Via observing the compressive strength changes of steel fiber reinforced concrete when different amount of steel fiber, slag and fly ash were mixed, reasonable amount of steel fiber was determined with the maximum compressive strength of concrete. As a result, as concentrations of minerals and sand ratio changed, the compressive strength of concrete varied regularly. In addition, when the strength was maximum, the amount of steel fiber proved to be constant with the value of 1.4%.","PeriodicalId":7348,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Natural Science","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-03-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83257342","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Telmisartan is a highly selective angiotensin receptor blocker, and the favourable tolerability profile of telmisartan combined with its long elimination half- life ensure the drug provides pronounced reductions in blood pressure (BP) across the entire 24-hour dosage interval. There is relatively very little data and information available to reveal renoprotective activity of telmisartan in nondiabetic low grade albuminuric Kurd hypertensive patients. Our study explores the effect of telmisartan on mean arterial blood pressure and it also sheds more light on its crucial role in lowering albumin: creatinine ratio in Kurd patients. The results of our study demonstrate that telmisartan reduces mean arterial blood pressure significantly, furthermore the study had explained a significant reduction in albuminuria at the second month of treatment which is regarded as a positive sign of renoprotection.","PeriodicalId":7348,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Natural Science","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-03-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82724499","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A participatory action research (PAR) design was implemented in five semi-rural primary schools in Mahasarakham Province. Selected students were identified as health promoting targets and planned for changing themselves by following a health promoting plan with the participatory action of their families and their schools. Quantitative data and qualitative data were collected and analyzed. The qualitative results indicated that to attain the goals of HPS it is important that using student capabilities to generate ways to solve their health-related problems becomes a fundamental strategy such as students communicating with health promotion strategies from the school through the families, building a stronger relationship between teachers-families-students, and students’ capability as ‘health promoting actors’. The possible roles for school teachers and health personnel assisting HPS program can revealed in quantitative analysis. Results showed that the student’s knowledge of health promoting school significantly decreased from before the training course (P < 0.001) The mean score of HPS knowledge after experiment was higher than before the experiment which are the HPS training scores (M = 9.5319, SD = 1.62) was significantly higher than before attending (M = 8.4681, SD = 1.52; t = - 6.173, p = < 0.001) HPS course. The result of this study using Home Visit can increase the participatory actions among Primary School students, teachers, family members. It can lead to more benefits in individual self efficacy and the development of healthcare among societies. The longitudinal and transverse masses represent the mass of the particle and matter wave accompanying it, respectively. A massive particle is found to have a bigger longitudinal mass than transverse mass. The transverse mass vector is found to be along the direction of the particle’s velocity (). A particle of an equal longitudinal and transverse mass travels at speed of light in vacuum. An actinide dependent shadow biosphere of archaea and viroids has been described in metabolic syndrome x with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Actinidic archaea have a mevalonate pathway and are cholesterol catabolizing. They can use cholesterol as a carbon and energy source. Archaeal cholesterol catabolism can generate porphyrins via the cholesterol ring oxidase generated pyruvate and GABA shunt pathway. Archaea can produce a secondary porphyria by inducing the enzyme heme oxygenase resulting in heme depletion and activation of the enzyme ALA synthase. Porphyrins have been related to metabolic syndrome x and type 2 diabetes mellitus. The role of archaeal porphyrins in regulation of cell functions, metabolism and endocrine function is discussed. Porphyrins play a key role in the generation of the Warburg phenotype, endogenous digoxin synthesis and metabolic syndrome x with type 2 diabetes mellitus.  Methodology : The following groups were included in the study: - metabolic syndrome x with cerebrovascular thrombosis and coronary artery disease. There were 10 patients in each group and each patient had an age and sex matched healthy control selected randomly from the general population. The blood samples were drawn in the fasting state before treatment was initiated. Plasma from fasting heparinised blood was used and the experimental protocol was as follows (I) Plasma + phosphate buffered saline, (II) same as I + cholesterol substrate, (III) same as II + rutile 0.1 mg/ml, (IV) same as II + ciprofloxacine and doxycycline each in a concentration of 1 mg/ml. The following estimations were carried out: - Cytochrome F420, free RNA, free DNA, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon, hydrogen peroxide, pyruvate, ammonia, glutamate, succinate, glycine, delta aminolevulinic acid and digoxin. The study also involved estimating the following parameters in the patient population- hexokinase, porphyrins, pyruvate, glutamate, ammonia, succinic acid, serine, glycine, HMG CoA reductase, cytochrome C, blood ATP and heme oxygenase. Results : Plasma of control subjects showed increased levels of the above mentioned parameters with after incubation for 1 hour and addition of cholesterol substrate resulted in still further significant increase in these parameters. The plasma of patients showed similar results but the extent of increase was more. The addition of antibiotics to the control plasma caused a decrease in all the parameters while addition of rutile increased their levels. The addition of antibiotics and rutile to the patient’s plasma produced the same changes but the extent of change was more in patient’s sera as compared to controls. There was upregulated archaeal porphyrin synthesis in the patient population which was archaeal in origin as indicated by actinide catalysis of the reactions. The cholesterol oxidase pathway generated pyruvate which entered the GABA shunt pathway. Information and communication technologies heralds a fundamental change in the dissemination of information with regard to among other things, economic, business and education. Ultimately, this paper attempts to give an overview of current initiatives around ICTs, and university development through a review of available literature. The overview will be followed by a selection of case studies of Ajayi Crowther University, documenting initiatives where ICT plays a prominent role and suggestions for further research and projects to inspire discussion for future research programme. This is part of a process to develop research programme exploring ICT innovations in, and the consequences of their possible application to university development. ICTs and university development are extensive fields, and it is not possible to address all aspects in this paper but only what has been found to be of greatest current importance. When applying ICT to university development, it has been found that the most important challenges that institutions are currently facing are the responsibilities that have been transferred to them through recent decentralization. In this paper this aspect will thus be deliberately focused upon along with the ICTs that are of most relevant to these institutions meeting their new responsibilities.
