Dirancang khusus sesuai dengan karakteristik dan perilaku difabel tunarungu yang memiliki keterbatasan dalam menerima informasi verbal (suara), dikarenakan oleh gangguan yang dialami pada indera pendengaraannya sejak lahir ataupun paca kelahiran, sehingga difabel tunarungu lebih cenderung mengandalkan indera pengelihatan untuk dapat menerima informasi. Namun, saat ini kita hidup di dunia yang mengandalkan penyampaian informasi melalui media suara. Sehingga perlu adanya sebuah tempat dimana difabel tunarungu lebih dapat menyesuaikan diri dengan lingkungan serta menggali ilmu pengetahuan sebelum akhirnya mereka siap dalam persaingan global yang sesunguhnya. Berdasarkan isu tersebut, penelitian ini bertujuan mendesain sebuah bangunan pendidikan yang dirancang khusus untuk difabel tunarungu (deaf space), dengan mengangkat tema “see the world, face the future” yang dapat dapat diartikan bahwa pendidikan adalah salah satu hal terpenting dalam kehidupan manusia, pendidikan dapat membuka pengetahuan dan keilmuan seluas-luasnya sehingga dengan pendidikan yang baik manusia akan semakin siap dalam menghadapi persaingan global di masa yang akan datang.","PeriodicalId":90549,"journal":{"name":"International journal of migration and border studies","volume":"5 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80158675","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Proses ini memberikan kesempatan bagi arsitek untuk dapat menemukan solusi baru dalam mengantisipasi berbagai permasalahan yang berkaitan dengan aspek-aspek arsitektur. Salah satu permasalahan yang ada pada kelompok bangunan bertipologi rumah sakit adalah adanya kebutuhan untuk mengakomodasi perubahan. Perubahan yang dimaksud dalam hal ini adalah perubahan akan konfigrasi arsitektur bangunan tersebut. Adanya perubahan menuntut rancangan arsitektur yang fleksibel dan adaptif. Perubahan memberikan kesempatan untuk semakin berkembang dan lebih baik namun juga memberikan peluang bagi permasalahan. Dalam ini permasalahan yang dihadapi adalah adanya kecenderungan perubahan tata ruang baik dikarenakan kapasitas maupun fungsinya. Penelitian terkait bertujuan mengidentifikasi bentuk perubahan sebagai langkah awal tahapan perancangan. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi literatur dan studi kasus pada rumah sakit umum di Surabaya guna menentukan kecenderungan bentuk perubahan yang secara umum terjadi. Berdasarkan hasil yang diperoleh terdapat 5 tipe perubahan yaitu Volume,service lines, Patient mix and standar of care, Size dan Medical Discovery serta tiga jenis perubahan yang dapat terjadi pada arsitektur rumah sakit yaitu improvisasi (Improvisation), perubahan bangunan (Building changes), Perluasan Bangunan (Building Extention). Adapun kecenderungan tipe dan bentuk perubahan pada kedua rumah sakit tersebut adalah Volume dan improvisation.","PeriodicalId":90549,"journal":{"name":"International journal of migration and border studies","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77771601","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Salah satu desa wisata yang memliki potensi tersebut berada di Ds. Sendangagung Dsn. Brajan, Kec. Minggir. Untuk menghasilkan pariwasata yang menarik bagi wisatawan diperlukan pengembangan fasilitas pariwisata yakni: 1) Penginapan yang sampai saat ini masih menggunakan rumah penduduk setempat; 2) Bamboo Class untuk mengakomodasi adanya paket wisata belajar kerajinan bambu; 3) Area pertunjukan sebagai tempat diadakannya pertunjukan seni tari dan gamelan; 4) Bamboo Art Gallery dan 5)Bamboo Shop sebagai wadah hasil kerajinan oleh pengerajin maupun pengunjung desa wisata. Lokasi site merupakan lahan kosong dengan luas kurang lebih 20.000m². Dari beberapa fakta , issue dan goal yang telah dianalisis muncul sebuah benang merah yang kemudian dijadikan tema perancangan yakni “When Nature Meet Art“ yang dapat diartikan “Ketika Alam bertemu dengan Seni”. Maksudnya adalah untuk mengekspresikan identitas keindahan alam Desa Wisata Bambu Brajan serta kerajinan kesenian bambu yang di produksinya. Adapun pendekatan rancanganya menggunakan Localism untuk mengejawantahkan bangunan terhadap lingkungan dalam ranah tradisi, budaya & sosial. Sehingga rancangan yang dihasilkan mampu mewujudkan suatua area wisata yang mampu mensinergikan antara bangunan dengan alam, budaya, dan kearifan lokal secara komprehensip.","PeriodicalId":90549,"journal":{"name":"International journal of migration and border studies","volume":"35 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90994590","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using a theoretical framework grounded in the capabilities approach, this article examines urban/protracted situations of displacement in developing countries and highlights gaps in the limited knowledge and assistance to older displaced persons that must be bridged in order to break the vicious cycle between research and policy that continue to marginalise older persons from humanitarian responses. At the heart of the issue around older peoples' exclusion and invisibility is their lack of voice in decision-making processes and their capacity to contribute to improving the programmes and policies that directly impact them. The paper thus also argues for the meaningful inclusion of older displaced persons in decision-making processes around programmes that concern them.","PeriodicalId":90549,"journal":{"name":"International journal of migration and border studies","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48707720","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We document and investigate emerging transnational spaces and practices of social exclusion and symbolic violence (Bourdieu) that boost domestic economic interests, externalise social responsibility, privatise social risk, and reinforce national boundaries. We argue that policies and practices in this transnational social field are directed by market logic and that, accordingly, trade agreements and migration management regimes organise place and space to make the most of global inequalities through the simultaneous facilitation and restriction of mobility. Crucially, the coordinated ambivalent control of borders in this transnational marketised social field produces an entrepreneurial context that makes possible a range of profits through the selective symbolic dispossession of nation-states, nationalities, and migrant bodies: economic, political, and social.","PeriodicalId":90549,"journal":{"name":"International journal of migration and border studies","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47543799","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Activists in the US Sanctuary Movement, seeking to provide safe passage to the USA for Central American refugees, summon the legacy of the Underground Railroad as a normative frame for understanding their mission. In the original Underground Railroad, a loose network of 'conductors' ushered escaped slaves north to freedom. In contrast to immigrant rights activists and slavery abolitionists, for-profit smugglers have been vilified as violent predators. Nevertheless, surprising similarities in social practices and relationships that underpin such dramatically different cases of migration brokerage point to the contingencies, complexities and ambiguous roles of smugglers. A counterintuitive comparison between the contemporary smuggling route and the historical freedom trail shows how normative imaginaries reshape social boundaries and territorial borders in North America.","PeriodicalId":90549,"journal":{"name":"International journal of migration and border studies","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48532575","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The paper offers a brief insight into the ideologies around farm work that informed the colonisation and dispossession of Indigenous peoples and the expropriation of non-citizen labour. It begins with a historical overview of how agriculture was used as a tool of colonisation even as settlers struggled to cultivate Canadian lands because of the seasonal nature and the persistent lack of labour. From the time of Confederation, agriculture began to be intimately tied with immigration policies culminating in the Seasonal Agricultural Worker Program (SAWP) that persists to this day. The paper then expands the analysis to Israel to show how other settler nations have also followed similar ideological and policy trajectories. The paper illustrates how racial capitalism intertwines with settler colonial practices discursively and institutionally through immigration policies.","PeriodicalId":90549,"journal":{"name":"International journal of migration and border studies","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43255255","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This article identifies several components critical to this transnational policing. One component is the development of security 'partnerships' with transit countries, through which the USA provides funding, equipment, and training for migrant interdiction. Another component is a vast international expansion of Department of Homeland Security networks aimed at detecting and intercepting the illicit mobility of people and things. A third component entails the significant stretching of US military presence throughout Latin America and the Caribbean through a variety of means. This paper argues that as the USA extends its border policing activities through time and space, it conceals its direct role in migration policing activities that violate human rights and fuel illicit activities, distracts from policy failures, and evades international obligations.","PeriodicalId":90549,"journal":{"name":"International journal of migration and border studies","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41474287","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Through disciplining regulations and annual forced exits, the SAWP engenders a particular form of transnationalism that is marked by precarity but also efforts to subversively carve out space at home and abroad. Habitus provides a unifying theory to understand workers' experiences while also locating the SAWP within broader systems of exclusion. This article moves in three parts: first, transnationalism and habitus are examined as tools to explore the experiences of SAWP workers. Then, the SAWP policy context is reviewed. It concludes with an analysis of migrant workers' renegotiations of the boundaries of habitus through subversive acts of citizenship.","PeriodicalId":90549,"journal":{"name":"International journal of migration and border studies","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48438684","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
