Apart from seasonal observations, to the best of our knowledge, a planetary relationship in medicine is observed for the first time. The statistical significance is well above 5[Formula: see text], while various crosschecks make systematics highly improbable as the cause. The observed planetary dependence in physics was suggestive for this investigation, which extends the otherwise unexpected planetary connection. Thus, streaming invisible matter from the dark sector, whose flux can be occasionally enhanced towards the Earth via planetary gravitational focusing, and, even much stronger by the Sun, it may be the explanation for 1–10% of melanoma diagnoses. The derived shortest melanoma periodicity of about 87.5 days points in its own right at a short latency period of about few months. Contrariwise, the present findings strengthen the previous physics claim of streams of invisible matter.","PeriodicalId":88835,"journal":{"name":"Biophysical reviews and letters","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1142/S179304801850008X","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48670730","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The treatment is based on the conventional concept that the replication process of such viruses takes place at the membrane complexes formed with participation of viral proteins, e.g., NS5A in the HCV case. The key novel prediction supported by Monte Carlo calculations is that this scheme may be insufficient in order to describe the very initial phase of the process, because the initial intracellular viral RNA and protein populations may in this case go extinct rather than overcome the kinetic barrier for transition to the full-scale infection of a host cell. Practically, this means that in such situations, the conventional replication scenario should be complemented by another pathway, e.g., by replication outside the membrane without viral proteins, which operates in the very beginning.","PeriodicalId":88835,"journal":{"name":"Biophysical reviews and letters","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1142/S1793048018500078","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43789931","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this study was to implement a novel method based on cepstral analysis for noninvasive determination of local wave speed in the carotid artery. To show the precision of the proposed method, we specially focused on the effect of age. In addition, we intended to compare the obtained results to those obtained by the foot-to-foot method. Our method consists in measuring the instantaneous blood velocity in the internal carotid by using phase-contrast magnetic resonance imaging in 20 healthy subjects distributed as follows: 10 young subjects aged between 22 and 41 years, and 10 old subjects aged between 50 and 86 years. The cepstral analysis was used to determine the arrival time of the reflection wave and the wave speed in the carotid artery. A statistical test analysis was conducted in order to establish the relation between the wave speed and the age in the sample under investigation. Our main finding was that there was a high significant difference between the two groups forming the studied sample ([Formula: see text]). In terms of the internal carotid arterial branch, our experimental results were in total agreement with reference values by the invasive method reported in the literature. Moreover, the wave speed detected using our method correlated with that detected using foot-to-foot analysis ([Formula: see text], [Formula: see text]). We can conclude that the new technique described in this paper offers a promising, convenient and efficient method to measure wave speed noninvasively.","PeriodicalId":88835,"journal":{"name":"Biophysical reviews and letters","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1142/S1793048018500054","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44568590","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Introducing the interval numbers in functional form, the SVEIR model is proposed and formulated. The existence of possible equilibrium points with their feasibility criteria and an explicit value of basic reproduction number is obtained. The asymptotic stability of the system at different equilibrium points are also discussed. Next by considering treatment and vaccination as two control parameters, an optimal control problem is formulated and solved. Finally, some computer simulation works are given in support of our analytical results.","PeriodicalId":88835,"journal":{"name":"Biophysical reviews and letters","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1142/S1793048018500042","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46033916","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
