Treatment with hypertonic glucose and prostigmine did not yield any beneficial results, while a subsequent treatment with hematine (4 mg/kg/day for a period of four days) produced a dramatic improvement in the clinical picture and in ALA and PGB levels. A back-to-normal shift of plasma and urinary electrolytes was also observed. {"title":"[Study of TRH in the postganglionic sypnasis of the isolated human vas deferens].","authors":"J L Alloza Gascón, J L Batalla Cadira, J A Salvá Miquel","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><p>Cummulative dose-response curves to l-noradrenaline and in presence of different concentrations of TRH (10(-3), 10(-4), 10(-5), 10(-6), 10(-7), and 10(-8) M) were investigated. 25 segments of vas deferens (escrotal tract) were obtained from different surgical patients of urological disorders. At the lower concentration (greater than 10(-7) M), we can not appreciate any influence of TRH on the l-noradrenaline response. There was a significant rise in total serum calcium (Ca), that was closely related to changes in serum proteins level, and a very significant decrease in serum phosphorous (P). Simultaseously, another group of 20 patients (16 females and 4 males) aged 16-55 years with a minim overweight of 15% above ideal body weight were given placebo treatment. In chronic adrenectomized state, total lipids and hepatic triglycerides are diminished, particularly the triglycerides. Adrenectomy does not appear to have significative effect on the free fatty acids. In the 349 cases studied, a good correlation was found between the previous diagnosis--made by means of 131I uptake test--and the clinics and symptomatology, and very particularly, the in vitro ETR test.
