Further analysis of a cross-sectional study of the 2017 Indonesia Demographic and Health Survey was carried out. The analysis was restricted to 4,017 married women aged 15 to 24 in Indonesia. The outcome of this study was that there is an unmet need for contraception. Logistic regression was performed to estimate the adjusted odds ratio. Generally, the unmet need for family planning among young women is still high, and the figure is 9.3% for young married women. Unmet need was higher among women in particular groups, including those with more children, women who were cohabiting, those with a higher level of education, living in rural areas, if their husbands wanted more children, and where other family members in the household made the decision for access to healthcare. Access to reproductive health information and services must be increased to address the unmet need for contraception among young women. Promoting the ideal age for marriage and expanding access to education are essential measures.","PeriodicalId":85846,"journal":{"name":"Warasan prachakon lae sangkhom = Journal of population and social studies","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45458790","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to that, many instruments were developed to assess a healthy lifestyle in general; however, the measurement issue remains important for scholars, especially when it involves different samples. Furthermore, the quality of instruments is influenced by their validity and reliability. This study aims to translate, adapt, and establish validity evidence and reliability for the Malay version of the Adolescents’ Healthy Lifestyle Questionnaire in Klang Valley, Malaysia. The validity evidence was tested using exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and reliability using Cronbach’s alpha. There are 11 components: healthy diet, physical activity, substance abuse, health responsibility, sleep quality, interpersonal relationships, social health, mental health, accident prevention, environmental health, and suicidal tendencies, with 116 items created for the instrument. From EFA, ten components with 64 items of the healthy lifestyle questionnaire among adolescents explained 55.60% of the variance in the pattern of relationships among the items. All ten components had high reliability (α =. 733 — α = .906). Hence, the items can be used for data collection to understand the practices of a healthy lifestyle for future research.","PeriodicalId":85846,"journal":{"name":"Warasan prachakon lae sangkhom = Journal of population and social studies","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49550598","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By utilizing 14 years of longitudinal information, this study investigated the link between empowerment and later life well-being among women. Data from two later rounds of the Indonesian Family Life Survey (IFLS3 [2000] & IFLS5 [2014/2015]) were analyzed using logistic regression with robust standard error. Results showed that unempowered women were more likely to have trouble in activities of daily living (ADL) in older age. When the analysis was specified based on living locations, empowerment among women living on the island of Java had no statistical association with later life well-being. In contrast, empowerment among women living off the island of Java was highly significant in affecting ADL problems with double strength in magnitude as that of the general sample. This finding provided insight into the vital role that empowerment plays in older adults’ well-being, especially those living off the island of Java. Moreover, having a chronic disease is associated with having a higher likelihood of difficulties with ADL. Older adults who were involved in paid activities are found to perform better in ADL than older persons not working. Furthermore, having more family members impacts the likelihood of difficulties with women’s ADL.","PeriodicalId":85846,"journal":{"name":"Warasan prachakon lae sangkhom = Journal of population and social studies","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42951649","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose is to investigate stakeholder attitudes to the transit-oriented development (TOD) approach to the station premises. The attitudes of local businesses and key stakeholders to joint programs on infrastructure development and the surrounding area are identified as local businesses encouraging the collaborative urban regeneration program. The approach uses scenarios as a tool for participatory planning to help identify future applications, including a workshop in two parts. The first part was conducted using group interviews with local entrepreneurs to raise the idea of the collaborative urban regeneration program. The second part was an evaluation of the program by the three key stakeholder groups: municipality, railway operators, and real estate investors. The scenarios evaluated by the key stakeholders indicate the different attitudes to the collaborative urban regeneration program depending on the role of each stakeholder. The collaborative program developed by local entrepreneurs can be classified by economic and physical factors. The findings suggest a common aspect for future collaboration in marketing strategies, such as advertising representing localness, as both local entrepreneurs and key stakeholders mostly agreed on the program. Disagreement on collaborative urban regeneration depends more on the specific role of the company or organization.","PeriodicalId":85846,"journal":{"name":"Warasan prachakon lae sangkhom = Journal of population and social studies","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44780300","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study sought to examine the effects of health insurance coverage and socioeconomic status of women on antenatal care utilization in Ghana. The study used cross-sectional data from the 2014 Ghana Demographic and Health Survey (GDHS). Negative binomial and binary logistic regression models were applied. The results showed that women covered with national health insurance were more likely to have more antenatal care visits and adequate and timely antenatal care. The results showed that having an advanced age, attaining secondary or higher-level education, being employed, being in the richest wealth quintile, and having an active national health insurance subscription during pregnancy significantly predicted ANC utilization. The study suggests that if interventions aimed at reducing the burden of prenatal care are not implemented, coupled with women’s economic empowerment to cater to the cost of prenatal care, the benefits of the ANC associated with early and adequate ANC services may not optimally be achieved. That aside, ANC services in Ghana are technically ‘free’ through the user-fee exemption policy under the NHIS. However, socioeconomic factors still largely determine women’s decisions to utilize maternal health services.","PeriodicalId":85846,"journal":{"name":"Warasan prachakon lae sangkhom = Journal of population and social studies","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46061285","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, there are no specific guidelines for women's empowerment interventions in this area. This study aimed to explore the dimensions of women's empowerment to cope effectively with domestic violence in a sample of women and related experts. In this qualitative content analysis, data was gathered via 21 individual semi-constructed interviews and two five-person focus group discussions. Thirty-one participants were selected by the purposive sampling approach. Fifteen subcategories were extracted after the data analysis, which included multiple revisions and the merging of 892 primary codes based on similarity, which led to the extraction of 15 subcategories. Then, five main categories were identified as dimensions of women’s empowerment to cope effectively with domestic violence: marital life skills, cognitive self-appraisal, attitude, economic agency, and access to resources. Participants cited marital life skills and attitude as essential dimensions of women's empowerment. These results provide a comprehensive view of the dimensions of women’s empowerment to cope effectively with domestic violence in Iran that can be used as a basis for planning empowerment interventions to promote women’s health against violence.","PeriodicalId":85846,"journal":{"name":"Warasan prachakon lae sangkhom = Journal of population and social studies","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44953172","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the intention to use modern contraception is declining among women of childbearing age. The proportion of women wishing to use contraception has dropped from 66% in 2010 to 53% in 2016–2017. This research aims to verify whether household poverty is at the root of this contraceptive non-intention of women whose couples hope for better wealth from a large group of offspring. Data from the 2010 and 2016–2017 Demographic and Health Surveys of Burundi were analyzed using multilevel logistic regression. There is no significant difference in contraceptive non-intention found between women from poor households and those with medium standards of living (p = .587 ˃ .05) or rich (p = .098 ˃ .05) in 2010 or between women from wealthy households and those from poor (p = .101 ˃ .05) or medium (p = .689 ˃ .05) standards of living in 2016–2017. Standard of living does not count among the principal factors of contraceptive non-intention in Burundi. Instead, attention should be paid to sociocultural factors.","PeriodicalId":85846,"journal":{"name":"Warasan prachakon lae sangkhom = Journal of population and social studies","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43492144","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While the link between household technology and women’s labor force participation was analyzed, the research on the impact of household technology on women’s occupational choices in the labor market (e.g., white-collar, pink-collar, blue-collar jobs, agricultural) and full-time homemakers was not the focus. Primary data were obtained from the Indonesia Demographic and Health Survey 2017. The data involved a usable sample of 32,559 married women aged 15–49. Using the multinomial logistic model, the study finds evidence that household technology primarily supports married women in pink-collar jobs. Thus, information and communication technology facilitates women in white-collar jobs. However, these elements are negatively linked to women’s labor force participation in blue-collar and agriculture. Additionally, the study reveals that the lack of household technology influences inactive married women in the labor market (homemakers).","PeriodicalId":85846,"journal":{"name":"Warasan prachakon lae sangkhom = Journal of population and social studies","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43888928","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Against this background, the objectives of this paper are twofold: to identify possible depressive signs and suicide warnings exhibited by older people before the act of suicide, and to examine the factors affecting the help-seeking behavior of older people who die by suicide. The study revealed that angry outbursts, sleep disturbance, isolation, reduced speaking, and thoughts of the meaninglessness of life are the significant possible signs of depression. However, only a few older persons directly expressed early warnings such as ‘talking about death or suicide.’ Yet, it seems that family members are unaware of the early warning signs. The study found four significant factors that limit the help-seeking behavior of older people dealing with suicidality: a weak social network, poor understanding of depressive and suicidal signs by family members, negative attitudes relating to old age culture, and a crisis of personal perspectives in help-seeking. We conclude that promoting mental health services to older persons and improving their help-seeking behavior in response to various life stressors would help prevent suicide in the older population.","PeriodicalId":85846,"journal":{"name":"Warasan prachakon lae sangkhom = Journal of population and social studies","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43156585","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Even though Bangladesh has been badly affected by COVID-19, the pandemic is still a concern across the country. This study was conducted to explore regional variations in preventive health practices of rural adults during the COVID-19 pandemic, and to determine the predictors regarding COVID-19 prevention. A cross-sectional survey was conducted in rural Bangladesh in 2020 among 810 respondents selected by multi-stage random sampling. Data collection was done by face-to-face interviews using a questionnaire. The results showed that almost half of the rural adults (48.1%) had poor health practices regarding COVID-19 prevention. Rural adults of the Mymensingh district showed relatively better health practices during the pandemic (U = 58,747.5, p < 0.001). Not only the background issues but also information, attitude, motivation, and intention in COVID-19 prevention were significant in predicting the health practices of rural adults in COVID-19 prevention. The significant regional effect was determined in COVID-19 prevention behavior of rural adults (p < 0.001) in hierarchical regression, explained through a modified reasoned action approach. Health programs should be strengthened more, not only to improve preventive health practices of rural adults but also to establish regional equity in COVID-19 prevention, ensuring region-specific initiatives on behavioral changes.","PeriodicalId":85846,"journal":{"name":"Warasan prachakon lae sangkhom = Journal of population and social studies","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46939875","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
