Over 30 years 61 patients with a final histological diagnosis of carcinoid tumours were assessed for surgery. All patients were retrospectively reviewed for clinicopathological variables, surgical management and outcome. Tumours were considered typical and atypical based on histological features. The mean age at presentation was 46 years (range 11-69). Overall survival in the group of typical carcinoids was 96%, and 67% in the group of atypical carcinoids.
","PeriodicalId":79548,"journal":{"name":"Acta medica (Hradec Kralove). [The contractile, regulatory and structural proteins of myocardium]. [心肌收缩蛋白、调节蛋白和结构蛋白]。

{"title":"[The contractile, regulatory and structural proteins of myocardium].","authors":"Michaela Adamcová, Václav Pelouch","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"

The myocardium consists of three basic categories of proteins. The myofibrillar proteins trasform the chemical energy of ATP to the mechanical work of the heart. The metabolic proteins located both in the cytosol and in the mitochondrial compartments provide energy for the cardiac contraction. The interstitial space between myocytes is occupied by the extracellular proteins (collagens, glycoproteins, glycosaminoglycans, elastins). By far the greater percentage of myofibrillar proteins (about 80%) is that concerned with contraction (actin and myosin), with about 10% concerned with its regulation (troponin, tropomyosin and tropomodulin) and another 10% concerned with maintenance of the structure of myofibril (C, M-, H-proteins, myomesin, nebulette, alpha-actinin, titin, CapZ protein). Most collagenous and non-collagenous proteins exist in many isoforms that originate from the same genom but are the product of alternative splicing of a primary RNA transcript.
","PeriodicalId":79548,"journal":{"name":"Acta medica (Hradec Kralove). The collection of 647 adult skulls of both sexes and 98 child and adolescent skulls from the \"Broumov Ossuary\" (13th - 18th century) was examined for the presence of the bone syphilis lesions. For this purpose we have adopted a method that enables measuring of parameters of protein and amino acid metabolism in isolated m. soleus and m. extensor digitorum longus of the rat. The rate of tyrosine release was used to estimate protein breakdown. The oxidation of leucine was evaluated by the rate of 14CO2 production from [1-14C]leucine. Incorporation of [1-14C]leucine into muscle proteins was used to estimate protein synthesis. The metabolic state of the muscles was evaluated by measuring changes in ATP, ADP, AMP levels, and calculated energy charge.
","PeriodicalId":79548,"journal":{"name":"Acta medica (Hradec Kralove). Interventional treatment of significant carotid artery occlusive disease should be performed by the method that provides the least periprocedural risk and best durability while providing long-term freedom from stroke. The aim of this study was to analyzed the group of 108 patients following 130 carotid endarterectomies from the point of view of risk and clinical importance of restenosis and occlusion, and probability of recurrent ischemic stroke. Carotid endarterectomy represents an efficacious stroke-preventing strategy for acceptable risk of restenosis of a small clinical importance and low risk of subsequent ipsilateral ischemic stroke.
","PeriodicalId":79548,"journal":{"name":"Acta medica (Hradec Kralove). This study was realized 20 months latter again -- 16 patients from 82 were running in dialysis, 17 patients were transplanted and 49 patients died (non of this viruses was cause of their death). HGV(GBV-C) RNA was detected in serum of 22 patients, 20 months latter it was detected in serum of 3 patients; one positive was new. 20 months latter any HGV(GBV-C) RNA was not detected in serum of 4 originally positive patients. Three of ten HBsAg positive patients were coinfected by HGV(GBV-C) RNA; 20 months latter any coinfection was found. In the first we found HGV(GBV-C) RNA in serum of 5 anti-HCV positive patients and in serum of 1 HCV RNA positive patient; 20 months latter it was in serum of 1 and 1 respectively. Elevation of ALT and AST levels were found in serum of 3 from 82 patients; two patients were coinfected with HBV or HCV. Any from 2 running dialysis patients with elevation of ALT and AST levels was not HGV(GBV-C) RNA positive. This virus is not probably frequent cause of liver disease in dialysis patients and it is not necessary to routinely screen for HGV(GBV-C) infection in this group of patients.
","PeriodicalId":79548,"journal":{"name":"Acta medica (Hradec Kralove).
