These factors often lead to significant occupational stress. Supporting the well-being of anesthesiologists is essential for maintaining patient safety and a stable healthcare workforce. Methods: We conducted a survey among anesthesiology residents and specialists in North Macedonia. Standardized tools were used, including the Safety Attitudes Questionnaire (SAQ), WHO-5 Well-Being Index, and custom questions related to workplace culture, mental health, and teamwork. Data were collected anonymously via Google Forms and analyzed with SPSS v29.0, focusing on work conditions, psychological well-being, and burnout levels. Results: A total of 100 participants participated-60% residents and 40% specialists. Residents reported significantly higher stress and burnout, along with lower perceived support from institutions and weaker team dynamics (p < 0.05). Specialists noted better job satisfaction and stronger organizational backing (p < 0.05). Both groups highlighted a lack of mental health support and weak safety culture, particularly in under-resourced settings; however, these differences were not statistically significant (p > 0.05). Overall, resource limitations were widely recognized as key contributors to workplace challenges in middle-income countries (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Anesthesiology residents face higher levels of stress and lower job satisfaction compared to specialists, with resource constraints worsening these disparities. Adolescents with high levels of alexithymia may be at greater risk of psychological distress due to maladaptive coping mechanisms and reduced social support engagement. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted among 141 high school students aged 15-18 in Skopje, North Macedonia. Participants completed validated instruments including the Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20) and the Adolescent Coping Orientation for Problem Experiences (COPE-A). Statistical analyses included descriptive statistics, Pearson correlations, to examine associations between alexithymia and coping strategies. Results: The mean TAS-20 score suggested a high prevalence of alexithymic traits in the sample. Approximately 44% of adolescents in the sample scored above the clinical threshold for alexithymia (TAS-20 > 61), highlighting the prevalence of emotional processing difficulties in this population. Significant correlations were found between higher alexithymia and maladaptive emotion regulation strategies such as self-blame, rumination, and catastrophizing. Conversely, positive coping strategies like positive reappraisal and acceptance were negatively correlated with alexithymia levels. Participants with high alexithymia reported a greater tendency to engage in maladaptive coping behaviors. Discussion: Findings underscore alexithymia as a trait associated with emotion dysregulation and diminished coping flexibility in adolescents. The results highlight the interplay between poor emotional awareness and a tendency to adopt dysfunctional cognitive responses to stress, which may exacerbate vulnerability to psychological problems. Conclusion: Early identification of alexithymic traits and the promotion of emotional literacy and adaptive coping in adolescence are crucial. Preventive school-based programs focusing on emotional skill development and peer support may buffer the impact of alexithymia and enhance youth mental health outcomes.
","PeriodicalId":74492,"journal":{"name":"Prilozi (Makedonska akademija na naukite i umetnostite. Across human cultures music was a source of affective and pleasurable experience, moving people both physically and emotionally. Researches confirmed that music shapes brain structure and brain function as well. The neuroscience of music suggests that neural oscillations synchronize with musical stimuli. Fundamental dynamical principles based on known neural mechanisms can explain the basic aspects of music perception and performance, as summarized in \"neural resonance theory\". Music is an integral part of every human society. Music can bring pleasure, calm anxiety, soothe sorrow, inspire and/or stimulate movement, and promote social connections. Musical experiences may also have the remarkable ability to enhance brain and cognitive development, improve function and well-being, optimize the quality of life, and possibly ameliorate the symptoms of a broad range of diseases and disorders. Products meeting defined inclusion criteria were analyzed using refractometry (Atago® Rx-5000i, 37°C) to determine TSSC (°Brix), and a modular compact rheometer (MCR 92, Anton Paar) to assess viscosity (mPa·s) under constant shear rate conditions. Each measurement was performed in triplicate. Results: TSSC values ranged from 0 to 38.84 °Brix, with a mean of 11.17±5.95 °Brix. Viscosity varied between 0.81 and 74.39 mPa·s, averaging 2.86±8.69 mPa·s. Outliers included products exceeding 35.99 °Brix or 3.03 mPa·s. A strong positive correlation was found between TSSC and viscosity (ρ = 0.722, p < 0.001), suggesting increased viscosity with higher solid content. Conclusion: The wide variability in TSSC and viscosity reflects the complexity of mouthwash formulations and their potential impact on oral health. ILC is distinguished from the more common invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC) by characteristics histopathology features. The aim of the study was to emphasize the need of more specified diagnostic imaging approach in order to detect breast ILC, based on our institution experience. We describe a number of 17 female cases (58±7 years) who presented: breast fullness/asymmetry - 11 patients (64.7 %), pain - 2 patients (11.7 %), and the rest 4 patients (23.5 %) were asymptomatic. Diagnostic modalities used in this study were: 2D Mammography, Ultrasound, Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT), and core biopsy in guidance by Ultrasound. On 2D Mammography, visible mass was found in 8 patients (47 %), and architectural distortion was found in 4 patients (23.5 %). On DBT additional 5 patients were examined from the total number of patients, and additional lesions were found such as occult lesions and additional architectural distortion. Using DBT, occult lesion was found in 3 patients (17.6 %) and architectural distortion was found in 2 patients (11.7%). Due to these inconclusive findings, DBT was carried out to improve visualization especially in those with more glandular tissue. The occult lesions were seen in 3 patients, which showed as false negative on 2D, as well as an architectural distortion in 2 patients, additionally seen on DBT. This multimodality approach, including DBT, holds promise for more reliable detection of occult lesions and distortions especially in denser breast, and for better clinical outcomes in patients with ILC, respectively.
","PeriodicalId":74492,"journal":{"name":"Prilozi (Makedonska akademija na naukite i umetnostite. Serum creatinine, the prevailing standard biomarker, has demonstrated inadequacy for the early identification of AKI due to its delayed elevation in the initial stages. There is a necessity for innovative biomarkers that facilitate early detection and prompt intervention, hence enhancing patient outcomes. Objectives: To assess and compare the values of biochemical markers of renal function (serum urea, creatinine, and cystatin C) in the preoperative and postoperative periods in patients undergoing LRP. Materials and Methods: This prospective, comparative study included 30 patients who underwent LRP. The investigated serum parameters-urea, creatinine, and cystatin C-were assessed at three time points: preoperatively (T1), immediately after LRP (T2), and 12 hours after the start of LRP (T3). Results: All patients exhibited normal preoperative biochemical indicators of renal function. Postoperatively, AKI was identified in three patients. Out of a total of 30 patients who underwent LRP, only three patients (10%) met the criteria for AKI diagnosis. One patient (3%) developed AKI based on increased serum creatinine levels, while three patients (6%), including the one who met the creatinine-based criteria, were diagnosed with AKI based on elevated serum cystatin C levels. Serum cystatin C levels were significantly elevated in patients with AKI at T2 and remained elevated at T3 in comparison to T1. Conclusion: The results indicate that serum cystatin C has greater sensitivity for identifying AKI than serum urea and creatinine in the initial 12 hours post- LRP.
","PeriodicalId":74492,"journal":{"name":"Prilozi (Makedonska akademija na naukite i umetnostite.
