This distinctive characteristic of the Intermediolateral Nucleus may play a crucial role in counter-entropic and cellular energy regulation. The Reticular Formation, extending from the brainstem to the start of the cervical spinal cord, is vital for the regulation of heart rate, breathing, and cognitive functions, facilitating continuous chemical interaction throughout the body and being pivotal for energy regulation. The Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal Axis, as the primary response mechanism to cellular challenges, holds a central role in energy regulation, countering entropic processes, and supporting vital bioenergetic complexities for survival. The intimate collaboration between the Reticular Formation, the Intermediolateral Nucleus, and the Hypothalamic-PituitaryAdrenal Axis is essential for the continuous process of adjustments and readaptations, enabling the organism to respond and adapt to constant changes in both internal and external environments. This study deepens our understanding of homeostasis and the synergistic interaction between these structures in the vital process of maintaining homeostasis and energy regulation.","PeriodicalId":78321,"journal":{"name":"International journal of psychiatry","volume":"16 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134905660","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on evidence gathered from past research, four hypotheses were formed which were tested by four different standardized tests along with Dyadic Parent-Interaction Coding System (DPICS). The research is based on a randomized experimental design checking the pre-post efficacy of the treatment. Out of all of the hypotheses, two showed statistical significance, which showed the impact of Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) on the disruptive behaviour of children with Down syndrome and the caregiver skills of their parents. However, it showed statistical significance in the subscales of autonomy and empathy in the social skills of Down syndrome and showed no statistical significance on parental stress.","PeriodicalId":78321,"journal":{"name":"International journal of psychiatry","volume":"10 7","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135168151","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, there is no consensus in the scientific literature in everything pertaining to the degree of causality of this contribution to expressive skills among this population. The aim of the present study was to test the effect of viewing movies in literary Arabic on the oral skills of kindergartners whose mother tongue is Arabic. The research design was quantitativeexperimental. The research included 70 kindergarten-age children who were sampled from two kindergartens in the Arab society in the north of Israel, using a convenience sample. The children were aged 5-6 years. Of these, 35 (50%) are boys and 35 (50%) are girls. The research instruments included early literacy tests: morphological awareness, phonological awareness, vocabulary. Oral language skills were tested by a language test after viewing each of the movies. The findings indicate that the research hypothesis, according to which a positive effect of viewing movies in literary Arabic on their oral skills will be found, was supported. Thus, viewing movies in literary Arabic significantly improved kindergartners’ oral skills.","PeriodicalId":78321,"journal":{"name":"International journal of psychiatry","volume":"89 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135085481","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It first outlines a narrative underlying the assumption that fostering human stage like development is pivotal for the future of humanity. Following this introductory section Development as Transcendental Pluralism is presented, a novel stage theory and assessment methodology for growth in hierarchical complexity and consciousness that served as main instrument to test the hypothesis that the PraxisAletheia curriculum structured around the work of Dr. Michael Cotton – Source Code Meditation and the 9 Summits of Transformation – promotes growth into later stages of human development. After critically reviewing one of the most widely used tools to measure stage development, the Sentence Completion Test, it presents strong evidence for growth in students at the New Human University. The growth patterns are then compared to other transformational learning programs to underline both that the increase in structure-stage development is profound given that we deal with adult population however, still realistic.","PeriodicalId":78321,"journal":{"name":"International journal of psychiatry","volume":"44 10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135084968","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: The results of the study are based on a purposive sample of 105 COPD patients (94 male, 11 female) with an average age of 68.9 (SD = 9.2). The participants completed the 8-Item Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS-8) and the 36-item Short Form health survey (SF-36) from which their medication-taking behavior and their mental health was evaluated. Further, they were asked to complete a sociodemographic questionnaire including self-evaluation items about their current financial situation and the impact of the economic crisis on family, health, and treatment. A path analysis approach was used to test the indirect effect of family size on medication adherence and the moderating role of impact and mortgage debt, controlling for age, duration of COPD illness, and income of the respondents. Results: Financial health, as is reflected in the monthly income and an obligation to repay a mortgage debt was found to be positively associated with medication adherence. The impact of the financial crisis was significantly associated with mental health for the patients that experienced parenthood in families with 2 or more children. Not an analogous effect was reported for patients having been parents of one child or no children. That is, the family size effect on mental health is moderated by the impact of the financial crisis. No significant effect on mental health was reported on medication adherence. Further, neither age nor illness duration was found to have a significant effect on both mental health and adherence. Conclusions: Financial health is confirmed to be positively related to medication adherence. The hypothesized mediating role of mental health in the relation between family size and adherence is not confirmed. Having been a parent of a large family is associated with a greater vulnerability to the effects of financial strain on mental health in the long run.","PeriodicalId":78321,"journal":{"name":"International journal of psychiatry","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135924353","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Meanwhile many on the autism spectrum slipped through the diagnostic cracks and were missed for decades as autism diagnosis rates continue to rise. Many adults on the autism spectrum who are not diagnosed or identified are showing up in marriage therapy with their spouse with complex marital dynamics and unresolved issues producing confusion in the person, their spouse and even many marriage therapists or pastoral counselors. This type of couple where at least one spouse is on the autism spectrum is now referred to as a Neurodiverse Couple (NDC). Further marginalized in research are people of faith who are in a neurodiverse relationship, referred to as Neurodiverse Christian Couples (NDCC), and pastors, chaplains, marriage coaches and Christian and Biblical counselors remain unaware, unequipped, and unprepared to help these couples with their complex relationships which is adding to the challenges of trauma the couple is experiencing.","PeriodicalId":78321,"journal":{"name":"International journal of psychiatry","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135924352","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although the precise number of the mentally impaired persons is not well documented more especially in developing countries, what is indisputable is they are in millions and is negatively impacting societies. Purpose The fundamental rationale for this study is to investigate into parents’ mental illness in the community and youths’ comprehension of its causes, negative impacts, support services needed by victims and their children; and its preventive methods with the ultimate objectives of sharing knowledge to spark and inspire processes that will usher rapid growth from all directions in the reduction of the phenomenon and its associated negative impacts. Methodology Hence the study was a descriptive survey meant to capture the youths’ perspectives on parents’ mental illness and its associated impacts especially on their children, questionnaires were administered to gauge the perspectives of hundred and twenty youths. Results The negative impacts of parents’ mental illness on their children are numerous and in addition to the general ones they include specific ones: social impacts, health impacts, psychological impacts, economic impacts; and educational impacts. To alleviate the impacts, access to medical treatment, basic needs, continuous prayers, counseling, financial assistance, regular visits from the helping profession, scholarships for children among other services are critical. To prevent the menace, general sensitization about mental impairment, sensitization on the use of illegal substance, counseling, helping single parents financially and morally; and the incorporation of mental health in the curriculum of secondary schools are some of the fundamental approaches. Conclusion In conclusion, the negative impacts of parents’ mental illness on their children can be simply pooled and catalogued into medical, social, psychological, educational; and economical.","PeriodicalId":78321,"journal":{"name":"International journal of psychiatry","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136099911","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Despite decades of research, no approved pharmacotherapy is available for methamphetamine (METH) use disorder, and behavioral therapies are faced with a great lack of long-term recovery and a high rate of relapse. Opium tincture is air-dried Papaver somniferum latex, formulated for oral administration. The present study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the new protocol for taper up-off method of opium tincture used for treatment of methamphetamine addiction in Iran, for more than 10 years. In the present study, the effectiveness of the Opium tincture taper-up-off treatment method for methamphetamine dependence called “Dezhakam step time (DST) for methamphetamine” was assessed. We used data collected via the “Congress 60” a nongovernmental organization in Iran, dedicated to addiction treatment with the DST method, from Jan 2018 until December 2020. We evaluated the treatment safety, success, and relapse rate in methamphetamine dependents treated in the “Congress 60” organization with the DST for methamphetamine method. All subjects were tested using Urine drug monitoring for both opioid and methamphetamine use after the treatment period and during the next two years as a follow-up. Findings revealed 89 percent of successful treatments for methamphetamine dependence and only 11 percent of substance abuse relapses in two years follow up. Also, less than one percent of the subjects that finished the treatment program abused opioids in two years follow up. Findings suggest the safety and effectiveness of the Opium tincture taper-up-off method in the treatment of methamphetamine dependence. The findings of the study may help to a better understanding of a safe potential novel method for methamphetamine dependence treatment and its effects on psychological dependence on psychostimulants.","PeriodicalId":78321,"journal":{"name":"International journal of psychiatry","volume":"41 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139355877","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
