This collaborative study, carried out by researchers from different countries, took shape in response to the COVID-19 health crisis. It aims to understand how psychoanalysts and psychotherapists have had to adapt their practices in the face of these crises, highlighting the importance of improvisation and creativity in maintaining the continuity of the therapeutic process.</p></div><div><h3>Objectives</h3><p>The principal objective of the study is to identify the impact of shared external realities on the therapeutic process, highlighting the challenges faced by practitioners in a context of multiple crises. The researchers also seek to explore how psychoanalysts and psychotherapists have had to call into question and adapt their practices and frameworks in order to continue working with their patients in an environment marked by uncertainty and the need to improvise.</p></div><div><h3>Methodology</h3><p>The research is based on qualitative interviews with psychoanalysts and psychotherapists from different countries facing various crises. The researchers analyzed the participants’ responses to identify emerging themes and understand how practitioners navigated these challenges, highlighting coping strategies and adjustments to the therapeutic framework.</p></div><div><h3>Results</h3><p>The findings confirm the profound impact of external crises on therapeutic practice, particularly in terms of challenging practitioners’ professional identities and the need to adapt therapeutic frameworks to maintain the continuity of the analytical process. Participants expressed a sense of insecurity, frustration and a loss of rituals associated with the move to working online. However, they also showed great creativity in designing their workplace and exploring new therapeutic approaches.</p></div><div><h3>Discussion and conclusion</h3><p>The discussion underlines the importance of recognizing and addressing the challenges posed by external crises in therapeutic practice, while also highlighting the crucial role of improvisation and creativity in maintaining the continuity of the analytical process. Practitioners must be prepared to rethink and adapt their therapeutic framework to meet the changing needs of their patients, while preserving the fundamental principles of therapy. The twenty-four albums are rich in psychological and psychiatric elements, intricately woven into a smartly written and complex storyline. These elements have, however, seldom been studied systematically from a psychiatric point of view. In the current paper, we propose a systematic review of the series and of the medical literature concerning the psychiatric semiology and phenomenology found in the work of Hergé. The search terms used in the Pubmed database were “Tintin”, “medicine”, “medical”, “health”, “mental”, and “psychiatry”. Upon reading the integrality of the twenty-four albums, the most recurrent themes found were delusions and psychosis, personality disorders, and alcohol and other psychoactive substance use disorders. We then conduct a chronological analysis of the evolution of the representations of asylums and psychiatric hospitals, psychiatrists and the “mad man” throughout the albums. In this interview with Jean-Pierre Bouchard, Alexandre Gauthier, Andréanne Lapierre, Tamsin Higgs, and Marina Sorochinski explore this new form of coercion by addressing its definition, scope, motivations, and characteristics of the perpetrators of such violence, the consequences of this form of violence on victims, as well as the legal aspects surrounding these acts. Psychological impact and mental health status were assessed, respectively, by the Impact of Event Scale-Revised (IES-R) and the Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale 21 (DASS21). The data were analyzed by Jamovi software, version 1.6.23. Logistic regression in univariate and multivariate analyses were used to determine statistically significant associations with a significance level of <em>P</em> <!-->&lt;<!--> <!-->0.05.</p></div><div><h3>Results</h3><p>We enrolled 447 respondents with 19% reporting a moderate to severe psychological impact of the outbreak. Respectively 13.4%, 5.1% and 15.2% had moderate to extremely severe symptoms of depression, anxiety and stress. Statistically significant associations with higher odds of severe levels of psychological impact of the event, depression, anxiety, and stress were represented by five characteristics: Living in Dakar, no formal education, a personal medical chronic disease, a close family member with a chronic medical disease and poor to very poor self-reported health status.</p></div><div><h3>Conclusion</h3><p>This study determined the prevalence of post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety, and stress in the Senegalese general population during the COVID19 pandemic. Our study assessed the prevalence of post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety, and stress in the general population of Senegal during the COVID pandemic19. It confirms that the pandemic has truly an impact on the mental health of the Senegalese population. {"title":"Les conséquences psychologiques du COVID long. Effet des incertitudes, des stratégies de coping, du soutien social et de la qualité de vie sur la dépression","authors":"Sandrine Levent-Krauskopff,&nbsp;Myriam Guedj","doi":"10.1016/j.amp.2023.05.001","DOIUrl":"10.1016/j.amp.2023.05.001","url":null,"abstract":"&lt;div&gt;&lt;h3&gt;Objectives&lt;/h3&gt;&lt;p&gt;Many people were infected by COVID-19 and for a minority of them, symptoms persisted beyond twenty days. These symptoms are multi-systemic, fluctuating, and impact the quality of life. Long COVID was first defined by patients themselves in the spring of 2020 to describe their recovery problems. Specifically, long COVID is defined as “a constellation of physical and mental symptoms which can persist or emerge afterwards, generating a multi-systemic and disabling syndrome, which varies from patient to patient and fluctuates over time”. The persistence of COVID symptoms, the decrease in the quality of life, the uncertainly about the future sometimes accompanied by a low level of social support perceived in the medical and personal entourage may have triggered the occurrence of a depressive disorder in patients with long COVID. The objective of this research was to study the effect of long COVID symptoms, of uncertainty and the impairment of quality of life on the development of depressive symptoms, while identifying the impact of moderating variables such as coping strategies and social support.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;h3&gt;Materials and methods&lt;/h3&gt;&lt;p&gt;Two hundred and fourteen participants with long COVID (aged 18–68, M&lt;!--&gt; &lt;!--&gt;=&lt;!--&gt; &lt;!--&gt;44, SD&lt;!--&gt; &lt;!--&gt;=&lt;!--&gt; &lt;!--&gt;11), including 93 % females (&lt;em&gt;n&lt;/em&gt; &lt;!--&gt;=&lt;!--&gt; &lt;!--&gt;200) and 7% males (&lt;em&gt;n&lt;/em&gt; &lt;!--&gt;=&lt;!--&gt; &lt;!--&gt;14), participated in this cross-sectional quantitative study between the months of April and June 2022. They described their symptoms and responded to five scales: the Evaluation of Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale (EII), the Coping Strategies Checklist (WCC), the Medical Outcome Study Short Form 36-item health survey (MOS SF-36), the Perceived Social Support Questionnaire (QSSP), and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS).&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;h3&gt;Results&lt;/h3&gt;&lt;p&gt;91% of the participants reported symptoms of fatigue (&lt;em&gt;n&lt;/em&gt; &lt;!--&gt;=&lt;!--&gt; &lt;!--&gt;171), 52% a loss of concentration (&lt;em&gt;n&lt;/em&gt; &lt;!--&gt;=&lt;!--&gt; &lt;!--&gt;111), 51% pain (&lt;em&gt;n&lt;/em&gt; &lt;!--&gt;=&lt;!--&gt; &lt;!--&gt;110), 49 % trouble sleeping (&lt;em&gt;n&lt;/em&gt; &lt;!--&gt;=&lt;!--&gt; &lt;!--&gt;104), and 41% memory problems (&lt;em&gt;n&lt;/em&gt; &lt;!--&gt;=&lt;!--&gt; &lt;!--&gt;88). Compared with the general population, they presented a poorer quality of life, as well as high scores for anxiety, depression, and intolerance of uncertainty. Scores on coping strategies were also higher than the norms for the general population, and scores on satisfaction with social support were generally good. It was also found that the variables of intolerance of uncertainty, quality of life, and depression all correlated with each other. Furthermore, the regression analysis revealed predictors of depression. Among their works, we will focus on <em>The Brothers Karamazov</em>, a work that summarizes all the questions of its author, and on the evolution of Bergman's paintings. They each appeal to an instinctual desire to create a library of memories, written for one, painted for the other. What underpins this instinctual desire? We hypothesize that this is the form that their pleasure takes. This enjoyment is developed differently in their work, circumscribed in a character for Dostoyevsky, diffused in Bergman's paintings. It appears gendered in the product of their creation but not in their creative process. Its aim is to identify and assess developmental or mental disorders, organize care for these children and work in partnership with all the teams caring for these youngsters (Child Welfare Agency, Maternal and Child Protection, Centre médico-psychologique/Centre médico-psycho pédagogique). Intervention takes place across a geographical area corresponding to the intersectors of the two hospitals that created the team (AP–HM and CHS Valvert), i.e. the south and east of Marseille, La Ciotat, Aubagne and Cassis. This territory was defined to be coherent and to enable more effective interventions. In this work, we present the implementation and initial results of an innovative system, namely a mobile team working as close as possible to the living environment and ecosystem of children entrusted to the child welfare system. We will also illustrate our remarks with two clinical cases of children cared for by our unit. Caring for these children involves a real investment on the part of the professional and a major partnership effort. Patients who met all of the following criteria were included: aged 18 and over; having a diagnosis of COVID-19 by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and/or by CT scan; monitored at the COVID-19 unit and who their clinical conditions did not require intensive care; survivors after 3<!--> <!-->months of discharge; and having given their informed and informal consent to participate in the study.</p></div><div><h3>Results</h3><p>Our study included 154 patients. The prevalence of anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder was 24.7%, 11% and 13.6% respectively. We found an association between depression and female gender (<em>P</em> <!-->=<!--> <!-->0.025), gastrointestinal involvement (<em>P</em> <!-->=<!--> <!-->0.002) and stigma (<em>P</em> <!-->=<!--> <!-->0.002). It focuses on the psychological effects of parental abandonment on foster children. The main objective is to contribute to the understanding of this phenomenon by proposing a psychological definition of parental abandonment.</p></div><div><h3>Methodology</h3><p>The methodology was based on a mixed quantitative and qualitative approach. Twenty-two subjects were interviewed. Two clinical groups were created. Group 1 involved children who no longer had an obvious relationship with their birth parents (<em>n</em> = 11). Group 2 consisted of children who had lost interest in their parents. (<em>n</em> = 11). The tools used were the Complete History Cards (CCH), a variation of the Adult Attachment Interview (AAI) with the Edicode, projective tests (a 5-item test, CAT, TAT, ESM, imaginary genogram) and semi-structured clinical research interviews.</p></div><div><h3>Results</h3><p>The results highlight the expression of psychic trauma and the manifestation of a disorganized attachment pattern. In terms of psychopathological processes, we observed the predominant expression of depressive equivalents and antidepressive struggles on a manic side, archaic anxieties and the primacy of primary processes with intense recourse to functional cleavage.
