El objetivo del estudio, fue identificar la concentración y método de aplicación de Se que permita la obtención de plántulas de calidad en cultivo de pimiento, por ello, se establecieron dos experimentos bajo condiciones de invernadero cultivados en solución nutritiva. En el experimento 1, para aplicación radical, se cultivaron plántulas en solución nutritiva enriquecida con Se en forma de Na3SeO4 en concentraciones de: 0.0, 1.0, 2.5, 5.0 y 10.0 μM. En el experimento 2, para aplicación foliar, las plántulas se asperjaron con Se en forma de Na3SeO4 en concentraciones de 0, 5, 10, 25 y 50 μM. En cada experimento se utilizó un diseño experimental completamente al azar con cinco repeticiones por tratamiento. El suministro de 1 y 5 μM de Se mediante aplicación radical y foliar respectivamente, estimularon el crecimiento de las plántulas de pimiento, asimismo, la presencia de Se en ambos métodos de aplicación, aumentó la concentración de pigmentos fotosintéticos en hojas. El Se mejoró la calidad de las plántulas, al inducir respuestas favorables en el crecimiento y concentración de pigmentos fotosintéticos.","PeriodicalId":8876,"journal":{"name":"Biotecnia","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2022-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47123190","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Sonora, México is the second shrimp producer state. The following extracts were obtained: exoskeleton hexanic, methanolic and acqueous extracts (ExHex, ExMe, ExAc); and cephalothorax hexanic, acetonic and methanolic extracts (CeHex, CeAce, CeMe). Antibacterial effect was determined by the broth microdilution method against Gram-positive bacteria: Enterococcus faecalis American Type Culture Collection (ATCC) 51299, Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25293, and Staphylococcus epidermidis; Gram-negative bacteria: Escherichia coli ATCC 25922, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 10145, and Salmonella typhimurium; and Mycobacterium bovis bacillus Calmette-Guérin (M. bovis BCG) Danish strain. CeHex resulted active against all Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria (MIC50= 400 ug mL-1) and against M. bovis BCG (MIC100= 250 ug mL-1). Gas chromatography (GC) of CeHex identified oleic, linoleic, palmitic, stearic, behenic, palmitoleic and linolenic fatty acids. The strong antibacterial activity of CeHex and the identification of its main chemical constituents justify further studies on the clinical applications of this marine by-product.","PeriodicalId":8876,"journal":{"name":"Biotecnia","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2022-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44277394","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities of chickpea proteins hydrolysate fractions were evaluated. The extensive protein hydrolysate (greater than 50 %) obtained by enzymatic hydrolysis was fractionated and 5-10 kDa, 3-5 kDa, 1-3 kDa, and ≤1 kDa fractions were obtained. The anti-inflammatory activity was determined in murine peritoneal macrophages stimulated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Fractions of F5-10 kDa, F3-5 kDa, F1-3 kDa presented the highest inhibition of nitric oxide (76 %), Tumoral Necrosis Factor-α (93 %), and Interleukin-1β (90 %) synthesis. Antioxidant activity was evaluated by ABTS, DPPH methods, Fe3+ reducing power and Cu2+ chelating capacity. The fraction of F1-3 kDa showed higher inhibition of ABTS (78 %) and DPPH (7.76 %) radicals, besides showed the highest Fe3+ reducing capacity (0.508 Abs700nm), for Cu2+ chelating capacity F≤1 kDa showed higher inhibition (52.60 %). Chickpea protein shows biological activities such as anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, so it can be considered a source of low molecular weight bioactive peptides that can be used as alternative therapies for certain diseases related to chronic inflammation.","PeriodicalId":8876,"journal":{"name":"Biotecnia","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2022-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44440586","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

La extracción de la lignina se realizó aplicando un procedimiento organosolv y fue caracterizada por espectroscopía de infrarrojo, microscopía electrónica de barrido, y análisis termogravimétrico. La actividad antioxidante fue determinada a través de la estabilización de los radicales libres DPPH y ABTS. Los resultados mostraron mayor contenido de lignina y rendimiento de extracción en las cáscaras de nuez. El espectro infrarrojo reveló bandas típicas de los principales grupos funcionales; grupos –OH fenólicos, grupos metilo C–H3 y metoxilo O–CH3 los cuales forman parte del anillo aromático de la lignina. La lignina de lirio acuático (LLA) mostró alta resistencia a la degradación térmica la cual la sitúa como componente interesante para el desarrollo de resinas fenólicas y retardantes de flama. La lignina extraída de las cáscaras de nuez pecanera (LCN) mostró un alto porcentaje de inhibición contra los radicales DPPH y ABTS cuando fue solubilizada en etanol, metanol y mezclas de etanol-metanol 50:50 v/v. The aim of this study was to characterize a new isolate of Beauveria spp. and compare it to the LBB-1 commercial strain. The isolate was collected from the ant Atta insularis and adults of the coffee borer, respectively. It was cultivated on solid SDAY medium enriched with 1% yeast extract. The biological effectiveness of the isolate was determined on C. formicarius. DNA was isolated using the CTAB method and an internal transcribed spacer (ITS1, ITS4) were used as primers for amplification. The consensus sequence obtained was deposited in GenBank (MK246940) and used for phylogenetic analysis. This isolate showed differences in morphological characteristics; however, it showed low genetic variability regarding worldwide isolates of B. bassiana. Concerning its biological effectiveness, the isolate demonstrated to be virulent on the phytophagous adults, producing 50% mortality. Four clades were identified and the polytomous topography recovered for clade 1 indicates high genetic similarity (99-96%) with Beauveria bassiana from several countries. The morphological and molecular characterization made it possible to accurately identify the new isolate as Beauveria bassiana. The identified specie is another possibility for integrated pest management in Cuba and Mexico.","PeriodicalId":8876,"journal":{"name":"Biotecnia","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2022-03-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42251859","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

El objetivo de este estudio fue evaluar el impacto de la separación sólida-líquida del agua residual porcina sobre la producción de metano, utilizando lodo granular (LG) y lodo disperso (LD), bajo tres concentraciones. La concentración de DQO en el efluente crudo (EC) fue de 13,640 mg/L, con 69 % correspondiente a la fracción sólida (FS) y el resto para la fracción líquida (FL). Los resultados indican que los cultivos con la FS produjeron una mayor cantidad de metano, incrementándose 1.47, 1.31 y 1.22 veces en comparación al EC, para las concentraciones de 3, 6 y 9 g SSV/L de LD. La estrategia de separación sólida-líquida resultó en incrementos en la producción de metano, evidenciado porque la suma del metano acumulado por la FS y FL fue entre 2.14 y 2.28 veces mayor que la cantidad obtenida por el EC.
