Il a laissé un témoignage historique précieux : des mémoires, compilés sous forme de notes par des universitaires tunisiens et publiés dans leur langue originale, en arabe, en 1989. Cet article propose une traduction de quelques extraits et l’analyse d’une source historique de premier ordre, ignorée de l’historiographie française, utile à l’histoire des dynasties ottomane et tunisienne.\u0000À travers la trajectoire singulière du fils de Ḫayr al-Dīn Bāšā, qui prend le chemin inverse de son père d’Istanbul à Tunis, et l’analyse des portraits de trois beys de Tunisie, nous voudrions souligner l’importance de cette source à trois égards. Par les portraits de la cour, ce document jette une nouvelle lumière sur une dynastie victime d’une damnatio memoriae en Tunisie après l’indépendance, en soulignant ses résistances et sa capacité d’adaptation à la période coloniale. Les mémoires de Ṭāhar Bāšā invitent ensuite à réfléchir à l’originalité et au statut d’une source « locale » en contexte colonial, depuis le regard d’un allié (critique) des Français. Enfin, cette source permet de réfléchir à l’émergence du genre des mémoires d’homme d’État et l’originalité d’un regard fondé sur un profond pessimisme.","PeriodicalId":8163,"journal":{"name":"Arabica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2021-12-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42334426","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"哲学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

En étudiant en particulier les propos de Quṭrub (m. 206/821), d’Ibn Ǧinnī (m. 392/1002) et d’Ibn Maḍāʾ (m. 592/1196), il s’efforcera de montrer que les critiques de ces auteurs ne relèvent pas, au premier chef, de raisons linguistiques. L’article souligne comment l’iʿrāb, ayant pris une position centrale dans les théories grammaticales et dans les idées sur la langue arabe au point de devenir un vrai credo, peut finir par concurrencer des croyances d’ordre théologique et, lorsque les prémisses conceptuelles de son fonctionnement ne sont plus compatibles avec ces dernières, la théorie de l’iʿrāb est alors rejetée tant sur le plan théologique que grammatical.","PeriodicalId":8163,"journal":{"name":"Arabica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2021-12-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41980949","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"哲学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is focussed on narrow and broad issues of method, and particularly on inferential evidence for the incidence and nature of this divinity on the evidence of Arabic poetry. It casts a critical look on retrojection Islamic theological concepts to the interpretation of earlier Arabic poetry, and proposes that the now common notion of “pagan monotheism” refers to no actually existing form of religious practice among pre-Muḥammadan Arabs. It reaffirms the salience of polytheism among the Arabs, and the pertinence of concrete historical evidence and of an anthropological sensibility in this domain.\u0000La présente étude porte sur une divinité nommée Allāh avant Muḥammad. Elle se concentre sur la question méthodologique des témoignages poétiques, sur l’envergure et la nature de cette divinité, et sur le contexte plus général des questions de méthode. Elle jette un regard critique sur la projection a posteriori des notions théologiques islamiques dans le cadre des analyses déductives fondées sur la matière poétique. Elle propose que l’idée, bien répandue dans des milieux universitaires, des « monothéistes païens » parmi les Arabes ne fait pas référence à la réalité historique des pratiques religieuses des Arabes avant Muḥammad. Elle souligne l’importance du polythéisme chez les Arabes et la pertinence décisive des données historiques concrètes et d’une sensibilité anthropologique dans ce domaine.","PeriodicalId":8163,"journal":{"name":"Arabica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2021-12-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42919518","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"哲学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
