{"title":"An Anomalous Case of Nasal Septal Cyst with Cholesterol Granulomas: A Case Report","authors":"K. Al-Sebeih, M. In this report, we are presenting an extremely rare case of the cyst with cholesterol granulomas located in the nasal septum and eroding the cartilage. In this case a 45 years old male patient was presented for rhinoplasty procedure with a severe issue of bilateral nasal blockage and facial pain since a long time ago. He previously had a history of nasal surgery (Septoplasty) and rigid nasal endoscopy showed septal swelling in both the nasal cavity. Similarly, computed tomography (CT scan) with Multi Planer Reconstruction (MPR) showed a well-circumscribed lesion involving the anterior nasal septum and extended to both nasal cavities. The cyst was completely removed through surgery and the external approach septorhinoplasty was adopted. One-year post-operative follow-up showed no recurrence. In our structure we have tried to highlight the diagnostic and therapeutic aspects. We collected fourteen cases of otosclerosis. The clinical examination and the computed tomography allowed us to choose the operable cases in 85.8% with favorable consequences. {"title":"The Association of Nasal Septal Deviation with Solitary Sphenoidal Fungus Ball: Retrospective Analysis of 43 Patients","authors":"Lifeng Li, Demin Han, Shu-ling Li, N. London","doi":"10.3752/JOR.9(3).384","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.3752/JOR.9(3).384","url":null,"abstract":"Objective: A Solitary Sphenoid Fungus Ball (SSFB) is an uncommon unilateral collection of non-invasive fungal hyphae in the sphenoid sinus. The association and potential impact of nasal septal deviation (NSD) on the pathogenesis of SSFB has not been fully assessed. The purposes of this study were to investigate whether NSD is associated with SSFB, and to assess the alterations to adjacent structures caused by SSFB. Methods: Forty-three patients with SSFB were enrolled as the study group. Another 43 age and sex matched patients that underwent trans-sphenoidal resection of a pituitary tumor were enrolled as the control group. The incidence of NSD, and alterations to adjacent bony structures were compared between these two groups. Analysis of the relationship between the direction and severity of NSD with the ipsilateral occurrence of fungus ball in the sphenoid sinus was also performed. Results: The incidence of NSD in patients with SSFB (86.05%) was statistically higher than that in control group (39.53%) (p<0.001). Neither the direction of NSD (p=0.861) nor the severity of NSD (p=0.442) would impact the ipsilateral occurrence of the SSFB. An expanded sphenoid ostia, punctate calcifications, and bony wall sclerosis were the main characteristics on CT imaging. Central signal deficiency was a typical characteristic on T2WI MRI. Conclusion: NSD was common in patients with SSFB. Dental carries and infection, diabetes mellitus, poor oral hygiene and immune suppression are the main ingenious factor for it. Poor slum dwellers and villagers whose are unlettered, less learning about oral hygiene and inadequate support for hygienic living are pragmatic confession for Ludwig’s Angina in the perspective view of the developing countries. Methods:It is a cohort retrospective study of 193 cases of Ludwig’s Angina in the department of Otolaryngology and Head-Neck surgery, Comilla Medical College, Bangladesh. Result: Incidence of Ludwig’s Angina out of total inpatient were 0.63% and out of total emergency patient were 4.80%. Of them male were 81.34% and female were 18.66%, 89.65% were above 41 years, 86.52% cleaned their tooth by charcoal, 93.78% had dental carries and 87.56% were diabetic. Anyhow 55.44% were slum dwellers, 40.41% were villagers whereas 77.20 % were smoker and 59.06% were betel leaf and nut chewer. Hospital tarried30.05% were up to 4 weeks, 40.95% were up to 6 weeksand 29% were above 6 weeks. 4(2.07%) were died from 193. Conclusion: Definitely Ludwig ’ s Angina is a devastating disease but not incurable. CT scan showed opacification of mastoid temporal bone and TMJ area. Treatment included antibiotics and TMJ abscess surgical drainage. In this case report, we discuss the clinical picture, investigations, treatment and literature review for this case. We present a patient (9 yrs old girl) with IMT from a lacrimal system, undertaking a gross total resection at the department of Ophthalmology, followed by corticosteroid therapy and radiotherapy. After cessation of radiotherapy, the tumor recurred rapid growth rate with the expansion into the entire globe, left paranasal sinuses, and the ipsilateral masseter space and parotid gland. The second surgery with resection of all abovementioned infiltrated structures was performed at the department of Head and Neck, and the pathological outcome turns out to be IMS. However, negative margin could not be achieved. Next generation gene sequencing analysis of whole exome was performed, and the abnormality of CDKN1B gene rearrangement was identified. All published articles of this journal are included in the indexing and abstracting coverage of Google Scholar, Genamics JournalSeek, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), CiteFactor, Directory of Research Journal Indexing (DRJI), IndianScience.in, Jour Informatics, CiteSeerx, American Standards for Journals and Research (ASJR), InfoBase Index, Secret Search Engine Labs During the calendar year 2020, IPAPP received a total of 30 papers, out of which few articles were rejected in the preliminary screening due to plagiarism or being out of the format and peer review process. During 2020 around 15 articles were subjected for publication after they are accepted in the peer review process. In the 4 issues of Volume 9 published during the year 2020, a total of 15 articles were published (at an average of 4 articles per issue) of which, articles were published from authors all around the world. A total of 32 research scientists from all over the world reviewed the 14 articles published in volume 9. Average publication lag time of an article was further reduced to 2-3 weeks. Journal of Otology & Rhinology also announces its new association with scitechnol group for Archiving, Journal maintenance, financial purpose and support. However the journal will be running its original website www.scitechnol.com parallel for Editorial and review work process so as to maintain its highest standard of scientific work. I take this opportunity to acknowledge the contribution of editors and Associate Editors, during the final editing of articles published and the support rendered by the editorial assistants. Also, the professional practices teaching, research and managerial activities (2 Speech-Language Pathology Regional Council definition – CRFa2). Currently, the Federal Speech-Language Pathology Council (CFF) recognizes 12 specialties: Audiology, Language, Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders, Collective Health, Voice, Dysphagia, Educational Speech-Language Pathology, Gerontology, Neurofunctional Speech Therapy, Occupational Health Speech-Language Pathology, Neuropsychology, and Fluency.
