The benefit of making this protected protein is that it can provide information to farmers that the provision of protein can be more efficient. The material used as protein protection is the use of tannins from jackfruit (Arthocarpus heterophilus) leaves. The experimental design used was a completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 6 replications. Treatment 1: control (tithonia); treatment 2: addition of 0.7% condensed tannins + tithonia; treatment 3: addition of 1.7% condensed tannins + tithonia; treatment 4: addition of 2.1% condensed tannins + tithonia. Parameters observed: degree of acidity (pH); dry matter digestibility (DMD); organic matter digestibility (OMD); Crude protein digestibility (CPD). The results showed that the highest degree of acidity (pH), DMD, OMD and CPD were 7.15; 70.42%, 78.84% and 66.26%. This study concluded that the treatment with the addition of 0.7% condensed tannins, gave a total CPD of 47.58% more efficient than the control and not significantly different from other treatments.","PeriodicalId":7202,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Biological Sciences Research","volume":"38 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75929405","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to determine the availability and potential of forage production for dairy cows in Ambopi village North Tongauna District, Konawe District. The method used in this study was survey carried out by purposive sampling. Data were analysed using descriptive analysis. The variables observed in this study were forages, analysis of chemical composition i.e. dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP), crude fiber (CF), extract ether (EE) and total digestible nutrient (TDN) and production and availability of grass. The results showed that there were 3 types of grass namely elephant grass ( Pennisetum purpureum ), odot grass ( Pennisetum purpureum cv Mott) and setaria grass ( Setaria sphacelata ). Average nutrient production of the three types of grass was 94.09 tons DM/ha/year, 13.19 tons CP/ha/year and 39.32 tons TDN/ha/year. It is concluded that the number of available forages has not been able to meet the needs of dairy cows because the number of dairy cows that can be accommodated is only 5 AU (Animal Unit) for 1 year in Ambopi Village.","PeriodicalId":7202,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Biological Sciences Research","volume":"52 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74786942","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Agricultural by-products have high potential to be used for feed, but its utilization is limited by the low nutrient quality. Silage is a type of byproduct utilization that can increase the nutrient quality. Adding good quality forage to silage may augment the nutrient content and quality of silage. This study aimed to analyse the quality and characteristics of different composition percentages of corn stover (CS) and Indigofera zolingeriana (IZ) mix silage. The complete randomized design was applied in this research with four treatments consisting of T1 (90% CS + 10% milled corn), T2 (80% CS + 10% IZ + 10% milled corn), T3 (70% CS + 20% IZ + 10% milled corn), and T4 (50% CS + 40% IZ + 10% milled corn). The variables observed were pH level, dry matter, crude protein content, and Fleigh score. The results show that 10%, 20% and 40% Indigofera zolingeriana addition in silage yield high DM content (30,04±0,80, 30,85±2,00 and 33,03±0,99 respectfully) and increase CP content (2,87±0,04, 3,20±0,19 and 3,77±0,16 respectfully), and Fleigh score 150,5±0,9, 138,7±10,6 and 120,4±4,9 respectfully.","PeriodicalId":7202,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Biological Sciences Research","volume":"4 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74047967","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study used a 4 x 4 Latin square design using 4 treatments, in 4 periods, and 4 lactating FH cows. The 4 treatments used were basal ration (BR) with forage and palm oil sludge as control, BR plus 27.5% Durio seed (DS) flour, BR plus 20% fermented Durio (FD) peel flour, and BR plus 27.5% Durio seed flour and 20% fermented Durio peel flour (DS-FD). The data obtained were analyzed by means of variance (Anova). Any significant effects were further analyzed using Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The results showed that the provision of rations containing Durio seed flour had a significant effect (P<0.05) on the intakes of dry matter (10.34 kg/d), organic matter (7.39 kg/d) and crude protein (1.75 kg/d) as well as on digestibility of crude protein digestibility (69.27%). Based on these values, the ration containing concentrate with 27.5% Durio seed flour was considered a better one. While the combination of Durio seed and fermented Durio peel flour tended to have higher crude fiber digestibility.","PeriodicalId":7202,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Biological Sciences Research","volume":"10 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85243397","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
