Kanska, Bohdan Denysyk, Mykhailo Vinnytsia","doi":"10.12657/czageo-93-16","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.12657/czageo-93-16","url":null,"abstract":"The aim of the research was to analyze the structure of Ukraine’s anthropogenic landscape and the directions of its development for the purposes of further reconstruction and rational use. The current state of ten types of anthropogenic landscapes was assessed. In the research based on the maps of natural and contemporary landscapes, use was primarily made of historical and archaeological methods, including historical and genetic sequences. The present landscape of Ukraine can be described as the coexistence of three types of landscapes: natural, natural-anthropogenic and anthropogenic. Anthropogenic landscapes which are definitely dominating nowadays, started to be formed in the late Paleolithic. The classification of ten types of anthropogenic landscapes should be improved and supplemented as the new types of anthropogenic landscapes are created, e.g. garden and park landscapes. Anthropogenic landscapes do not exist in isolation, but interact with one another and with natural landscapes. What is particularly noteworthy is the reconstruction of the anthropogenic landscape of the Forest-Field zone. The restoration of landscapes should begin with the creation of an eco-network. The national ecological network is ineffective because it does not take into account anthropogenic landscape changes. The reconstruction of all types of anthropogenic landscapes must allow for their zonal and regional specificity as well as their cultural importance. Część druga zawiera wyniki badań, których celem była diagnoza uwarunkowań powstania oraz propozycja przebiegu Szlaku Pracy Organicznej w Śremie. Koncepcję poddano konsultacjom społecznym wśród mieszkańców Śremu (listopad 2021–styczeń 2022), zgodnie ze społecznym podejściem w planowaniu turystycznym. Wyniki prac obejmują uporządkowaną bazę wiedzy na temat osób zaangażowanych w pracę organiczną oraz jej zróżnicowanych przejawów w Śremie. {"title":"Geodziedzictwo w lesie – o śladach lądolodu na Pałukach","authors":"M. Górska-Zabielska","doi":"10.12657/czageo-93-12","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.12657/czageo-93-12","url":null,"abstract":"The aim of the research is to make an inventory of nine large erratic boulders lying in situ in the forested areas of Pałuki in the north-east Wielkopolska (West Poland). Due to their location unchanged since the deglaciation times, they can be used to establish the chronology of the deglaciation of the last ice sheet in north-western Poland. The knowledge of large erratic boulders along with other elements of geodiversity of Pałuki, a peripheral tourist region, is a potential for the development of geotourism, which in turn can be a driving force for the sustainable development of the region. Field work was used to collect data characterizing individual boulders and indicating their source area in Scandinavia, if they represent the indicator type of an erratic. Attention was paid to the record of sub/inglacial and periglacial processes affecting the foreland of the melting ice sheet, as well as contemporary morphogenetic processes. The detailed description of the boulders emphasized their scientific, cognitive, educational, upbringing, cultural, conservation, pro-environmental and recreational importance. The location of the erratic boulders in the forest makes them interesting targets for tourism in naturally valuable areas. In the age of changing social expectations with regard to forest functions in favor of social, educational (ecological education) and tourist and recreational functions, their good promotion is necessary, preceded by expert research. The aim of the paper is to reveal and describe the role and significance of the concept of energy security within the external energy policy of the USA with particular attention to its regional aspects. In a theoretical section, a number of definitions of energy security were discussed and summarized, presenting a brief theoretical overview of energy security. Besides, the need for a spatially diversified approach towards energy policy planning and implementation was described briefly. Analyzing relevant secondary data sources (Department of Energy and Congressional Research Service publications, energy statistics, etc.), the main priorities of U.S. external energy policy were identified and discussed: international assistance and capacity building, environmentally friendly energy development and ensuring energy security (of both the USA and its international allies and partners). Thus, the general framework of U.S. external energy policy was suggested and generalized. This approach means focusing on the historical dimension of the contemporary world and on identifying the influence of the former spatial organization of a given area on its current features. The main goal of the article is to analyze the present condition of the most important elements of the immovable material cultural heritage of the Polish-German border area, focusing on the case study of Lubusz Land. This analysis is preceded by a discussion of the origins and typical features of individual heritage elements in the research area, and concludes with an attempt to define the perspectives for these components in terms of their social perception, protection and role in the development of contemporary spatial structures and the preservation of their historic character. The research in the scope specified above was carried out with the use of the methodological apparatus of history and socio-economic geography, including the philological, genetic and retrogressive methods as well as visual field analysis, mathematical and statistical methods and the cartographic presentation of phenomena. The conducted analysis allowed the formulation of conclusions about the quantitative and structural richness of the cultural heritage in the Polish-German border area, which in the genetic aspect is primarily related to the period of domination of German culture in the past centuries. However, the physical condition of this heritage is actually critical due to the impact of economic, legal and property, and institutional factors as well as those related to awareness that were liberated as a result of the collapse of the German state in its shape before 1945, the events of World War II, and radical political, social and economic changes in the post-war period. The post-socialist systemic transformation, initiated in Poland and East Germany in 1990, did not bring about any fundamental positive changes regarding the determinants and factors shaping the fate of the immovable material cultural heritage of the Polish-German border area. This conclusion applies especially to the eastern (Polish) part of this area. Tobolska","doi":"10.12657/czageo-93-07","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.12657/czageo-93-07","url":null,"abstract":"Distance learning in all types of schools from March 2020 to the beginning of June 2021 (with a short break in September 2020) was forced by the COVID-19 pandemic. Previously, in Poland, this form of teaching was used sporadically, basically only for extra-curricular activities. The vast majority of teachers did not have any experience in this field. The large-scale introduction of new forms of distance learning and knowledge transfer and enforcement methods created a number of challenges and opened up new opportunities. The presented study attempts to identify the advantages and disadvantages of distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic in the opinion of primary and secondary school teachers in the Wielkopolska region. The analysis was carried out based on empirical material obtained from questionnaires addressed to all teachers from the Wielkopolska region (703 questionnaires were received). The survey results allowed the diagnosis of positive and negative aspects of distance learning. Among advantages, teachers pointed to growing computer competencies and time and money savings due to no need to travel to work. In turn, as disadvantages were demonstrated, the lowering of teaching quality because of the lack of direct contact with pupils and health problems resulting from decreased physical activity and long-term staying at the computer desk. The teachers’ experience in identifying the advantages and disadvantages of distance learning is undoubtedly an excellent and reliable source of information that can be used in the future to improve the distance learning process. The Noteć River flows through this area, connecting both lakes. The lakes could have been connected and functioned as Wielkie Gopło. Geological reconnaissance was based on five boreholes drilled with a soil auger. The samples were subjected to granulometric analyses and the content of organic matter and calcium carbonate was determined. Eight samples were radiocarbon-dated using the AMS method. Recognition of the valley bottom settlement was done through spatial analysis using six Archaeological Project Records sheets. The results of the research allowed separating three phases of the area development: lake, bog and lake again. The beginning of the last lake development phase and its evolution have not been precisely dated and require research. Archaeological data demonstrate the poor settlement use of the glacial trough. Throughout the prehistoric period, settlement was concentrated at an altitude of 80–85 m above sea level, in the edge zone of trough. This means that the area was marshy and inaccessible for settlement. Drainage, regulation works in the Noteć river basin and industrial activities, led to the lowering of the groundwater level and weakened the lake’s recharge. XX w. wzbudził zainteresowanie przedstawicieli różnych nauk społecznych i humanistycznych tą problematyką, w tym również geografii. Pierwszym celem niniejszego opracowania jest omówienie sytuacji problemowej i konceptualizacja studiów nad festiwalami z perspektywy geografii społeczno-ekonomicznej. Drugim celem związanym z badaniami empirycznymi w Polsce jest charakterystyka oddziaływania i uczestników następujących festiwali: Muzycznego Campingu w Brodnicy w latach 1985 i 1988, Festiwalu Rockowego w Jarocinie w 1988 r. i Jarocin Festiwal w 2018 r. oraz Enea Spring Break Showcase Festival & Conference w 2018 r. Przedmiotem tej dalszej analizy były festiwale, na których autorzy prowadzili badania terenowe (wykorzystanie rejestrów meldunkowych, badania ankietowe, wywiady i obserwacja uczestnicząca) w latach 1985–1988 i w 2018 r. Dokonując porównania cech społeczno-demograficznych festiwalowiczów z imprez w latach 80. i końca drugiej dekady XXI w., można stwierdzić wzrost przeciętnego wieku uczestników oraz zmianę struktury według płci (od wyraźnej dominacji mężczyzn do struktury mniej więcej zrównoważonej). W przypadku festiwalu w Jarocinie zmieniła się również siła jego oddziaływania przestrzennego, a impreza ta przekształciła się z wydarzenia o zasięgu ogólnokrajowym w wydarzenie o zasięgu makroregionalnym. Celem opracowania jest analiza elementów składających się na jakość życia ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem konfliktów przestrzennych na przykładzie strefy podmiejskiej Bydgoszczy i Torunia. W warstwie teoretycznej odwołano się do cebulowej teorii szczęścia J. Czapińskiego. Głównym źródłem danych było badanie ankietowe, które przeprowadzono w styczniu 2022 r. na próbie 1121 osób, mieszkańców rozpatrywanego obszaru.
