Although the actual number of terminally ill patients receiving hospice care has increased over the past decade, there is a growing concern of underutilization. Research has reported that despite meeting eligibility requirements only twenty-five percent of terminally ill patients have been served by hospice. Further, with a median stay of thirty days, the patients as well as their attending families may not be able to receive the full benefits of hospice care. In an effort to address these issues of underutilization, this exploratory study examines the relationship between physicians' referral behaviors and their awareness and perceived importance of selected hospice services, and agreement with hospice philosophy. Physician demographics and practice characteristics that are related to referral patterns are also identified.</p>","PeriodicalId":84996,"journal":{"name":"Journal of hospital marketing & public relations","volume":"17 1","pages":"3-25"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1300/J375v17n01_02","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"26328395","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They are is also a link between physician and patients locally and globally. PMS discussed in this paper provide various services from tangible to intangible products in order to increase the physicians and pharmacists prescribing activities of their treatment modalities. Given the high cost of recruiting, training, and supporting PMS global marketing efforts, it is important for PMS channels to understand the significance of pharmaceutical multinational companies to ascribe to prescription drug services provided in Thailand. This created the unique marketing environment for the pharmaceutical companies. This study examines whether there is a gap in the existing cholesterol-lowering medication prescribed by physicians in Thailand and the newly introduced brand to the U.S. market. The degree of the new product adoption is analyzed through physician prescription frequency and records. Results of the study indicate there is significant improvement in the health conditions of the users of the new cholesterol medication among Thailand patients. Physicians in Thailand were, however, faced with competing brands in the market due to aggressiveness of advertising and promotion by multinational pharmaceutical marketing and manufacturers Associations. Perceived value and benefit to users were significant outcome of the study. Coaching is defined as using skills, experience, and direction to help someone improve their performance. Coaching consists primarily of giving people feedback to reinforce what they do well while suggesting ways and means to improve. Coaching implies that everybody can improve and hopefully everybody wants to get better at what they do. Many sales managers erroneously believe that they have to be better than the person they are coaching at the skill set they are discussing in order to be a useful coaching resource to that person. To be a good coach requires an understanding of the skills being discussed and a desire to help someone improve in the performance of their job. The sales manager who knows how to provide that feedback will have more productive, effective, satisfied, and motivated salespeople. This paper provides an overview of the coaching sequence and the skills required to make it work with some comment on how this was successfully applied to a major national insurance company. Sales Management styles vary, and what works for one person may not work for another. The virtual classroom becomes an \"active learning\" environment in which students, while utilizing technology, are able to discuss health administration concepts, analyze cases, work exercises, and discuss and share these interactively with both the instructor and fellow classmates. Patients' satisfaction and their expectations of health care are valid indicators of quality health care. The present paper reports the results of a survey of patient satisfaction with heath care, administered by face-to-face interview to 300 in-patient adults discharged from five main regional hospitals based in Mauritius. It examines the predictors and level of patients' satisfaction across the five regional hospitals of Mauritius. In this study, a modified version of HEALTHQUAL scale was used for determining patient satisfaction with health care in the regional public hospitals. Multiple regression analysis was conducted to understand the relationships among patients' perceptions of in-patient services and their overall perceptions of health care quality, and also satisfaction with their care and willingness to return or recommend the same hospital's services to others. The health benefit disparity is strongly related to the disparity in underlying socioeconomic variables.
