There were 106 undescended testes, of them 54 were not determined by palpation. All the patients were operated upon. Sonographic imaging of the intra-abdominal testis was obtained in 3 cases only. Coincidence of intraoperative findings with the results of sonographic investigation in patients with inguinal cryptorchidism were observed in 68%. The main cause of diagnostic divergence was marked hypoplasia and low elasticity of the retained testis. A characteristic feature was echo-negative imaging of the testis in children, and in patients over 15--echo-positive imaging. This difference in types of the echographic picture is considered to be a result of changes, developing in testes depending on a period of retention. This method supplements clinical findings with information or the testicular state.</p>","PeriodicalId":76145,"journal":{"name":"Meditsinskaia radiologiia","volume":"36 4","pages":"22-3"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1991-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"12839411","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

During the investigation 16 patients who had undergone radical operation with any signs of recurrence and 36 patients with suspected tumor recurrence, scintigraphic false-positive results were observed in 12.5 and 30.6% patients, and a false-positive increase in the CEA titer was observed in 12.5 and 11.1%. Of 11 patients with false-positive scintigraphic results a rise of the CEA level was noted in 2 cases making it possible to rule out with a great degree of assurance the presence of a recurrent tumor. At the time of investigation a dose of 137Ce for Mladensk was 3.7 ci/km2, that for Ogor--1.17 ci/km2. Lymphocyte cultivation was performed after the standard semimicromethod for 50 hours; about 155-300 cells were analyzed for chromosome aberrations of each individual, the total number of metaphase plates in 2 groups being 9360. One-factor dispersion analysis has shown that the rate of exchanges of a chromosome type, specific for radiation, was higher in the workers of the village of Mladensk than in the workers of Ogor (p less than 0.05). Thus statistically significant differences in the rate of metabolic aberrations of a chromosome type were revealed in the two study groups with different radiation backgrounds. A high sensitivity of cytogenetic analysis for population biological indication of irradiation was shown.</p>","PeriodicalId":76145,"journal":{"name":"Meditsinskaia radiologiia","volume":"36 7","pages":"50-2"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1991-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"12994305","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
