The method is based on the mathematical model of the linear stationary gyrotron theory within the approximation of an unfixed field structure. To formulate a linear spectral problem, we use the method of linearization of the boundary conditions of radiation over the frequency. Using the finite difference method, the boundary value problem is reduced to a linear generalized matrix eigenvalue problem, which is solved by the shift-invert Arnoldi method. An algorithm is proposed for sequentially calculating the spectrum of complex frequencies of linear modes in a gyrotron to find a given number of modes without an additional procedure of searching for initial approximations. The developed technique ensures the calculation of the properties of a given number of linear oscillation modes in a gyrotron, specifically, frequencies, increments (decrements) of instabilities and distributions of the complex field amplitudes, and the current grouped in the electron beam along the cavity. Additionally, the instability boundaries on the plane of the corresponding parameters (starting generation conditions) are calculated. The data of test calculations for an actual gyrotron design are presented. The proposed methods and algorithms will significantly facilitate the process of developing gyrotrons intended for various practical applications.</p>","PeriodicalId":748,"journal":{"name":"Radiophysics and Quantum Electronics","volume":"68 7","pages":"528 - 549"},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2026-04-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"147865740","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"地球科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In its structure, the scheme is fundamentally different from the finite-difference time-domain methods and is free of some of the problems inherent in such schemes. This, in particular, allows one to estimate the characteristics of uncertainty associated with changes in the state of the Earth’s climate system. Often, an already existing ensemble of modern Earth system models is used, for example, the CMIP (Coupled Model Intercomparison Project) ensembles of different generations. It is also reasonable to set up special ensemble numerical experiments with climate models, in which some model parameters or integration conditions are systematically varied. The aim of this paper is a review of the most frequently used methods for constructing and post-processing ensemble numerical experiments with Earth system models, as well as of examples of using the ensemble approach for climate modeling problems. Spatial correlation of the characteristics of random wind drift of meteor trails and nonspecular multiple-ionization points scattering from wind-distorted meteor trails is taken into account. A method for statistical modeling of the signal parameters synchronously recorded at two or more spaced receivers is described. Spatial correlation curves of the amplitude–time and phase–time responses of meteor radio reflections are obtained using a simulation approach. It is shown that the coherence radius of the signal amplitude can reach 350–400 km, which is consistent with known theoretical and experimental results. Estimates of the phase coherence radius of meteor radio reflections are made for the first time. It is shown that the phase coherence radius does not exceed 10–15 wavelengths. However, correction of phase measurements for the geometric phase increment and phase addition during radio wave scattering by a meteor trail expands the potential correlation region up to 6–18 km.</p>","PeriodicalId":748,"journal":{"name":"Radiophysics and Quantum Electronics","volume":"68 7","pages":"471 - 490"},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2026-04-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"147865737","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"地球科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Ultrawideband electromagnetic pulses with similar characteristics are observed in spark discharges in air gaps from 1 m to 4 m long, which are ignited by impulse voltage generators, as well as in discharges approximately 1 m long, which are caused by a water aerosol cloud charged to a high potential. The pulsed radiation may originate from fast electron avalanches developing, for example, on the cathode of the positive discharge during the initiation of a connecting leader. The mathematical model employed is based on solving the three-dimensional equations of the waterphase motion, which are filtered over subgrid fluctuations, in the Eulerian formulation, and the Lagrangian equations of the bubbles motion. The turbulent-viscosity concept, where the kinetic energy of the pulsations unresolved by the calculation grid is determined by solving a prognostic equation, is used to close the subgrid stresses in the water velocity equation. The results show that the influence of the turbulence on the bubble transport leads to a reduction of the transfer of the bubbles, as compared to the Stokes drift, in the vicinity of the water surface, and an enhancement of the transfer in the water depth (i.e., turbulent diffusion of the bubble Stokes drift) occurs. The results also show that the turbulence does not affect significantly the vertical component of the concentration flux, which is controlled by the established bubble velocity in quiescent water.</p>","PeriodicalId":748,"journal":{"name":"Radiophysics and Quantum Electronics","volume":"68 5-6","pages":"391 - 399"},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2026-04-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"147865783","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"地球科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
