The present study was to assess effectiveness of mind mapping technique vs lecture method regarding psychological test on knowledge among nursing students at St. James College of Nursing Chalakudy. The study included 50 first year B.Sc. nursing students, 25 in lecture group and 25 in mind mapping group. \u0000Materials and methods: A Quasi-experimental non randomized control group design was adopted and nonprobability convenient sampling technique was used to select the samples. Structured teaching programme regarding psychological test was administered on both group and knowledge level of the students was evaluated immediately after the teaching (‘0 day’) and 7th day to assess the retention of knowledge. Data collected by using structured questionnaire and analysed by using descriptive and inferential statistics. \u0000Results:The study revealed that the mean post test knowledge score of students on ’0’day in mind mapping group is (13.52) higher than the lecture group (9). The calculated t value (7.66) is higher than the table value (6.06) at 0.05 level of significance. The mean of the post test knowledge of students on 7th day by using mind map score is 13.32, it is higher than mean of the lecture method knowledge score (8.80). The calculated t value is (7.92) is greater than the table value (2.60) at 0.05 level of significance. \u0000Conclusion: There for it can be concluded that the mind mapping teaching method is very effective than lecture method among the nursing student on psychological test. The study shows that mind mapping technique help the student to learn, recall, organize and make information meaningful. So they can perform and get good result in examination by using mind mapping technique.

Swine are valuable animals and they are physiologically, immunologically and anatomically similar to humans and their organ can be transplanted to the humans. Due to modernization, the cultural food restriction has lost in the people of urban communities and among the younger generations in Nepal. Gradually changing feeding habit of Nepalese has proven pork to be a useful addition to the food menu. Not only 8.7 lakhs swine in Nepal but the global pig population which occupy 769.05 million are suffering every day from new challenges and threats from very harmful pathogens and diseases like swine dysentery, coccidiosis, swine influenza, etc. Swine influenza is highly contagious rapidly spreading zoonotic viral disease of pigs characterized by febrile respiratory disease often complicated with secondary bacterial infections. Vaccines are only tool for prophylactic measures. There is big challenge for vaccine researchers, manufacturers and scientists for development of effective vaccine regarding swine influenza. Currently available flu vaccines are capable of homologous protection of virus but fail to induce cross protection against frequently evolving heterologous viruses. In this review, we discuss the status of novel nanoparticle-based approach of swine influenza virus vaccine development contributed significantly by Nepalese scientist and the future directions to control this economically important swine disease.

Exposure to allergens, air pollutants, tobacco smoke, cold air, viral infection, and family history, are the few major causative factors for asthma. An eleven years old boy from Kedah, Malaysia, had the first asthmatic attack at the age of eight. Possible causes behind the development of his asthmatic attack include passive smoking, environment pollutant created by open residential burning of rubbish practiced by his family members, repeated exposure to allergens such as pollen, house dust mite, animal dander, and eczema. The patient has been treated with inhaled salbutamol BP (100μg/day), oral montelukast Na (5 mg/day) and mometasone furoate (55mcg. once daily). In conclusion, episodes of asthmatic attacks were mainly correlated with passive smoking & burning garbages. Comprehensive approaches such as health education, avoidance of the allergen, cleaning, and maintaining these practices can prevent the development of this morbid illness.
