One personal case and 42 others from the literature fall within this definition. These neoplasms, small in size, are asymptomatic. The average age of the patients at the time of discovery of the lesion was 44 years. Two thirds of these carcinomas were lobular in type (29 cases), the others being invasive (7 cases) or non-invasive (7 cases) galactophoric carcinomas. Lobular carcinomas in situ (25 cases) involved, at the same time, one or more fibroadenomas and the remaining breast tissue in 60% of surgical specimens (15 cases). Independent of the operative technique used (local excision, wide excision or radical mastectomy), the course of a lobular carcinoma in situ in a fibroadenoma is, in general, simple.
","PeriodicalId":75498,"journal":{"name":"Annales d'anatomie pathologique","volume":"23 2","pages":"153-60"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1978-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"11898346","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Comparative study with cylindromas].","authors":"P Walter, M Prevôt, L Ludwig","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"

Basal cell adenomas, of which 7 cases are reported here together with 63 others collected in the literature, are benign tumours of the salivary glands, preferentially localised in the parotid and in the upper lip. Mobile, non-ulcerated and painless, these nodules with an average diameter of 2 cm are well circumscribed, fleshy or cystic. Their morphology is characterised by the proliferation of uniform, small cells, with scarcely visible cytoplasm, arranged in layers, cords and canals, which may be ectasic or cystic. Peripheral elements, individualising these different structures, are arranged in palissades and are regularly surrounded by a basal membrane. The histological analogies between basal cell adenomas and cylindromas merely reflect their ultrastructural similarities, cellular as well as architectural. These two neoplasms may be distinguished on the basis of two essential morphological criteria:--basal cell adenomas are well circumscribed, whilst cylindromas are invasive;--the cells in adenomas are closely juxtaposed, endowing the various structures of these tumours with a dense appearance, whilst cylindroma cells are generally separated by clear spaces corresponding to extreme development of the intercellular spaces.
","PeriodicalId":75498,"journal":{"name":"Annales d'anatomie pathologique","volume":"22 3","pages":"233-50"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1977-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"11421586","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The semi-quantitative counts of plasmocytes on histological sections are in agreement with those performed by other authors on smears of bone marrow punctures. The results of this method are in agreement with those of serum electrophoresis. It provides a distinction between polyclonal and monoclonal plasmocytosis and an exact identification of clonal proliferation of a frank tumorous nature (myeloma and Waldenström). Applicable to autopsies performed within 24 hours, it reveals the existance in the vast majority of amyloid diseases of monoclonal dysglobulinemia, without the abnormal clone being necessarily present in the other immunocyte area (spleen and ganglions).
","PeriodicalId":75498,"journal":{"name":"Annales d'anatomie pathologique","volume":"22 3","pages":"209-19"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1977-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"11622816","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
