considered the production of social rules; 2) the so-called drug problem is not and never has been a police problem, except in the sense that the police are themselves the problem it is, rather, a problem of lack of knowledge and wrong policy approach; 3) the prohibitionist drug policies have failed; 4) Portugal is an example of a well-implemented drug decriminalization policy; 5) the philosophy of Uruguayan drug policy assumes that human rights obligations take precedence over drug control efforts. Conclusively, it is advocated, for example, the implementation of policies that regulate illicit drugs, from production through to distribution.","PeriodicalId":91049,"journal":{"name":"American international journal of contemporary research","volume":"45 1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85837596","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nonetheless, despite the importance of these activities, there are few published investigations in the marketing literature that have analyzed and discussed them together. There are even less the researches focused on small firms. Thus, the main objective of this empirical research is the analysis and discussion of the effects of brand management in the brand equity of small firms by using a sample of 300 small enterprises and by implementing a model of structural equations that allows a deeper understanding of the current relation between brand management and brand equity. The results obtained show that brand management has a positive and significant effect in the level of brand equity of small firms.","PeriodicalId":91049,"journal":{"name":"American international journal of contemporary research","volume":"38 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90747282","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Findings of the study indicate strategies that the multinational companies (MNCs) and the government may use to prevent disharmony and distrust between themselves and host communities. It also showedthe importance of corporate social responsibility (CSR)in not only improving the brand name but also giving back to the environment where they operate. The child with DS, despite having many of its limited physical and psychological characteristics, has a proven ability to learn. The futsal learning process for children with down syndrome should establish a practice that contextualizes the reality of the student, it is up to the teacher to offer means and strategies to provide the motor, cognitive and affective development of the student with this syndrome, propitiating the construction of knowledge and more complex skills, this will depend on the experiences and experiences provided to the students in the class. In this assumption it is understood that Physical School Education plays a fundamental role of social inclusion, when articulated its pedagogical practice. To reach the established objective, a qualitative research was done, of the bibliographic type.
