We, through this present study, have tried to explain the importance of the spot examination and preservation of the scene of crime in accident cases, which are generally avoided while investigation of accident cases in India. Through this paper, the author tried to explain the circumstances can change the view of the public as well as the investigating agency, by using the forensic expert view and opinion, proper examination of vehicles (in hit-n-run case or direct impact or side by side collision), victim’s injury and scene of crime (spot of occurrence) and by-standers. Researchers have cited it as a reliable means to assess age and gender preferences and to assess a preference for coercive versus consenting sexual activities. It is also the only method which allows a determination of an offender’s ability to inhibit deviant sexual arousal, a factor of principal importance is assessing risk of reoffending. This procedure is weakened, however, by the problem of low arousal, and often results are deemed too low to be interpreted. A factor contributing to low arousal may be the widespread availability of pornographic material on the internet, for this may desensitize participants to weaker stimuli used in some labs. In response to ethical concerns some labs have adopted the use of audio stimuli alone, and this may compromise the procedure. This study compares arousal to consenting adult heterosexual, adult female rape, and heterosexual pedophilia themes in response to audio versus slide versus video stimuli. Results from 142 incarcerated inmates reveal that visual stimuli are most effective and that the use of audio stimuli alone often yields sexual arousal profiles which are too low to be interpretable.","PeriodicalId":90216,"journal":{"name":"Journal of forensics research","volume":"8 1","pages":"1-7"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.4172/2157-7145.1000398","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70355262","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many cases go unreported owing to the social stigma attached. There have been cases where women misused these laws for personal gains [1]. Hence, any sexual assault case should be investigated carefully and impartially so as not to miss a single piece of evidence. We present a similar case study where the crime scene showed signs of violence. The presence of Y-peak on Amelogenin locus in Identifiler STRs in vaginal swabs of victim raised doubt of case being positive but Y-Filer STR helped in distinguishing the male contributor from the alleged accused. This conclusion strongly indicates the power of Y-STRs in forensic DNA analysis –it not only helps in identification of perpetrator but also in exclusion of the innocent.","PeriodicalId":90216,"journal":{"name":"Journal of forensics research","volume":"8 1","pages":"1-4"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.4172/2157-7145.1000391","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70354848","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, lack of knowledge of the action of psychoactive drugs on the population dynamics of these flies may affect the inferences that experts must make in medico-legal reports. This study evaluated the effects of amphetamine and phenobarbital on the population dynamics of Chrysomya albiceps (Wiedemann), by combining laboratory experimentation and mathematical modelling. Only amphetamine and its control, methanol, influenced the qualitative dynamic behaviour of Chrysomya albiceps, stabilising chaotic populations. The results are discussed in an ecological and forensic context.","PeriodicalId":90216,"journal":{"name":"Journal of forensics research","volume":"8 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.4172/2157-7145.1000400","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70355002","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There were examined 17 patients with schizophrenia with criminal history, under compulsory treatment. The comparison group consisted of 17 patients with schizophrenia with prosocial behavior and 18 mentally healthy individuals without criminal history. The following techniques aimed to study the inward picture of disease were used: the types of attitude towards disease, symptom checklist-90-revised, life-line (for studying the autobiographical memory), metaphor of the past, functions of autobiographical memory, the questionnaire of self-attitude and balanced inventory of desirable responding. Specific interrelationships between the types of attitude to the disease and perceived symptoms with the peculiarities of functioning of autobiographical memory were revealed. It was found that patients have less realistic possibilities of consciousness with reduced mediation of autobiographical memory representations of the disease at the higher level of severity of distress due to the perceived symptoms and to the less realistic and adaptive types of attitude to disease. It was discovered that offenders with schizophrenia are characterized by the predominance of negative perceptions of past experience, the fragmentation of attitude to disease with low awareness of their symptoms, which is associated with a lower contribution to the mediation of ideas about the disease of functional constructs of autobiographical memory.","PeriodicalId":90216,"journal":{"name":"Journal of forensics research","volume":"2016 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.4172/2157-7145.1000355","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70354642","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

DVI teams work in an interdisciplinary manner, engaging the services of experts in various disciplines, comprising of pathologists, anthropologists, odontologists, radiologists, fingerprint and DNA experts to work collaboratively towards the identification of victims. The DVI process is accomplished with four phases namely, scene, post-mortem, antemortem and reconciliation, adopting the fundamental principle where the highest possible quality standards should be applied and victims are to be treated with dignity and respect, in accordance to the internationally recognized INTERPOL DVI guide. This DVI guide has extensively adopted and used by many countries in numerous disasters with successful identification for victims. Nevertheless, the problem to positively identify victims lies with the case of insufficient or missing of the antemortem data. This paper focuses on the dynamic and continuous evolution, particularly the application of the DVI process in setting up a procedure for temporary controlled burial for all the unidentified remains in the two cases of Malaysia mass fatality incidents. It highlights the importance of temporary controlled burial for all the unidentified remains as means of forensic humanitarian reason as well as for criminal investigation where the extended version of the DVI protocol to include temporary controlled burial as a measure to treat victims with respect and dignity. The two cases convey the importance of expanding the DVI process to include procedures for future identification and archiving. DVI procedures are dynamic and have evolved as well as developed particularly in its application going beyond merely identification, to recording and documenting for future referencing by the victim's family to researchers.","PeriodicalId":90216,"journal":{"name":"Journal of forensics research","volume":"7 1","pages":"1-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.4172/2157-7145.1000359","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70354583","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
