The superconducting transition temperatures of these films are much higher than that of bulk molybdenum. The optical properties of these thin-films have been studied using terahertz time-domain spectroscopy. Their properties have been compared with the existing materials used for the development of radiation detectors. The resistivity of the films lies in >100 micro-Ohm-cm range which is ideal for making highly sensitive radiation detectors. The Hall measurements indicate the presence of holes as the dominant carriers with very small mean free path and mobility. In the normal state, the films are disordered bad metal but they have large superfluid density and stiffness in their superconducting state. The normal state and superconducting properties of the films are very promising for their use in cryogenic radiation detectors for microwave, terahertz, and far IR frequency ranges.","PeriodicalId":8514,"journal":{"name":"arXiv: Superconductivity","volume":"12 9","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91433722","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We observe an emergent Ag-symmetry As phonon mode in the XY scattering geometry whose intensity is significantly enhanced below the magneto-structural transition only for compounds showing magnetic ordering. We conclude that the small lattice anisotropy is insufficient to induce the in-plane electronic polarizability anisotropy necessary for the observed phonon intensity enhancement, and interpret this enhancement below the Neel temperature in terms of the anisotropy of the magnetic moment and magneto-elastic coupling. We evidence a Fano line- shape in the XY scattering geometry resulting from a strong coupling between the Ag (As) phonon mode and the B2g symmetry-like electronic continuum. Strong electron-phonon coupling may be relevant to superconductivity.","PeriodicalId":8514,"journal":{"name":"arXiv: Superconductivity","volume":"38 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81281635","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The transport properties near the transition temperature are strongly dependent on whether the room-temperature filter is installed or not. The entire transition is shifted to higher temperature with loading layers of the room-temperature filters. Once the zero-resistance state is achieved at B=0, no strong radiation effect is observed even with low-temperature filters installed. When magnetic field is turned on, the nonzero-resistance saturation at low temperatures is revealed without low-temperature filters, which has been considered to be magnetic-field-induced quantum metallic phase. However, the insertion of the additional low-temperature filter weakens the saturation of the resistance, the signature of the metallic behavior. This observation suggests that the previously reported anomalous metallic state in Ta films is mainly induced by the unfiltered radiation and, thus, the intrinsic metallic ground state should be limited to the narrow range of magnetic fields near the critical point, if exists.","PeriodicalId":8514,"journal":{"name":"arXiv: Superconductivity","volume":"32 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86478478","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We consider the thermal stability of previously predicted unusual double-quanta flux-line lattice ground states in such superconductors. In previous works it was shown that, neglecting thermal fluctuations, a chiral $p$-wave superconductor forms a hexagonal lattice of doubly-quantized vortices, except extremely close vicinity of $H_{c2}$ where double-quanta vortices split apart. We find dissociation of double-quanta vortices driven by thermal fluctuations. However, our calculations also show that the previous predictions of hexagonal doubly-quantized vortices, where thermal fluctuations were ignored, are very robust in the considered model.","PeriodicalId":8514,"journal":{"name":"arXiv: Superconductivity","volume":"30 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82214999","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thermodynamic and muon spin rotation experiments support type-I superconductivity, which is unusual for a binary compound. A key property of a type-I superconductor is the intermediate state which presents a coexistence of superconducting and normal domains (flux structures) at magnetic fields lower than the thermodynamic critical field $H_{c}$. By means of scanning SQUID microscopy (SSM) we observe flux structures in the superconducting state of PdTe${}_2$. The flux structures are strongly history dependent with a transition from round shapes to laminar shapes as the magnetic field is more and more increased. The field amplitudes measured at the surface are indicative for the presence of Landau branching. The domain wall width in the intermediate state has been determined.","PeriodicalId":8514,"journal":{"name":"arXiv: Superconductivity","volume":"28 1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78865839","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Sun $et$ $al$., Phys. Rev. Lett. {bf 123}, 097001 (2019)] to exhibit the highest ever predicted superconducting transition temperature $T_{rm c}$ under high pressure. Based on first-principles density-functional theory calculations, we reveal that the Li dopants locating in the pyroclore lattice sites give rise to the excess electrons distributed in interstitial regions. Such loosely bound anionic electrons are easily captured to stabilize a clathrate structure consisting of H cages. This addition of anionic electrons to H cages enhances the H-derived electronic density of states at the Fermi level, thereby leading to a high-$T_{rm c}$ superconductivity. We thus propose that the electride nature of Li dopants is an essential ingredient in the charge transfer between Li dopants and H atoms. Our findings offer a deeper understanding of the underlying mechanism of charge transfer in Li$_2$MgH$_{16}$ at high pressure.","PeriodicalId":8514,"journal":{"name":"arXiv: Superconductivity","volume":"30 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86325206","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is shown how topological superconductivity (TS) is affected by the interplay between the magnetic field and the orientation of the junction with respect to its crystallographic axes. This interplay can be used to electrically tune between BDI and D symmetry classes in a controlled fashion and thereby optimize the stability and localization of Majorana bound states in planar Josephson junctions. Our findings can be used as a guide for achieving the most favorable conditions when engineering TS in planar JJs and can be particularly relevant for setups containing non-collinear junctions which have been proposed for performing braiding operations on multiple Majorana pairs.","PeriodicalId":8514,"journal":{"name":"arXiv: Superconductivity","volume":"54 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90932518","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In a simple model of a correlated band insulator (BI) at half-filling we demonstrate, based on a generalization of the projected wavefunctions method, that SC emerges when e-e interactions and the bare band-gap are both much larger than the kinetic energy, provided the system has sufficient frustration against the magnetic order. As the interactions are tuned, SC appears sandwiched between the correlated BI followed by a paramagnetic metal on one side, and a ferrimagnetic metal, antiferromagnetic (AF) half-metal, and AF Mott insulator phases on the other side.","PeriodicalId":8514,"journal":{"name":"arXiv: Superconductivity","volume":"PP 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84340995","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In particular, a broadening parameter $Gamma$ is still unaccounted at all, whereas a ballistic condition (the mean free path for inelastic scattering $l$ to the barrier width $d$ ratio) is considered only in the framework of Kummel, Gunsenheimer, and Nikolsky (KGN), as well as Gunsenheimer-Zaikin approaches, for an isotropic case and fully-transparent constriction. Nonetheless, an influence of $l/d$ ratio to the dynamic conductance spectrum ($dI/dV$) features remains disregarded, thus being one of the aims of the current work. Our numerical calculations in the framework of an extended KGN approach develop the $l/d$ variation to determine both the number of the Andreev features and their amplitudes in the $dI/dV$ spectrum. We show, in the spectrum of a diffusive SNS junction ($l/d rightarrow 1$) a suppression of the Andreev excess current, dramatic change in the current voltage $I(V)$-curve slope at low bias, with only the main harmonic at $eV=2Delta$ bias voltage remains well-distinguished in the $dI/dV$-spectrum. Additionally, we attempt to make a first-ever comparison between experimental data for the high-transparency SNS junctions (more than $ 85~%$) and theoretical predictions. As a result, we calculate the temperature dependences of amplitudes and areas of Andreev features within the extended KGN approach, which qualitatively agrees with our experimental data obtained using a \"break-junction\" technique.","PeriodicalId":8514,"journal":{"name":"arXiv: Superconductivity","volume":"61 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87937456","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
