The Sentinel-2A satellite image (2022) and the Digital Elevation Model (DEM) were used to identify the common landforms which are surface of El Diffa plateau, foot slope of plateau, residual hills, local depression, gravelly sand plain, sand sheets and sand dunes. Fifteen soil profiles were morphologically described and sampled and the statistical size parameters and mineralogical constituents of sand fraction were determined. The results obtained indicated that the soil are moderately sorted to poorly sorted, strongly coarse to fine skewed and very platy to very lepto kourtic; indicating the predominance of transportation and deposition of the soil materials within aqueous media. Regarding the mineralogical composition of sand fraction, quertz represents ≥ 90.5% of the light minerals, followed by feldspars (plagioclase, orthoclase and microcline). In addition, muscovite and calcite minerals were detected in minute number. Concerning the heavy minerals, opaques are the major fraction constituent. In connection with the complementary non-opaque minerals, the first abundance are unstable minerals of igneous origin followed by the ultra-stable index minerals (sedimentary origin minerals). Metastable origin minerals are found in palpable portions. The depth-wise distribution of the index minerals as well as the uniformity and weathering ratios change irregularly indicating that the soils are formed of multi-origin parent materials that are still poorly developed.","PeriodicalId":90815,"journal":{"name":"Current science international","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69662551","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Silica is found in most mineral deposits in the world in both crystalline and non-crystalline (amorphous) forms. Silicon concentrations vary greatly in plant aboveground parts, ranging from 0.1 to 10.0% of dry weight. Silicates soil amendments provide effective and efficient means to correct a number of soil chemical imbalances, nutrient deficiencies and toxicity issues. Soil treatment with biogeochemically active Si substances optimizes soil fertility through improved water, physical and chemical soil properties and maintenance of nutrients in plant-available forms. The amount of Si in soil may vary considerably from 1 % to 45 %. Most Si is present in the soil as insoluble oxides or silicates, but plants can easily absorb silicic acid Si (OH) 4 from soil. Silicic acid is generally found in the range of 0.1-0.6 mM in soils. Unfortunately, soluble Si polymerizes insect pests such as leaf spider and mites. It prevents physical penetration and/ or makes the plant cells less susceptible to enzymatic degradation by fungal pathogens. rice, fusarium wilt, and corynespora leaf spot on cucumber. Silicon suppresses insect pests such as stem borer, brown plant hopper, rice green leaf hopper, and white backed plant hopper, and no insect pests such as leaf spider and mites. It prevents physical penetration and / or makes the plant cells less susceptible to enzymatic degradation by fungal pathogens.","PeriodicalId":90815,"journal":{"name":"Current science international","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69660723","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this purpose, the experiments were conducted in the greenhouse of the National Research Centre, Giza, Egypt in the two winter successive seasons, 2017/2018 and 2018/2019. The seed powder of sweet and bitter lupine was incorporated to the soil surface at rates of 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25g/kg soil. The results indicated reduction in canarygrass growth by both sweet and bitter lupine. Weed growth inhibition increased by increasing the concentration of the two seed powder. The highest rate of bitter or sweet lupine seed powder at 25g/kg soil gave the highest growth inhibition which controlled more than 80 and 60% of canarygrass. Weed growth suppression of canarygrass was associated with increasing in faba bean growth. The results also revealed increasing in number of pods/plant, weight of pods / plant, weight of seeds / plant and weight of 100 seeds that represented yield and yield components of faba bean. The results suggested that sweet and bitter lupine could be alternated chemical herbicides in controlling canarygrass.","PeriodicalId":90815,"journal":{"name":"Current science international","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69660849","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
