Pharmacy assistants are on the frontline of community pharmaceutical services in Indonesia, but regulations do not give them the authority to provide patient counselling. Aim of the research: This study explored pharmacy workers’ perceptions about the role of pharmacy assistants to provide patient counselling within the community. Material and methods: This was an exploratory qualitative study with 17 participants, comprising 9 pharmacists and 8 pharmacy assistants recruited through purposive sampling. Data were collected from May to June 2020. Semi-structured interviews were conducted to collect qualitative data on pharmacy workers’ perceptions regarding patient counselling provided by pharmacy assistants. Data analysis was performed thematically. Material and methods: In this interventional study, a total of 60 rats were randomly divided into 4 groups ( n = 15) including a control group, a honey gel group, a polyethylene glycol base group, and an oral honey group. Oral wounds were created (4 × 6 mm) on the anterior palatal rugae, and after 24 h the wounds were rinsed with normal saline solution and the stud- ied groups were treated by topical application of honey gel, polyethylene glycol base, and oral honey. On days 3, 7, and 14, five rats from each group were euthanized and histological samples were prepared, and the tissue slides were stained with haematoxylin eosin and observed under a light microscope. The mean number of neutrophils, fibroblasts, macrophage and blood vessel count, epithelialization, and the density of collagen fibres of each sample were assessed. Data were analysed using ANOVA and Kruskal-Wallis Test. Results: The number of blood vessels and the density of collagen fibres on day 14 were significantly higher in the honey gel group than in the control group ( p < 0.05). The number of blood vessels and the rate of epithelialization on day 14 were significantly increased in honey gel group compared to basal group ( p < 0.05). Other data were not statistically significant among the groups ( p > 0.05). Conclusions: Topical application of honey gel can accelerate the wound healing process of the hard palate.","PeriodicalId":81014,"journal":{"name":"Contributions in medical studies","volume":"29 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72919069","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This involves mediators such as cytokines and constitutes a response to acute inflammations, bacterial infections, tumours, and autoim- mune diseases. C-reactive protein is among the most important APPs. It participates in cancerous processes, especially in colon and rectal cancer. Another APP is haptoglobin. This glycoprotein prevents iron loss and kidney damage, and is associated with diagnostic neoplastic progression connected with fucosylation. Fucoso–haptoglobin is a highly effective marker for prognosis because an increased concentration of this complex is indicative of the distant metastases amount. Another APP is acidic α -glycoprotein (AGP), which increases to a serious level during acute inflammations and tumour-promoting processes. Its protective role involves platelet aggregation inhibition and chemotactic activity. The purpose of this study was to review the role of selected acute phase proteins in cancer promotion and progression.","PeriodicalId":81014,"journal":{"name":"Contributions in medical studies","volume":"53 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80996495","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Their presence can significantly affect the ability to drive vehicles and road safety. The literature on the subject is dominated by studies assessing the functioning on the road of people driving vehicles with diagnosed cognitive disorders of various aetiologies. It is natural to divide them into disorders resulting from the pa-thology of the central nervous system and cognitive dysfunctions present in the course of typically somatic diseases. Assess- ment of identified abnormalities usually involves several stages, but the most documented method of evaluating disorders is neuropsychological examination.","PeriodicalId":81014,"journal":{"name":"Contributions in medical studies","volume":"15 3 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83021689","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Aim of the research: To identify significant fall risk factors in patients with neurological disease, who fell during hospitalization. Material and methods: Forty adult inpatients were included in a retrospective quantitative cross-sectional study, who fell in the neurological department in the period 01/2014–01/2020. The research protocol contains selected fall risk factors, the Morse Fall Scale (MFS), and the Barthel ADL Index. The Random Forest method was used to identify significant fall risk fac- tors. ROC with AUC was used to assess the predictive value of fall risk factors. Results: The mean age of the sample was 70.50 ±15.20 years. The most common fall risk factors in the sample included the following: gait, balance and mobility disorders, polymorbidity ≥ 5 medical diagnoses, and polypharmacotherapy ≥ 5 drug classes.
