The articles which combine these two scientific dimensions needs to be done because there are no similar studies which have been previously conducted. In addition, by using Žižek’s theory, it is expected that readers will be able to understand Sufism from a \"rational\" perspective. The results of this study indicate that suluk carried out by Kiai Tawakkal explicitly breaks the symbolic boundaries adopted by Gus Jakfar and the surrounding community. This act becomes a means for Kiai Tawakkal to reach the Real, or the Haq. ","PeriodicalId":89555,"journal":{"name":"Global health governance : the scholarly journal for the new health security paradigm","volume":"5 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82013054","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Conventional indirect strategy is often rated as the most polite expression of politeness. In this case, male and female obviously have different strategies for making the request, which may be influenced by some factors. A qualitative approach was employed to conduct this study since the data are the utterances produced by male and female speakers in spoken BNC. The study revealed that there were 187 utterances that contain Conventional Indirectness Strategies on request used by male and female speakers in spoken BNC. Ability conditions was the strategy of conventional indirect request that mostly used by the male and female speakers. Then, the three factors (i.e. gender, age, and social class) have an effect and significant role on the speaker’s choice of strategies employed by British English speakers. As this study is focused on the indirect request strategies, thus it is suggested to the next researchers who are interested in the same study could be expected to conduct the indirect request strategies by adding more factors. ","PeriodicalId":89555,"journal":{"name":"Global health governance : the scholarly journal for the new health security paradigm","volume":"75 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77297426","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The story of human creation is commonly called the story of Adam and Eve. Often, the story we hear is implicated in the marginalization of woman through Eve because she was created from Adam’s ribs, and she was the cause of Adam’s sin by eating fruit which was forbidden by God. The story is confirmed in the Bible so that it can give rise to biased interpretations. This study will offer another perspective in reading the stories of Adam and Eve written in the scriptures from Genesis 2 and 3. The postmodern feminist theory will be employed in rereading the figure of Eve in the Bible. The idea of this theory is that Liyan as a way to exist. Hence, the figure of Eve is attributed to the figure of Liyan who has the ability to exist. Analysis of this Eve figure will be focused on Julia Kristeva’s view of the abject concept. Eventually, the concept of abject and Liyan stated in the postmodern feminist converged on the view that exclusion or non-existence is not entirely oppression which lead to the weakness figure. This is very closely related to the figure of Eve in the Bible so that the attribution in this study will lead to how Eve is seen as an existing abject. The result of this study reveals that Eve cannot be seen simply by focusing on her weaknesses by failing to maintain a commitment not to violate God’s rules. Yet, her negligence becomes an opening for knowledge. Eve’s negligence has manifested the world we currently live in as well. Holy books should be read with a variety of more egalitarian and unbiased perspectives so that gender justice can be realized without the pretext of religion as a barrier.  ","PeriodicalId":89555,"journal":{"name":"Global health governance : the scholarly journal for the new health security paradigm","volume":"168 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85002161","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This means when a family business is owned by the family but managed by a non-family member. This article explores the possibility of approaching succession process using design thinking—an approach based on appreciative inquiry. By identifying the various dimensions in which succession in family business takes place, this article introduces to business leaders a strength-based approach for creating an imagined future, that is satisfactory and acceptable after the incumbent phase out and successor phase in take place. The article emphasizes on creating of a singular image—a shared cognitive map for succession. When business leaders wilfully design a singular image, they have shared cognitive map that facilitates succession. The article provides guiding questions for design thinking in succession in family business.","PeriodicalId":89555,"journal":{"name":"Global health governance : the scholarly journal for the new health security paradigm","volume":"39 1","pages":"53 - 69"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76748487","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It uses a set of strongly balanced panel data consisting 91 manufacturing firms listed on Bombay Stock Exchange of India from 2009 to 2016 and employs fixed effect regression model under panel data analysis. The study documents a positive effect of concentrated promoters’ ownership on the value of Indian manufacturing firms and endorses the monitoring role played by large owners. It also accepts the possibility of co-existence of both monitoring and expropriation effects, with the former having a dominating influence, as the overall impact of large promoters is a trade-off between the benefits of active monitoring and cost of expropriation. The study is expected to have important implications in strategy making in the domain of corporate finance and governance and to act as a piece of reliable empirical evidence for the academicians and business analysts of this domain.","PeriodicalId":89555,"journal":{"name":"Global health governance : the scholarly journal for the new health security paradigm","volume":"18 1","pages":"70 - 82"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91005225","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Here, four SRI indices are considered and then daily monthly return is computed for further analysis. The data period ranges are between December 1998 and March 2016. The study uses dummy variable approaches to examine the various impacts of ESG factors on return distribution depending on various situations. It is observed that ESG factors do not have any significant variation on return distribution except in few cases.","PeriodicalId":89555,"journal":{"name":"Global health governance : the scholarly journal for the new health security paradigm","volume":"104 1 1","pages":"20 - 35"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77758788","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, the current study explores the key components that shall be sufficiently pursued in order to assign relevance to such governmental campaigns and foreign capital movement for the future capacity building. In order to determine the same, the present study addresses it descriptively by a non-econometric study based on correlation and linkage with key components like manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index, employment creation, Index of Industrial Production and FDI restrictiveness index and empirically by applying the Granger causality tests (post unit root stationarity conversion) between the key factors of FDI and FDI inflows in India from 2000 to 2016 (from the eclectic paradigm of OLI [Ownership, Location and Internalization] factors) in the light of the MII campaign. The result indicates that the ease of doing business, gross domestic product growth rate and exchange rate volatility are the prime factors contributing to the inflow of FDI in India. Therefore, the think-tanks will need to draft such a policy framework that enables the required boosting of these key elements to make campaigns like MII really promising in the Indian context. The same could be harnessed through the promotion of greenfield investments, adequate infrastructure, improved governance, tax reforms, rationalizing land and labour reforms, etc.","PeriodicalId":89555,"journal":{"name":"Global health governance : the scholarly journal for the new health security paradigm","volume":"1 1","pages":"115 - 98"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74858911","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study is based on strategic investment announcements made by BSE-500 firms, and final sample for the study consists of 581 strategic investment announcements made by 217 firms. These decisions have been classified into seven categories. In order to examine the reaction of share prices to the strategic investment announcements, the event study methodology (Brown and Warner, Journal of Financial Economics, 14, 3–31, 1985; MacKinlay, Journal of Economic Literature, 35, 13–39, 1997) has been applied. The relationship between abnormal returns and independent variables is examined with multiple regression analysis. The results provide strong evidence that the strategic investment decisions’ announcements in India contain a positive information signal, and these are perceived as value-enhancing decisions by the investors. The results also help to improve the understanding of how different firm-specific factors may influence market reaction to announcements of strategic investment decisions.","PeriodicalId":89555,"journal":{"name":"Global health governance : the scholarly journal for the new health security paradigm","volume":"36 1","pages":"1 - 19"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86982470","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

S&P BSE 500 companies have been selected for the study, and the sample period of 11 years commencing from 1 January 2005 to 31 December 2015 is taken. Life cycle of the firm is classified into five stages—introduction, growth, maturity, shake-out and decline phase. Cash flow patterns form the premise of such classification. All the four independent variables—size of company, proportion of cumulative retained profits as of total equity, total equity to total asset ratio and return on total assets (ROA)—turn out to be significant contributors in professing the occurrence of dividend payment event at the maturity stage of the firms’ life cycle.","PeriodicalId":89555,"journal":{"name":"Global health governance : the scholarly journal for the new health security paradigm","volume":"13 1","pages":"36 - 52"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80880765","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
