{"title":"Husband’s Permission as A Determinant for Breast Cancer Screening among Women of Childbearing Age","authors":"Oluwatobi Daniel Nofiu","doi":"10.15294/JHE.V5I2.38565","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.15294/JHE.V5I2.38565","url":null,"abstract":"Background: Breast screening reduces breast cancer-associated morbidity and mortality, a means to early detection, also increases the chances for successful treatment and cure of the disease. This study was conducted to assess the husband’s permission as a determinant of breast cancer screening among women of childbearing age in The Southwest zone, Nigeria. Method: Ex-post facto research design was used for this paper. A total sample of 768 women of childbearing age in The Southwest zone, Nigeria from a population of 8,261,284 were selected through multi-stage sampling procedures of simple random sampling, proportionate, and systematic sampling techniques. Out of the 768 copies of the questionnaire distributed, 762 were valid for analyses. Inferential statistics of a one-sample t-test was used to test the data collected at 0.05 level of significance. Results: The results revealed that husband’s permission is a determinant of breast cancer screening among women of childbearing age was significant with a t-value of 4.921 and a p-value of 0.001 at 0.05 level of significance. Conclusion: It was concluded that the husband’s permission was a determinant of breast cancer screening among women of childbearing age in The Southwest zone, Nigeria. {"title":"Personal Hygiene Practices in 5th Grade Elementary School Students","authors":"R. Data from the Srondol Community Health Center states that in 2017 the fifth-highest number of diarrhea occurred in elementary school-aged children. SDN Srondol Kulon 02 is a health promoting elementary school in the city of Semarang. Based on School Health Unit data, in 2018 there were 52 students from SDN Srondol Kulon 02 referred to the public health center because of diarrhea and 13 students referred to because of toothache. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that influence personal hygiene practices in 5th grade elementary school students at SDN Srondol Kulon 02. Method: This study was observational analytic with cross-sectional approach using total sampling technique and questionnaire instrument. The sample was 98 5 grade students in SDN Srondol Kulon 02. Data was analyzed by using chi-square test and ordinal regression. Results: There was an influence between Knowledge (p= 0.037) attitudes (p= 0.009) support of teaching staff (p= 0.005) family support (p= 0.008) with personal hygiene practices and no influence between the support of health workers (p= 0.997) and PHBS facilities (p= 0.817) with personal hygiene practices.
