Systems biology integrates the computer applications and experimental biology in modeling’s, predictions and characterizations of complex and dynamic properties of biological systems. Particularly, multi-omics studies, high-throughput sequencing techniques and microarray techniques made possible the generation of large datasets from biological systems that could help in understanding the comprehensive molecular pathways, systems functions and behaviors. In the last decade, the computer science and systems biology approaches increased the interest in pathway based biomarker identification, identifying disease genes and drug targets, generation of global genetic interaction maps, and development of new diagnosis and therapeutics methods for deadly diseases and contemporary outbreaks. In this letter, I summarize the breakthroughs of the decade and future challenges in uncover the complex components of biological systems.","PeriodicalId":88542,"journal":{"name":"Journal of computer science and systems biology","volume":"184 1","pages":"1-2"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72672972","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The sensing and classification of acoustic signal emitted during tree cutting, is used to extract information of tree cutting events using sensors. Detecting the acoustic signal due to saw scratching power level in presence of ambiance noise and the other choral noise sources is a major issue in a forest environment. An acoustic sensor experimental setup is established for capturing the acoustic signal generated due to cross cut sawing with varying distances. Based on the experimental analysis, saw scratching acoustic signal is found with appropriate for tree cutting detection. The acoustic signal pre-processing is performed with the help of a SNR algorithm. The extraction of features in frequency space is done by using modified MFCC and spectral features extraction. Modified MFCC feature based dynamic time warping (MDTW) and spectral feature based Gauss-Bayesian classifier (SGBC) are used and compared.","PeriodicalId":88542,"journal":{"name":"Journal of computer science and systems biology","volume":"51 1","pages":"178-184"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82266091","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This work extracted 34 popular Heart Rate Variability (HRV) features based on the MIT-BIH Arrhythmia Database. Combinations of 11 feature selection algorithms and 2 classification algorithms are used to discover the effective features of the abnormal ECG signal detection. The systematic comparisons show that the combination of 34 original features has a stable classification performance for 3 different time windows, i.e., 32 RR-intervals, 5 minutes, and 30 minutes of raw ECG records. It has been discovered that a 10-feature combination (RMSSD, SDNN, CV, TINN, HF, SampEn, SD1/SD2, VAI, ED, and DC) can rapidly classify the arrhythmia and normal state, based on the shortest ECG records (32 RR-intervals). The future work will utilize this combination of features to implement in a portable ECG equipment and clinical Arrhythmia on-line detection.","PeriodicalId":88542,"journal":{"name":"Journal of computer science and systems biology","volume":"1 1","pages":"1-9"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83978436","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of which is mining opinion (or sentiment analysis) that is useful in natural language processing, text mining, and speech recognition, etc., which is widely functional in different information industries. The Online Social Media has created new multiple avenues for sharing of different kind of information among folks for social awareness and sharing views among them. The research based in the context of customer review mining on online various pharmaceutical products evaluation with respect to the frequency of a particular medicine usage, customer personal satisfaction, influential marketing products strategy, online pharmaceutical suggestions and prescriptions, and the impact of medicines on health, etc. The research focus on sentiment analysis of multiple customer reviews on different medicines to evaluate the quality and satisfaction of that product. Further, sentiment approach has been assumed that can help pharmaceutical enterprises in improving and maintaining the quality of product services based on the review of customer. The research aims to use lexiconbased approach for sentiment classification according to positive, negative or neutral type of polarity but to a limited extent. The accuracy and reliability of results is a challenge when parsing complex sentences and words due to insufficient undistinguishable data.
