Reconciling these aims becomes then an essential question. OBJECTIVES: To have a better understanding of the day-to-day professional role and to make an analytical link with the international literature in the area. METHODOLOGY: A four hours’ workshop aimed to professionals involved in the medicine course, despite not all of them being medicine doctors. It was then formally asked the participants about their personal motivation for teaching, and also about experienced difficulties and adopted strategies to overcome them. RESULTS: 21 teachers participated. The detected work motivations were: 1: Personal identification; 2: A sense of renovation. Despite this, difficulties could be identified: 1: How to adequately balance professional and personal life; 2: Difficulties related to generational characteristics and 3: Personal monetary rewarding. In what refers to adopted strategies, it was possible to identify: 1: A better use of available work time; 2: Personal revival; 3: Sense of humour; 4: Learning processes of new technologies and 4: Sharing process in trying for problems solution. DISCUSSION: It was established a space for reflection and thinking on the meaning of being a health professional and academic. It were considered, among other questions, the relationship between teaching activities and the continuous transformation inherent to the teaching process. As a result, this lead to a different way of looking and attitudes in what refers to the health professional and also teaching. CONCLUSIONS: The present experience has shown how fundamental is to create opportunities for reflection about the teaching role and its identity constructed on the day-to-day work and also the institutional commitment in promoting such attitudes.","PeriodicalId":75938,"journal":{"name":"International journal of health education","volume":"88 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82738692","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

OBJECTIVE: To discuss the involvement of several social actors in the collective construction of Situational Strategic Planning in a curricular component of health graduation courses and to highlight potential benefits of this process. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The students had theoretical basis about the Unified Health System, Health Promotion, Epidemiology, Health Planning and Popular Education during the three semesters of the above mentioned curricular component. In the second semester, a situational diagnosis was made of a group of elderly people of USF. Based on this diagnosis, in the third semester, along with the USF team, teachers and the elderly from the group, Situational Strategic Planning (PES), according to Carlos Matus, of community interventions based on Popular Health Education was carried out. RESULTS: The PES, with the participation of all the actors, made possible the horizontality of the relations during the process, from the planning to the execution of the activities. Five community interventions were carried out with the elderly, with subsequent evaluation and monitoring. CONCLUSION: The results point to the potential role of this integrative practice and the importance of experiencing SUS since the beginning of the academic course.","PeriodicalId":75938,"journal":{"name":"International journal of health education","volume":"73 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77315827","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aimed to trace a teaching profile of Cellular Biology and Histology in the Medical courses which had participants in the selection process to fill vacancies by transfer, for the undergraduate course in the Medical School of São José do Rio Preto (FAMERP) in 2017. This was a quantitative and qualitative cross-sectional study and 132 academics participated. The results showed that, in most Higher Education Institutions, these disciplines are taught theoretically and practically. In the comparison between the theoretical performance of the students of traditional and active teaching-learning methodology, a higher number of hits in Histology and a better final grade were observed in the traditional. The deficiency pointed out by the students was a lack of laboratory sessions with viewing histological glass slides with light microscopes. Also, the aspect of teachers’ pedagogical practice and dynamic classes was shown to be fundamental to the students' interest, as well as to better satisfaction’s index in learning these areas. Furthermore, integrating these disciplines with the clinical practice of Medicine has proved to be relevant for academics, who feel more instigated to knowledge. In the present study, it was detected a better use in relation to the Histology by the students of the courses of traditional methodology, compared to those of active methodology and in this way the analysis done can to collaborate for the enrichment and reaffirmation of the fruits of the comparison of teaching-learning methodologies.","PeriodicalId":75938,"journal":{"name":"International journal of health education","volume":"25 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85289206","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Summary of work: Three teachers prepared a workshop to discuss care and multiprofessional work in health, using the psychodrama framework. Summary of results: 14 students participated. They expressed their feelings and performed scenes based on movie clips that were showed to them. One of these scenes was remade after discussion. They were positively surprised with the workshop. Our results showed that the principal feeling that emerged was Empathy, and they were touched by the lack of humanity when we do our work mechanically. Common liver disorders in pregnancy are intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy, HELLP syndrome (haemolysis, elevated liver enzymes and low platelets), and acute fatty liver of pregnancy. The commonest cause of jaundice in pregnancy is acute viral hepatitis, which can result from primary infections with hepatitis viruses A to E or as part of a systemic infection with viruses such as cytomegalovirus, Epstein–Barr virus, vari-cella zoster virus and herpes simplex virus (HSV). 1 Except when caused by hepatitis E virus or HSV, viral hepatitis does not usually increase maternal or fetal mortality. 2 Hepatitis due to HSV infection is a rare but frequently fulminant disease. Most reports have been in immunocom-promised patients 3 or newborns. 4 Fulminant HSV hepatitis has been reported in immunocompetent adults, 5-7 mostly pregnant women. 8-10 Two per cent of susceptible women acquire HSV infection during pregnancy, and seroconver-sion can be asymptomatic. 6 Fulminant hepatic failure from herpes simplex in pregnancy Clinical Record A 30-year-old woman in the 30th week of pregnancy was admitted with a two-day history of fever, malaise, dysuria, frequent micturition and mild lower abdominal pain. Slight lower abdominal tenderness was the only clinical abnormality. Results of urine microscopy were white blood cell (WBC) count, 33 ϫ 10 6 /L (normal range, 0–10); red blood cell count, 15 ϫ 10 6 /L (normal range, 0–12); epithelial cell count, 21 ϫ 10 6 / L (normal range, 0–5); and culture was sterile. Full blood count revealed haemoglobin, 113 g/L (normal range, 100– 180); WBC count, 11.6 ϫ 10 9 /L (normal range, 5–18); platelet count, 215 ϫ 10 9 /L (normal range, 150–450); and lymphocyte count, 0.23 ϫ 10 9 /L (normal range, 2–8). Liver function tests were mildly abnormal at presentation (Table). The patient was treated with empirical ampicillin and gentamicin, with resolution of her symptoms. However, her liver function tests worsened. Leptospiral serology was negative and blood cultures were sterile. Hepatitis A, B and C, flavivirus, Ross River virus, cytomegalovirus, Epstein–Barr virus, HIV, parvovirus and toxoplasmosis were all excluded. The literature shows that the multiprofessional team responsible for managing tuberculosis is not able to dealing with re-emergence of the disease, in addition acting in non-integral and humanized way. Objective: To check if university students that will be inserted in primary care are able to identify and manage patients with tuberculosis. Methods and materials: Semi-structured questionnaires were applied to students of the last periods of health courses. Data were analyzed through descriptive statistics. Results: Most of the interviewees said they have already had contact with the topic tuberculosis during graduation. Regarding the manifestations, 65 (38.24%) considered cough, weight loss, fever, loss of appetite, nocturnal sweating and weakness as the main symptoms of pulmonary tuberculosis. In contrast, 97 (57.06%) considered the presence of hemoptoic sputum as the main manifestation. The minority of the interviewees knew how to correctly define a respiratory symptomatic subject. Conclusion: Through the analysis of the results it is possible to notice that the university is the main source of knowledge of the university students about tuberculosis. One had identified gaps to be filled, as in relation to the manifestations of the disease, the difficulty in identifying a respiratory symptomatic subject, the lack of knowledge of the change in the vaccination schedule and mandatory rapid HIV testing. In addition, it is noticed that there is difficulty in the adequate management of the patients. In view of the results, there is a need to improve teaching in relation to tuberculosis.","PeriodicalId":75938,"journal":{"name":"International journal of health education","volume":"27 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81685956","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A systematic review was carried out to describe the scientific production on the prevalence and factors related with burnout syndrome in intensive care physicians, published in databases: IBECS, LILACS, MEDLINE, Psyc Info, PubMed and Scielo. Inclusion criteria were original studies, with transversal delimitation, that used the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) in intensive care physicians. The search identified 118 articles and of these, 09 articles were eligible. The second decade of the 2000s had the largest concentration of articles and five publications were held in Brazil, which may mean an increase in the national scientific production on the subject. The results of the studies that used as a diagnostic criterion the high level in at least one dimension of the syndrome, indicated a high prevalence of burnout. It was also observed a diversity of factors associated with the prevalence of burnout. It was found a heterogeneity of criteria for identifying the syndrome and ways of calculating and interpreting MBI results. It is suggested to standardize the criteria for identification of the syndrome, calculations and interpretation of MBI results.","PeriodicalId":75938,"journal":{"name":"International journal of health education","volume":"59 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77461468","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
