It is consisted of two free plates connected by added joint (similar to connection in the TMJ) Plates have lateral bite blocks, anchorage elements in the frontal region and a joint at the back. Joints are originally created by the author as an imitation of TMJ and mandibular ramus. The appliance converts muscle strength in the way of extruding frontal teeth, intruding molars, and rotating the upper and lower jaw. Finally, mioconverter reduces vertical skeletal discrepancy. The leaning plate is under the occlusal level. Therefore, mioconverter utilizes all types of forces used in the lower jaw movements. Results of treatment of a case with an open bite are illustrated.
","PeriodicalId":77497,"journal":{"name":"Bilten Udruzenja ortodonata Jugoslavije = Bulletin of Orthodontic Society of Yugoslavia","volume":"24 1","pages":"37-42"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1991-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"12980554","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hence, an increasing number of roentgen-cephalometric analyses is now based on computerized data processing. The objective of this paper was to cast light on various aspects of computerized latero-lateral teleroentgenographic analysis by presenting recent literature data pertaining to this subject. The following conclusions have been reached: despite the fact that the number of data processed is very large, the time of processing is ten times shorter compared to conventional data processing; most analytical errors refer to the location of roentgen-cephalometric points; elaboration of orthodontic treatment on the basis of computerized growth prognosis is not recommended; despite its systemic limitations, there are numerous arguments in favor of the routine use of computerized roentgeno-cephalometric analysis.
","PeriodicalId":77497,"journal":{"name":"Bilten Udruzenja ortodonata Jugoslavije = Bulletin of Orthodontic Society of Yugoslavia","volume":"24 1","pages":"43-54"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1991-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"12980555","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The results obtained independently from each other show a high degree of correspondence. Because of its easy handling the method of quasi-planimetry was further developed and used for direct analysis of enorally obtained wafers of different characteristics. The total surface of occlusal contacts in the static occlusion ran up to 4-6 mm2, and the number of stops to 19-30. The method of qualitative and quantitative analysis of occlusal parameters is improved with a modern system of digital analysis. {"title":"[Dynamics of changes of anteroposterior jaw positions relative to the cranial base during the second trimester of normal intrauterine growth].","authors":"L J Erdoglija","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"

The aim of this investigation was to estimate dynamics of changes of maxillary (SNAns) and mandibular (SNMe) prognathism relative of the cranial base from 14th to 24th week of normal intrauterine growth. Investigation was performed on lateral cephalometric radiographs of 50 fetuses, both sexes, derived from artificial abortions in advanced uncomplicated pregnancies, due to social indication. Estimation of gestational ages was made according to contemporary ultrasonic standards of the normal fetal growth. The results obtained from this study showed that enlargement of the SNAns angle was relatively more rapid and regular (2.806 degrees +/- 0.483 degrees per week). The average change of this angle was from 61.047 degrees (in 14th week) to 89.107 degrees (in 24th week), with total change of 28.060 degrees during the period investigated. On the other hand, enlargement of the SNMe angle was, relatively, moderate an variably of 1.678 degrees +/- 0.597 degrees per week. Changes of this angle were ranged, in average from 46.295 degrees (in 14th week) to 63.074 degrees (in 24th week), with the total change of the 16.780 degrees during the same period. Rhythm of enlargement of SNAns angle was 76.222% more rapid than in SNMe angle (p less than 0.05). However, individual variability of SNMe angle enlargement was 23.602% higher compared with SNAns angle (p greater than 0.05). The author concluded that changes of anteroposterior position of the upper jaw relative to the cranial base ranged from marked retrognathism to mild prognathism. During the period investigated, changes of anteroposterior position of the lower jaw relative to the cranial base ranged from marked to moderate retrognathism.
","PeriodicalId":77497,"journal":{"name":"Bilten Udruzenja ortodonata Jugoslavije = Bulletin of Orthodontic Society of Yugoslavia","volume":"23 2","pages":"59-68"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1990-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"13251782","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It was analyzed sagittal position of upper and lower jaws in relation to the cranial base. The sample consisted of 45 patients of both sexes, aged between 7 and 14 years. Antero-posterior position of maxilla and mandible in relation to the cranial base was assessed from tracings of lateral cephalometric radiographs of angles SNA and SNB and inter-jaw relationship from tracings of angle ANB by the Steiner's method. The angles of maxillary and mandibular inclination were measured by the Schwarz's method. Mean values were determined, as well as skeletal variations and their distribution together with combination of maxillary and mandibular inclination and their percentage of occurrence in our sample. Five different variations of skeletal type were identified: combination of maxillary and mandibular retrognatism was predominant (68.89% of cases); maxillary prognatism combined with mandibular retrognatism followed with 13.33% of cases; combined prognatism of both jaws was found in 6.67% of cases, and so was orthognathism of upper jaw with retrognathism of mandible, while maxillary prognathism with mandibular orthognathism was recorded in 4.44% of cases. The analysis of jaw inclination shows the greatest percentage of maxillary anteinclination and mandibular retroinclination (46.67%); 33.33% of children had retroinclination of both jaws; 13.33% of cases had normoinclination of maxilla and retroinclination of mandible; in 3 cases other rare combinations were found. Standard anthropological instruments were used. The following dimensions were examined: the stature, Eu-Eu, G-Op, Zy-Zy, Go-Go, N-Gn and N-Pr. The results are represented in 2 tables and 3 histograms. The result indicate the largest variability of N-Pr and the smallest variability of Zy-Zy within the MZ twins while within the DZ twin pairs it is revers, which suggests that the bizygomatic width is more genetically dependent than the upper height of the face. No statistically significant differences occur within the MZ pairs, except for the stature. On the other hand, within DZ pairs the differences are statistically significant (except for G-Op). The intracorrelations are greater for all the MZ variables. The heredity and cultural inheritance index show higher value of c2 for all variables, which suggests a higher influence of the environmental than that of the genetic factors (h2). A hypothesis would be that the shape of the head and the upper facial height are easily influenced than the Zy-Zy and the morphological face height.
","PeriodicalId":77497,"journal":{"name":"Bilten Udruzenja ortodonata Jugoslavije = Bulletin of Orthodontic Society of Yugoslavia","volume":"23 2","pages":"69-73"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1990-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"13251783","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
